In a very heavily populated los angeles county, not the city itself, but the extended outer areas. I have worked at farmers insurance and anthem. I have seen first hand as american born workers get laid off and replaced by workers from india through the h1b visa system. This is a legal way they hire foreigners. People think it is just farmers using the temporary work visa but it is also highly educated workers from foreign countries also. about three quarters of the workers at farmers insurance and anthem, from what I could view, were replaced by these two year foreign work visa employees. They clearly worked at a lower pay rate. These are the nice and comfortable data entry jobs and office jobs I'm talking about. A position that most americans born here would like to have. Instead, these workers from india took the jobs of american born workers, then sent the money back to india which of course wouldn't benefit the local economy. Also they had to stay somewhere so it increased the rent and housing available here. They were highly educated and very hard working. These are people that teach kids to read the moment they are born. An american worker wouldn't stand a chance. These were highly educated university degree wealthy people from india that went into this foreign visa worker program. The only reason I was hired as a temporary at these places for a few weeks and months was because they probably had a gap in the workers from india coming in. I still worked at just above minimum wage however. This is a barely livable wage. This is in los angeles. So these workers had no loyalty to the united states. They also would not talk to you even though I knew they spoke english. They would stick to themselves in the lunch area. Also when I was working at these places they already had legal immigrants that have been here a while working at these places. So why import more temporary visa workers when you already have legal immigrants from all over the world working at these companies. I appreciate your father and uncle bringing this up. However, why do we need to take care of everyone in the world. there is a lot of space and resources in canada. they could take them in very easily if they wanted to. Instead I have to look at homeless encampments with tents everywhere in the valley and city wherever I go. people getting attacked with crime everywhere you go. hopeless looking people using drugs, while rich educated people from india take comfortable american office jobs. I have no issue with people from india, however helping a person from india who is already rich and has all the advantages, get a better living while local americans suffer is not the right way to do it. it is not sustainable in the long run and will drag this country down. another thing is that I am not allowed to just go to india and start working at any company. even if it was allowed they would laugh at me if I did that. they would not allow me to work there when they can hire an india born citizen which I last heard is over a billion and four hundred million people, surpassing china this year I think. I am willing to work for a very low wage but they would never allow that sort of competition or let me stay in india indefinitely. so why do the same for them. Again, these are people from india that are already rich and we are just bringing them in to take american jobs from people that need it desperately.
