At the time we got these in a group order, they were the only one around for a price this good. They had a cotton linen mix for a material, and the right cut! floppy like the original HBT you see at fairs as well!
My tropical tunic has the same button rings in place of sewing. I find it more comfortable, I feel less afraid the buttons will pop off and they slide through the buttonholes more smoothly than on my continental tunic. A theory on why they are there is to make them easier to wash, so you don't need to worry about sewing, since they were issued for training.
Actually its for easier cleaning. They used to clean clothes with a washing board and a „Mangel“ dont know the english word. Thats also the reason for the cardboard buttons on the shirt.
The Buttons are but on the Tunic with S-Rings, because the intention was, that you could remove them before a good wash.
Great channel

I was first surprised when I feld good drillich. Very flimsy and thin
Looks like you have a nice garden there to work in, aging it shouldn't be a problem!
This uniform will be used all over the place, and the garden is no exception for sure 😄

You could be correct about the button theory. It's German so there must be a very good reason why 😂

@@jesperwerle4848 thank you very much!
Nice If I’m correct these can be bought from Gavin Militaria. As well as Kelley’s and Hessen Militaria
I think you are correct. Panther store has them as well. There certainly are more but these are the larger vendors for sure.
Tolles Video Danke mein Freund
Finally, a German Uniform that isn't itchy
Had WH ever used M33 Drillichanzug in combat? I knew SS used lots of Drillichanzug in combat.
Very rarely the green ones. It is better not to do that though
