Looks great! I think a gap in the battlements into the cargo area behind would work well and you could have boxes and cargo stacked up in front of it with a small gap and then have a couple of workers using it as a hideout to slack off, would be quite funny

Maybe use pirate heads on them to make them look like tough long shore men and tie them in a bit with the pirate fort elements nearby.

Really lovely work - great sense of completion here. Fortlet looks quality, but looking forward to see a reenactor / imperial minifigure / random tramp waving out of the little archway. How about another on the top involved in an argument with a seagull?
Regardless - happy Friday and thank you.
Real similar look and feel to the excellent beach & boardwalk videos.

Personally I'm not sure on the re-enactor part, but I don't have a better idea for how to include one of those old red or blue coat uniforms nearby. Maybe some of the nearby coast guard could be wearing them as some kind of more 'dress' type uniform for something happening over at the coast guard building. Maybe some kind of drills if there is a yard to get a few as reenactors like you suggest or some kind of at post/ working guards like the Royal Guard?

Love the little fort for your harbor. I did have an idea though; on the side with the window you can put a skeleton peeking out that way you can inhabit the fort. It could be a haunted tourist attraction for your city. I can't wait to see the rest of the completed harbor.

You could combine the coast guard with the old castle Fort, like they've re used the old remains of the fort. Maybe extend the Fort in height and length to accommodate this. Feel like you've started something that could have great potential combined.
Tourists looking around the coast guard/Fort combination could help fund the coast guard through donations like the RLNI current do

It looks so good Robin! I love the way you are incorporating historical buildings into Bricknottingham. It’s very ‘real world’ and sets your LEGO city apart.
Im not sure if you have already used him somewhere, but the castaway mini fig would look great on the fortlet as a drifter. Perhaps he has set up a home for himself in the abandoned building.

Robin, I'm so excited to see how this Cargo yard area turns out! It really has been a long time coming. One thing which confuses me, however, is the orientation of the slipway. What purpose would a slipway serve, if the top of it directly abuts a cliff face? If the ramp sloped gently (or steeply) downward, connecting the cargo area level with the water level, that would make sense. As you have it oriented now, it only would allow a boat or dinghy to approach by water, and be dragged to the top of the ramp. There would be no convenient access from above... Unless you plan to use a cargo crane to hoist it up from the slipway ramp?? Perhaps I've just answered my own question? Can't wait to see next week's chapter! Cheers.

An easy Fortlet change would be to open up the back end of the lookout on top as a mini tourist area where they can take pictures of brick bay. You might also consider changing some of the black plate layer on it to match the colors of the burps to make it seem like the fort was really built into the rock.

  • @Qoonutz

Robin, may I suggest you add a Lego light brick and a Lego ghost minifig (which was common in the pirate series of the 1980s/90s) in the fort-let. The Lego light brick can be triggered with a switch near the flag. An abandoned and haunted fort-let!

Brilliantly done Robin! The fortlette is charming as all get out! If the more involved suggestions other viewers have made feel like they would hurt the pure simplicity of the build, I'd suggest just a little plaque instead. Such a plaque could be a piece of historical information for tourists to read about the fort, or a dedication to the brave men who defended BrickNottingham Bay at some decisive battle some centuries ago. No need to overly complicate things if you do not want to.

  • @tillywallenstein

You could put a coastguard building on top of the fortlet. So the new guards would use the remnants of the old guards.

I was thinking about the cargo area when watching a video of yours, and now it is here and starting to look pretty alright! I think you should also the fort a tourist attraction, but you have to go through load of unhappy cargo workers to get through. But if the cargo bay is too far away then I think just have 1 scared tourist as a cannon ship gets nearer to him. Great video!

Another great video Robin! I learned something new from this video, that the baseplates resting on studs match the height of the adjacent plates! This addition to your harbor reminds me of the US Civil-War-era Fort Point in San Francisco, where I’m from. They built the Golden Gate Bridge right on top of it!

Fantastic improvement to your city Robin! Definitely looks alot better. I love the little fortlet. I think you should leave it as an abandoned fort since your cargo yard will be right next to it you wouldn't want people to stray around the cargo yard and get hurt trying to get to the attraction. But I do think you need one of those old red parrots purched up on the wall of the fort. I can't wait to see more of this build. Great video my friend keep up the amazing work.

Good idea with the fortlet. Since your city exists in the present time, I think it should be abandoned. But then I would either remove the canon altogether or make it visually clear somehow that it no longer works. Also, the ammunition should not be there anymore. Maybe you can include some other signs of decay. At least that's how I see it. Curious how the rest of the area is going to be.

    • @RobinHoodBricks

It looks like we have a nice space near the bridge to do something fun with. If that ramp ends up on the water we could do a cool effect on the edge to make it look like the water is lapping up the ramp. Maybe the fort is like a heritage site maintained by the coast guard due to its military history that the general public are restricted from getting too close to. Perhaps a combination of semi active status, the nearby water being now being unpredictable and treacherous and the old structure having made its way into becoming a necessary load bearing solid point of the shore as the area was developed over time. That could be played up with some rock or water effects crashing against the stone/structure or swirling in the bit of water by the ramp. Otherwise we may be able to incorporate it a bit more once we have other nearby things in place. Maybe as a historical viewing point with a small plaque telling of the location's history.

    • @chrischristiansen6204
      @chrischristiansen6204 2 роки тому

Just remembered that some of the older lego sets would sometimes have hinged walls to make accessing the play spaces easier especially for buildings. It might be a neat kind of retro element to work into one of these older style builds. Even if its not an area that would be toggled open or closed often it could be a simple 'play feature' type thing that could be implemented pretty easily.

LEGO city 60168 saiboat resque set might be something for you, Robin, one sailboat for the cabinet, one resque-boat for your resque station. 😁😉
That it also fills up that side dock...., bonus, right?

    • @RobinHoodBricks

I got the sail boat from that set on its own somehow but it's in reserve. Other ships are better I think!

    • @rbleisem
      @rbleisem 2 роки тому

@@RobinHoodBricksYeah, the resque boat is the better one of that set and would fit your city, quite nicely, don't you think?
Would also let you add a dock for the resque boat as well.
Might let you get enough stuff together for a clippy.
Still think that fort could be a bit higher, though, if only to let it stand out from the main water wall, like being one brick higher or so.
You know how they were in the 50s, 60's and earlier, tear it down or add to it, historical??? what is that??? lives are at stack, add that concrete wall.
So really, make that fort a bit higher, so it is above that wall.
I do wonder if building something up against that wall, could work, like say a old storage shed or so.
Now that chemical storage yard, think you could also turn that one into a row?
      Perhaps with the offices incorporated?
Might even let you use the Batman Two-Face minifigure, there.
As for Indiana Jones, could you add Johnny Thunder as well?
Perhaps with a car that is in style, blocking that truck?
Would my bricklink gallery page have something you think you could use, if modified?

As a result it takes far too much space, especially with very long trains. Therefore I don't bother, or even try to have more than one train running per track. Very perilous!
