It really reflects badly on Reggie that he vouched for this guy, who ended up being so mouthy and in my honest opinion was doing that on purpose to sort of make the show all about him. I’m just like cringing for Reggie during each slip up.

The premise of the joke is that the slide whistle is being used at inappropriate times because of how serious the topic is. This kind of joke is not possible without using a serious topic that shouldn't be taken lightly. If everyone was like you, it would be impossible to joke about anything, because pretty much everything in life is serious if thought about deeply enough. The entire point of comedy is to allow us to laugh in the face of the darkness of life as part of the effort to make life worth living.
Based on your comment I feel like you probably don't make other people laugh very often. So maybe you're not qualified to give public lectures about how comedians ought to go about their business of giving people relief through laughter. Careful... if you clutch those pearls too tightly you might break your necklace. And then how would people know how much better you are than them?
