Thank you a lot man! I hope you help many people with this, it took me 6 days (including the weekend) for my lense to get repaired by canon and it works to perfection now. 465$CAD was the total for me but it was EXACTLY the same issue. I guess on the 5 year mark for that specific lens that's a common issue. Thanks for everything!
Thank you! I’m so glad that this video was helpful and I’m glad to hear that you got it fixed! With how much we use our gear, it makes sense that after so much wear and tear they need a little more tlc! Hope you’re loving how it feels now since it got repaired. Mine still feels like it’s new when I zoom in and out!
Sorry to hear that you ran into the error too but send that to canon and get that fixed! I got mine fixed in probably about a week’s time including shipping it out and when it was delivered back to me.
My lens started failing during an event, it freaked me out since I was away from my other backup camera. Nothing else has worked so I may also have to send it out too. Thank you for this video!
Thank you, this was very helpful and I have the same situation with the same lens and wonder if there is some manufactures defect with that Canon lens. I had mine less than a year and was shooting with it when it failed.
I hate that this video is so helpful sometimes because that means so many people are having this issue. I think that if your lens is still less than a year old, can you contact Canon about your warranty? Have you registered your lens on Canon’s site? I wonder if you’re still under warranty with your 24-70
I did try to speedup abit. Did you seriously make a "brief" 15-min video to just tell people to go use Canon repair service? I appreciate your elaboration of price but I'd have expected a 90 second video ...
I had this message 01 error I cleaned the lens still the same thing, so what I did was push the button that closes the lens and turn the lens a tiny bit and it works, so it has nothing to do with the lens being dirty but the contact was not on that is all now it works fine.
Man I'm getting this error every shoot if I'm consistently shooting by about minute 45. I'm using 5d Mark iv and 35mm prime lens. Mini session season in full swing it's killing me!!
I got the same issue with brand new R6M2 with Sigma 20mm lens. Swapped the lens to Sigma 14mm and same issue. :/ Never had these issues before with 5DM4 and 2 lenses having issues at the same time, suspicious. Did it happen, this issue was to do with the camera body itself or the lens adapter?
I actually got this issue on my 5DMIV but it was a fault of the lens. I’ve actually never run into this issue with any of my sigma lenses. It is suspicious that 2 lenses are having that issue. It’s making me think that it might be the lens adapter or the camera lens connecting points that might be causing the issue. Are the lenses you used primes?
Thank you for your video. This happen to me at a job, but I too had another camera and lens with me. I will be contacting Canon, to have my lens shipped for repair. The 24-70 is my favor lens!!!
Dang, sorry that that happened! My heart stopped when it happened to me loll but I hope you get it fixed soon! 24-70 is one of my favorites too for sure!
I have this exact issue, I did everything exactly how you did it, I went through canon to see a price for a repair and the price was $220 and the lens I have the issue with is only like $130 so it doesn't seem right if I'm paying twice what the camera Lens costs for the repair when I can just buy a new lens with that money. But I could get an even better lens for that much.
That…makes no sense at all that the repair costs more than the lens itself! What lens is it? I would probably buy a new one and consider the old lens “totaled” if you’re looking for an upgrade. I do wish Canon would provide some official troubleshooting steps or things that we could do on our own.
@@ericsunphotography I have a Canon EOS Rebel T100 with the 18-55mm they normally come with. That lens is lime $120-$140 on Amazon, BH, Facebook Marketplace, etc and they're charging be twice from what it costs new.
@@swphotography928 the standard 18-55 kit lens from the rebels is all plastic and not worth repairing. It's a low quality walk about lens. Save your money and either pick up a used 18-55 (most people just dump them on craigslist) and save up for a 24-105 or 24-70. Those are top quality glass and worth repairing for sure.
I’m having the same problem with a brand new lens and camera. Pulled both out of the box and can’t even take a photo. Do you think they’ll fix it for free under warranty?
Dang! Sorry you got this issue right out the box but absolutely. You should 100% reach out to Canon about the issue and create an account and register them if you can to see if you can get your gear looked at!
I had this problem with 100-400, i cleaned the contacts with a microfiber cloth and my shirt :), at first it didnt work, but cleaned the lens and my camera and it worked.. thank god.
All this is great if you have All Canon lenses, I have the same problem with my Sigma 150-600 brought this brand new, only used about half a dozen times ,tried cleaning lens and camera (550d) with no luck. Please help.
Sorry to hear that you’re having this issue! I know you bought the sigma lens new but how old is the sigma lens and what camera body are you using? I read online (after some super quick research) that some sigma lenses need an updated chip but that’s was if you were using a newer canon body where there’s a communication issue between the lens and the newer body.
In my case, the only problem happens is with my Tokina 11-16mm lens. the error came out when I turn my lens down to 11mm. It all good when I turn it to 16mm. Cleaning never works.
Problem is I got the lens used. Stupid me didn't test it before leaving the store. Oddly it will work in Auto mode but not manual mode. I have it on an adapter on the r6 mark ii. have to go back to the store tomorrow. If they can't resolve it I'll get it refunded and buy the lens new.
What could be the problem with the 18-55 lens, can I shoot with an aperture of 4.5 without zoom and with zoom up to 5.6? Thanks to anyone who responded
Same lens. Only works on f/2.8, so I'm guessing something is fucked inside the lens itself. Paid £800ish for it 5 years ago, but half that time it's been sat mostly useless on the shelf. A shame.
Glad you had the 85 with you! Definitely sucks especially when you’re on a shoot but hope this video helped with figuring out how to resolve the issue on your lens!
@@ericsunphotography well, I don't have budget to send the lens to canon for repair...so my only option is to prey for god that somehow the lens works without any issue. 😅😅
Praying with you 🙏🙏 definitely gave me a mini heart attack when it happened to me but maybe checking to see if there’s a camera repair spot that’s cheaper? Just hate that you can’t depend on the 24-70 really anymore with that error coming up now
Exactly the same with my 24-70mm. When you zoom in you get the error message. So basically your fix was sending it to Canon so they can pull your pants down and charge you 400 dollars for the lens they sold you for 1200 dollars. What a bunch of tossers. This is my second lens that has done it. The latest one lastest just 4 months. It was second hand but I'd expect more than 4 months. I'm pretty dissapointed with this tbh. I'd be even more dissapointed with this if it was a high end EF lens like this one. Wonder if Nikon cameras have this problem.
Yea, sending it to canon was the only solution that I could find and didn’t find too many resources about this error message so I wanted to make this video. I definitely agree with you especially since you had to get your lens fixed just 4 months after buying it! I haven’t heard any other grand have this issue but then again, I’ve only really used canon so I’ve never had the need to research outside of canon errors and lenses.
@@ericsunphotographyReading all the responses, I wonder if there is a defect with that lense. It costs roughly $1500.00, so you would expect it to be durable and at least last a year. Thanks for your help. I've tried everything else, so will probably send mine in too.
@anandastone4307 👎👎 for the fact you’re having this problem so soon! I responded to your other comment but if your lens is still that new, I would check my warranty and register my lens on Canon’s website if you have an account set up and see if this would qualify for the warranty to get your lens repaired.
