- 2024 Topps Chrome is almost here! Recently the 2024 Topps Chrome checklist was released and the pre order was held. Boxes on pre order were $190. This is a steep price for a hobby box of Topps Chrome, but the rookie checklist is deep. While there may not be a top clear generational standout or two like Acuna and Ohtani in 2018, this set features almost a dozen top 20 prospects and other international superstars. In this video I rank my 15 top rookies to target in 2024 Topps Chrome!
This product is DEEP.
Honorable mentions include: Jared Jones, Jung Hoo Lee, Marco Luciano, Ceddanne Rafaela, Colt Keith, Heston Kjerstad, Sal Frelick, Kyle Harrison, Zack Gelof, Wilyer Abreu, and Henry Davis.
So what team do I take in breaks? O's cause of FF?
@@hamm_bone_hobbies1302Value teams, for sure Giants and Cubs, Reds if you're just looking to flip because they'll have highest return, and Dodgers if you're looking to hold
Jordan Westburg????
Royce Lewis just hit his 9th HR this afternoon in his 15th game this season.....26 HR's in 308 AB's in his career ~ HR every 11.846 AB's
Too bad he only gets 50-90 at bats a season bc he can’t stay healthy
@@ryanra44~~ A.K.A. .... every player I collect.
@@simondaughtry4619 it definitely can seem that way with all of the injuries this season. I know I’m hurting being an Acuna collector
@@ryanra44 I'd be better off financially with a heroin addiction ...
Just hit his 10th the next day. Guy hits a dong nearly every game.
Scotty !
WestBurg …
I know he’s 25 already .
Whatever 😊
Chourio is just starting to turn it on here in June. Looks like a completely different hitter than he did in late April and May. Great personality and the skillset to go 30-30 down the road. I'll gladly pass on buying 2-3 hobby boxes and just buy one of his Blue autos instead. Unfortunate how greedy Fanatics was with the cost this year.
When you factor in that he just turned 20 in March & most of the guys ahead of him on this list have at least a year and a half on him in age with the way he's improving on the season there's a good chance before long he'll be near or at the top of the list. In all honesty with what he's already done at his age he should definitely be higher than #8 & not behind guys like Carter & Langford and even Jackson Holliday with his lack of doing anything yet at the major league level
Nice dude, always look forward to your content.
Great vid as always Scottie!
Helpful insights!
Definitely appreciate this, I am getting back into baseball and needed this
Thanks for this breakdown! Been a collector of everything for years but started baseball with series 1 2024. Things like this breakdown are very helpful to anyone who wants to learn!
Great list Scottie
Great list scottie. Enjoyed the breakdown with all the numbers. Please post a PC video 😊
Love the content! Always love seeing this breakdown for each release. Is the math correct? The hobby meter metric is out of five in the others are out of 10 so is the formula correct dividing by five?
Elly is the right choice. Great bideo
Hey Scottie
Shot in the dark but any interest in jumping on the podcast one of these days ?
Westburg is great. I’ll be collecting all his stuff. Cowser as well.
Love the shirt! Compare all of Elly's stats compared to average and he is better in every category. He will just get better.
Nice video and thanks for the breakdown. Such a close list. You could have easily given Chourio a 7 in minor stats and Holliday a 1 in major league stats. That would make Chourio top 3 and Holliday outside top 10.
I like the new hobby factor category.
Thank you! It evens it all out a bit more.
I have a Dominguez bowman rookie /25 I’m holding on too for now. And I had bought a Cowser bowman superfractor but it sadly got stolen out of the mailbox
Do you think Skenes will be on the list if you do another video in 3-4 months?
How does Jordan Westburgh fit into your system? Seems he is having a better year then most rookies. That being said I honestly have no idea how old he is so I am sure that has something to do with it. But anyway I am PC him and just curious to know. Thanks and love these videos they are extremely informative and helpful.
Can you please tell me what happened to Carlos Perez the rookie catcher from the White Sox last year?
Thoughts on Nolan Schanuel?
From what I've seen of Merrill he's got some promise. Patient hitter for his age
No Jordan Westburg?
THank you!!
Westburg is a bosssss
He’s mlb ready to stay .
I smell a lot of Gavin Lux's and Cavan Biggio's in this group.
Some will be fine players but this is not the class to invest in at all
When you take into consideration where De la Cruz & Chourio are batting in their respective lineups & then compare the #s in the majors I respectfully disagree with there being that much of a difference between their stats as well as that big of a gap between where the two rank. I get having Elly #1 but Chourio at #8 seems just a bit low especially with some of the names in between em. Add in the fact Elly is almost 2 full years older than him you could easily make the argument that Chourio is right there with him especially with how he's on the rise while Elly is on the decline as the season is progressing. Lot of season left for things to change though
I like Jared Jones but his last 2 outings have been rough
He was my bubble guy. His last few starts have definitely hurt his full big league resume. His minor league stats are also underwhelming. If someone were to say that he deserved to be on the list instead of Gavin Williams or Jordan Lawler, then I wouldn't blame them. Thanks for watching!
is Skenes a SSP or did he miss the checklist altogether?
When did this become a basketball show?
I don’t get why Holliday cards are still so expensive for his big league performance so far I think he will be solid but not as good as people think he will be
Great video but Holliday and Dominguez should be 8 and 7 on that list.
It’s overpriced but I think the value will increase if you keep it sealed. Lots of potential
Langford smashed another HR 2 nights ago
Wander Franco
Do you watch any video on any prospects?
I think Chourio at 8 is incredibly disrespectful and indicative of small market hate.
I am a Rockies fan, I don’t hate small markets. He hasn’t been good at the big league level quite yet. If he had been, he would have been in the top 3 or so.
Generally agree with your analysis, BUT, jackson holliday should be a 0 for Major League stats. There was literally almost no way he could have been worse
Number 1 has to be Elly Cruz.
No chance he ever hits 80 WAR in his career.
@@larrydavidcsSeeing as Trout is the only active position player in MLB with 80+ WAR, not hitting that mark doesn’t exclude him from having an excellent career. Mookie 11 years in doesn’t even have 70 if I recall. I don’t know if Elly will be a HOF guy but he’s shown quite a bit already and is a popular guy to collect.
@@daveycash3479 prices should reflect more than popularity.. otherwise everyone will be stuck with a shit pile of worthless wax.. obviously collect whoever you like if you want to collect cards, but sadly the modern card hobby is more about speculation closer to crypto currency and nfts.
Wilyer Abreu
I don't understand how a 21 year old Wyatt Langford gets a 10 for minors when he only played in 47 games and half were at A+:ball
What about 16-20 😅
Lawlar is injured so he won't be coming up too soon
Ceddanne in honorable mention is dumb. He's top 15 by any measure.
Love the content, hard disagree investing anything in this class period unless keeping it sealed and praying. Elly wont be a bust but there is no way that he lives up to the hobby price hype. No way. He just isnt good enough of a hitter. Hes flashy and a human highlight reel, thats it.
Prospecting is for Bowman imo, most of these rookies on the list will be lucky to get to 40/50 career WAR. 2024 is an extremely weak class and even the products admit it with all their gimmicks and forced chases.
Compared to 2020-2023. It isn’t worse.
@@ryanra44 2023 and 2022 both have far better prospects for longevity in the MLB than 2024. its not even close. those guys have already broken through for 6+ WAR seasons. If your top draw is Elly De La Cruz your class is weak. He's going to be a fine player but he is not even close to Bobby Witt or Gunnar/Adley levels of talent
@@larrydavidcs are you smoking meth? Show me another Rookie class that has 5+ top 10 prospects under 22 years old?
@@larrydavidcs you want to look at topps 2022. You have Witt, JROD that’s about it. 2023. Has Gunnar and Adley. That’s about it
@@larrydavidcs do you not see how much deeper this class is? You are basically betting that 8+ top 25 guys will all bust whereas those other classes have 2-3 guys tops in them that have a chance. Not to mention. Guys like Holliday, Chourio, Caminero, etc are extremely young and are debuting a year+ before guys like Adley, JROD, Witt, even sniffed the MLB
Looks like topps finally sold out of chrome!
Your stats are so boring and you talk why to fast. To much analyzing these cards. Again boring.
Do a video reviewing how last years rookies are doing this year. Go Rockies 🏔️
