My little siblings and their friends do it too kids are weird. Hopefully some kids found a dead turtle and that was all

When I was in high school 25 years ago, a kid was run over by a car right in front of me. We were in the crosswalk leading to the campus, and had the signal. But a speeding driver ignored the light and plowed right into him. Dozens of people came running to help, but I knew better. The kid was dead before what was left of him splattered on the pavement. You don't realize how much blood and organs the human body has until you see something like that. I quietly walked away and never talked about it. It changed how I viewed mortality; people die literally every second on this planet, sometimes in the most mundane happenstance.

That's kind of what happened to me, I was 13 years and my high school entrance is literally right next door to a supermarks lorry bay, don't ask why, my friend at the time was walking in with me, when he slipped and dragged our other friend down to the ground in attempt to save himself, at that moment a arctic lorry had pulled out from the docking bay, he proceeded to run over my friends, the initial one who had fell, had his upper torso and head crushed, you never realise how much pressure it takes to make someone's skull pop like a bomb over hundreds of students and pedestrians, our other friends legs from his thighs downwards were crushed and flatter than paper. The worse part was feeling blood popped into my lip and face and the crunching sounds and momentarily screech that my legless friends made before passing out.

Whoa, i blocked this one out... one time I was on the bus and saw a woman on a scooter get hit and run over. I was shocked and remember watching the blood pool out and around the pale chubby legs sticking out from under a black car. I thought about how they looked like my mom's and the situation really set in. By then the bus driver came back to let us all off (he went to help) so everyone started walking towards the next stop in a silent daze. Then this african guy speaks up and says "I say a prayer for that girl!" and starts praying out loud for us to hear. The woman behind me started crying, and the couple in front of me started crying, so then I started crying... i wonder what the others who saw us thought. Yeah that was a weird day.

A couple months ago when me and my wife were leaving home to take me to my night college class, we accidentally ran over here grandmas (passed last year) dog. She was an old girl, generally didnt like men but I had gradually built a bond with her to where shed let me pet and hold her. We were joking around before hand and felt us run her over but when we backed enough that I saw her in jumped out of the car. Seeing her there dying really broke my heart and my wife took it the hardest sonce she was driving. I don't blame her at all. It was my fault. The house is across the street. My dad used to mow the yard of the abandoned house across the street. He felt like it was haunted, and found a very, very old creepy doll. He threw it in the neighbor's trash can. Nobody wants to be haunted by a mouldy doll from the 80's.

I was a paramedic for 16 yrs and the call that made me leave the career I had loved was a motorcycle v garbage/recycling truck. I was actually off duty but also was a firefighter for my township and responded to the call when it was dispatched..i arrived being 2nd on the scene and the guy was underneath the truck in an unnatural position. Visually disturbing. and the fact he was still alive. Manpower had arrived with our heavy rescue truck and we were placing low pressure bags underneath the truck when the wife/gf arrived it was aweful. We get the guy out from underneath the truck and into the ambulance and he died on the way to the hospital. The sheriff deputies did a good job keeping his wife from getting too close to the scene, but her emotional state really bothered me..the only thing that I hated about my job was coping with the emotional states of victims' loved ones...16 years of that. I quit ems/fire shortly after volunteering to check myself into a psychiatric hospital for evaluation, after a 10 day stay I was discharged with ptsd...

I live on a farm and have dairy goats, i was about 13-14 and i had bought a quite old Nubian doe and she dropped twins for the first 2 years i had her so i was happy my investment wasn't wasted, but the January of the 3rd year she became very sick and wasn't able to stand up. I brought her food and water to her spot in the barn for a week although she barely ate any of it. No matter what medicine we gave her or how hard we tried to get her to stand she was just done. So we didn't want to see her suffer any longer so my dad said we where going to have to put her down. My dad was working at the time so it was me and my mom and my mom dearly loved the goat like a dog so she couldn't do, so i said i would knowing i needed to learn to do this as its quite common on farms. I got my dads 30-30 and put 2 rounds in it... walked out to her spot in the barn... Aimed at her head and BANG! She moved her head last second and i shot her in the body.. I immediately start crying i quickly jack the second round in, BANG! I'm trembling and she moves again, i shoot her in the leg... She is wailing and moaning and I'm violently sobbing as i run back to the house as fast as i can to get more shells, I load 3 more as I'm running back to the poor old girl, and by this time her head it tucked on her side in the death position and i expend 2 rounds into her head finally. I throw the gun down sprint past my sobbing mother and up the stairs into my room and don't come out till the next day... Probably the worst memory of my life.
R.I.P - Granny the goat, You where a good girl. My dad came and talked to me once he got home and explained it was ok and i wasn't in trouble, he told me a horror story of his similar to mine, he also told me how to properly do it next time. I still feel horrible for the ol girl.

I'm a night owl, have been ever since I was a preteen, and, living on a street with multiple boarding houses, you see a lot of people being stupid and scary. One time, I was on the living room computer in the middle of the night just surfing the net when someone knocked on the front door. I spun around and slipped out of my chair, hoping to hide in the dark under the computer desk as I looked at the mirror beside the front door which let me see through the glass in the door to what looked to be a woman standing at the front door, her face entirely obscured by shadow from her long hair and face pressed up close to the glass. She was looking right at me and, after a minute, she lifted up a gloved hand and waved at me, she knew exactly where I was, or so 11 year-old me thought. I think she left soon after, probably just some random druggie (we had a lot of those on my street when I was young and my dad has always been too nice and giving to them so they could come around occasionally for money), but is still pretty creepy.

the last story reminded me of the incident at my college coffee place, we were waiting for the next class in this coffee place and the waiter was going in and out of the veranda, and suddenly we hear a crash, sounded like metal and glass fell, whole Caffe got silent and some people stood up in shock, I looked out and saw that the sliding glass door that was 3m tall fell off its hinges and hit a tiny petite woman on her back, she was laying down and all I could see were her feet twitching, even worse she was a professor we had for our next class we were waiting for, and other students didn't believe me when I told them she won't be coming.
In the end, she had some broken vertebrae and ribs, survived, and came back to teach 2 years later, but she was never the same you cold see some deep sadness in her eyes.

But the most disturbing thing is that another man held a hammer, walked into the shop and offered to smash the other dog's head in. Obviously we all told him he was being mad. I still get shaken up a bit after remembering that.

When I was 13 I was swimming in a lake in rural eastern Washington, and for some reason I had the idea to swim out really far. I was probably about 80-100 feet from the shore (I was a very strong swimmer) when I put my head underwater and stared down into the depths. I had goggles on so I could see even though the water was pretty murky, and suddenly this huge pale mass emerged from the blackness, passed beneath me, and was gone. It was far down enough to just be barely visible, but this thing was huge, had I been in the ocean I would've thought it to be some kind of whale. Needless to say I booked it back to the shore as fast as i I could and never went back in that water. And of course everyone thought I was pulling a prank on them when I tried to say something.

So, for background, I live in a super old house in a little town full of historical sites. Like, early 1700's old houses. Mine has been renovated a few times, but is still really old. The wood floors creak whenever you walk, the windows are thin so there's always a draft in the winter, and because of this the doors tend to swing open a bit if you don't shut them fully. Anyways, my sis, step-sis and I share the largest bedroom in the house, and it's on the 2nd floor. I've gained the talent of being able to tell who's coming up the stairs by the sound of it. One night, step-sis (let's call her Alex) and I were talking while sis(let's call her Caitlin) was trying to sleep. Little step-bro(4/5 y/o, we'll call him Levi) was sleeping in the only other bedroom on the 2nd floor, probably the 2nd smallest in the house. All of a sudden, we heard footsteps on the stairs. Like, not coming up the stairs, but walking from the top step to the one below it, then to the top again. We went dead silent. We convinced Caitlin to go check if Levi was asleep, and he was. He sleeps very heavily, but is terrible at fake-sleeping. She even tickled him, and he didn't laugh or anything. We were freaked out. Then, it happened again, but the door creaked open a bit. We got Caitlin to go shut the door, and didn't get much sleep that night. The very next morning, I woke up, and it was pitch black (we have thick curtains, it gets bright early) Alex was dead asleep. Caitlin sleeps lightly. I could've sworn I heard creaking footsteps coming towards my bed. I threw a sock or something at Caitlin and made her go turn the light on. She did, and there was nothing there. So, I went downstairs and had breakfast. I was so freaked out, and haven't had anything like it since. I'm not saying I believe in ghosts, but that was freaky.

Also I should have a 15yr old daughter but someone through me over their shoulder like fireman's lift when i was half way through pregnancy and I saw her remains after passing her at hospital that's also burned into my brain. The comments and replies made by the OP are the weirdest thing, they're so incoherent and ugh idk
Specially all his replies on the girl whose boyfriend hanged himself

This wasn't real but I once had a dream where it was a Belgian morning television show, then you just heard screaming and then it went to a video with a sphere with the Belgian flag spinning and next to it it said "Broadcasting has ended temporarily because multiple people have died, sorry for the inconvenience." or something like that and then I looked at my phone and on twitter it was the Belgian TV channel posting all the people who had died. It was just a dream but I remembered it when I woke up and it was kind of disturbing.

This happened a few months ago after I get home from my third semester at college. I was in my house watching my little brother when I heard a cat whaling like it was in pain. Me being a lover of animals I decided to see what was going on. The close and closer I got to my backyard the sound started to become less and less frequent. It almost became like a silent meowing sound and then it stopped entirely. For a second, I couldn't hear anything around me, not even the wind. I ran faster than I have ever in my life back to my front door and I heard a sound rustling noise on the fence back there. To this day I don't know what was back there or what was trying to lure me. But, all I wonder is what would I have seen if I got closer to the sound and what would I have found?

It’s hard to think about, I rarely if ever talk about it outside of my wife because I needed someone to trauma dump on.
Mother of 3 infront of me on the interstate driving a mini van. All 3 of her children were under 8. A semi came over on her and rammed her into another vehicle on the side of the road. Instantly threw my hazards on and stopped.
This part is hard… there was blood everywhere. But my brain didn’t recognize it as blood. It was greyed out. Like there but not there. I didn’t even realize there were bits of the kids all over the road until the first, first responder showed up. And he picked up one of the kids arms and was just holding it. Then he walked over to one of the children that had been ejected and was cradling them.
I live in a small town, that police officer retired. He wakes up at night and screams, he stuck there waiting for the emts and fire and rescue to arrive. I don’t have good dreams about it either. I start sweating and get severe anxiety whenever a semi gets beside me on the interstate. I’ve had nightmares of my kids being all over the road.

I used to live in a haunted house.
Doors would open on their own,
Knocks on the window, objects would sometimes move.
I would see figures in and around my home,
I once saw an orb float from the living room into my bedroom,
I've seen one of my friends possessed by a demon.
I prayed (Christian prayer) over my friend and the demon left her.
It is not my power. It is Christ. That's for sure.
    Terrible nightmares living there.
Even my pet rabbit would act strangely often and
And believe me it just got noticably worse at night.
I've seen a lot of things.
It was so bad that I just decided to move out.
When I left that house on the last day I knew that I wasn't supposed to go back inside.
My grandmother who went in for the final time told me that there was a strong energy inside.
Most terrifying thing I've been through and I hope I never go through that again.
Don't mess with demons folks and be careful what you do inside your home. It matters.

I think I was around 10 years old, visiting my grandparents who lived on 6 acres in the country. Their property had fields that lined two sides, in the corner of the yard where the fields wrapped around the yard my grandparents had a small garden. Due to the proximity of the hayfield to their garden, my grandpa was always dealing with pests and rodents the worst were the groundhogs.
On this day I remember seeing something moving out in the garden and pointing it out to my grandpa. He said something under his breath, probably cursing the pesky rodent, and then disappeared into the garage. About 5 min later he came back to the yard with his 12-gauge in hand. He took a good 2 min to locate the groundhog because it was walking away from the garden in the knee-high hay, lined up the shot, and took it. I'll save the gory details, but something that small isn't supposed to be hit with a projectile at that speed with that much force...the impact of the slug hitting the groundhog basically eviscerated it and turned it inside out. I know only because he brought it to the house and cleaned it, keeping the yummy bits, to feed the "wild dogs".
That alone was super disturbing but I think what made it so disturbing was the cavalier attitude my grandfather had during the encounter. His handling of the groundhog after the fact and the comment he made and chuckled at. When he said it I didn't get it, and now I don't remember exactly what he said. I just remember it was the first time I had ever heard my grandpa use dark/sarcastic humor.

With the houseparent story at 10:20, I do wonder if maybe that child had one or both of their parents (or other relative) die in their sleep or something like that, and due to their trauma would watch the houseparents (that they would have become attached to) in their sleep to make sure they're breathing to put their mind at rest. Not a psychologist or anything, and the thought of a child experiencing trauma is disturbing, but I think there's a reasonable likely trauma-related (considering the type of boarding school it was) reason for the behaviour. Trauma can make you do some very strange things.

So one time, my brother was taking out the trash, and someone screamed, RUN! And he ran in, terrified, and told us about it. So, for some reason, a school in the district has a very violent game for the quire called Assassin, and that’s what it was. I’m kinda grateful that our dog got out an jumped on this person who had a child involved with that, or we would’ve thought there was a murderer in the neighborhood and called the police. Scared my family to death. I started to cry out of fear and my mom got mad that a SCHOOL made a game called Assassin.

Yup. It’s great code for people like me who tell detailed stories, or make comments into essays. Then I get to the end and realise how much I’ve written, but I don’t want to edit/ rewrite. I can just write a one sentence summary. People scrolling comments get a choice, they can read the TL;DR and if interested read my essay.
      So....
TL;DR, Too long, didn’t read, it’s a signal of a *short* summary to give readers a choice of long/short read
