Lucida | Flip Flappers AMV | AKROSS Con 2017

Lucida, meaning the brightest star in a constellation.
I recommend to download the AMV, UA-cam really kills the quality. Links are below.
I wanted to make an optimistic AMV using Flip Flappers and explore combining some interesting genres together, in this case action and story.
This way I'd not run out of scenes, I'd still get to create something meaningful and I'd not be restricted on how to approach the action part.
Gigantic thanks goes to Lampička, for redrawing the scene used for credits so I could animate it, drawing all the elements that were not in the original video and for doing a great at color correction c:

The Akross results are out and I got 9th place.

I went into the contest with my eyes set on top10 and I actually got there with my first Akross entry, so I'm super happy still.
So far the feedback from people and other editors has been probably the best I ever got, so that motivates me a ton. I'll try to make more of these "personal" AMVs, because they are so much more fun to make and I'm also way more satisfied with the result video. Even if they don't score super high in contests.
2017 has been such a good year. I made twice as many videos than usual, I met some super nice people from the amv community and I also finally joined an international amv contest. I hope 2018 will be as good if not even better.

Yes, please do focus on more intimate videos like this. To me a good AMV isn't just a showcase for the technical skill of the editor, but a condensed representation of an aspect of the show. And this does that perfectly, I haven't even seen the anime yet (though I certainly will now), but in this AMV even I can see the sense of wonder the show portrays and how deeply important the friendship between the two girls is. I've never understood how some AMVs become so popular when they have nothing of the spirit of the show in them, just editing - however good - and randomly picked action shots to random hype music. :x
So thank you for this, perfect shot composition, superb editing, fantastic song choice and just a lot of emotion. Keep up the great work, it is appreciated. =)
