Wow. Some pretty friendly comments on here, huh? Pretty cool. I just bought a td-20 module and was wondering about the VH-12. This video helped me decide that it's pretty great. Thanks
Pretty amazing. I bought one as a present to myself after a deployment to Iraq. Spent a lot. Fiddled around with it until I thought I was ready to go on stage. After spending $4000 for the module and kit, I had to spend another $4000 for amps. I still have it, but I play on stage with my good ol' Tama kit.
This guys a solid Badd ass drummer.! He touches on this module very well. I see a lot of haters.! Drum on peeps.! This drum module is so unreal on apps and so much you can do to the sounds and tuning and creating depths. Mic positioning. This is a must buy. Since td30 is out these will be affordable. Roland at least a hold great market value.! Unlike all the joke digitalis out there.
Found a set for sale today and BOUGHT them ..1 owner TD-20x with the big silver shells not the smaller black ones. It's the same kit being demo'd here. Came with a Pearl Double pedal and a decent Crate keyboard amp (i'll be selling that) I already have the Roland TDA 700 amp. The kit is like new...$2400 what do u guys think? good deal?
How is the sound from the module being recorded to the video live? I'm trying to set up a quarantine zoom session with my band. I'm not sure the best way to get my td-20 module sound to go live to the video. Sorry I'm a total newbie at this kind of production.
Funny, I can think of at least 3 VSTs that can create fool-the-ear realism that would rival what this module can do (which, of course, is just an embedded system running software derp). This is an amazing kit for sure, but I feel better about myself for buying a $300 Alesis kit and sending midi to a laptop...far more powerful, tho maybe doesn't feel as realistic to play - for those applications, I just use the real thing.
not all of us can use the real thing ,my a kit sits because if i ever played it i would be evicted so its ekits for me only ,i currently use a td9 with some of my akit drums converted to edrums with internal triggers and roland mesh heads ,its very nice to play on
Well, as I said: "for those applications" - when I want/need the real thing is usually live. At home, I just use electronic. But no need to spend a billion dollars on it, if you do a little research to learn how to set it up, the cost of a VSTi and a lower-end kit is way more practical, and will perform VERY well for at-home practice or recording.

Are the percussion sounds on it? Bongos timbales cowbell?
The title says TD20
(produced 2004 - 2012)
but he says TD20X, so which one is it?
sounds great anyway
It's the TD20X, you can tell by the silver cymbals. By the way the TD20X is the same as a TDW20 (A TD20 with the expansion card added).

Does anyone know where I could get an expansion card for my TD20?
Please message me if you do! Thx

I mean, the drums sound really good and the drummer is good, but why is he starting off with music that sounds like the end credits to The Cosby Show?
Because the time signature is great and you're a shitty drummer ?
Sorry, but the stock kits on the TD-20 are not even 1/10th of what this module is truly capable of..
That crappy's 80's sit com fill music at the beginning was stupid as shit. Just a fuckin' ridiculous choice!
