- While they were opening their Christmas gifts, these grandparents were given one final gift that they weren’t expecting. After peeking inside the box, her grandmother noticed that it was full of toys and pet supplies, and after a brief moment of confusion, she immediately looked at her granddaughter knowing what was coming next.
That’s when their front door opened, and their brand new puppy was brought home for the very first time. Her reaction was priceless as the pup immediately melted into her grandmothers arms, making for the best Christmas surprise they could have asked for ❤️

@@alwayshangrygirl463 bro how do you know if the grandma lives alone
It's a nice gift, as long as someone in the family is willing to care for the dog when grandma and grandpa no longer can.
Yup, and help train a puppy because that little guy is gonna poop and pee every hour
I just hope it’s a low maintenance breed … thinking of exercise, too!
exactly, but yeah i bet they had been wanting to get a puppy beforehand, at least i hope
That’s a much kinder way to say what I was thinking
I really hope the dog and grandparents pass around the same time. The two of them will be deeply saddened of the dog were to die before them after growing so attached to it. However, if one or both pass away before the dog, it will completely shatter it. I've seen how a loyal dog reacts to the death of an owner, and it made me cry for half an hour.
A couple years after my grandfather passed away, my uncle found a stray kitten right outside his house door. He gave it to my grandmother who was lonely the days we didn’t visit her. She now treats the cat as if he were her grandson
Cats are easier than puppies if the person is able to take care of a litter box.
animals heal alot of wounds. let me tell you my brother. every day is a struggle. but the animals pull you forward. relentlessly. out of the dark. into the light.
@@collettelemons8892puppies are easy to if you potty train and so are cats they need to know to do bathroom in a litter box. So both are the same as easy
We had an elderly friend that was given a puppy after her beloved dog past away. The problem was our friend tree years later also passed away and the now adult dog ended up in a local shelter. Thank goodness because he was a pure bred, well trained and a sweet dog he was adopted. There are senior dogs out there looking for loving homes. I’m not judging, I know this gift brought great joy to this couple, but there is a reality side of this too. If I could just say, make sure should something happen, there is a family member or friend willing to take on the dog. Or give some thought to adopting an older dog in need of a home.
I am sorry for your loss.
Dogs really do make a big difference. After my grandpa passed away my grandma got a dog, he was her reason to get up everyday & he’s her companion now
yet people in the comments are making up reasons to be angry saying why they shouldn't own a puppy lol just complaining for the sake of it 😂

I'm over 70. I wouldn't want a puppy. I'd prefer an older pet that was housebroken and walked well on a leash. I'm too old to be training puppies at this stage! 😂

@@georgewilliamsiii4677 oh. Sooo your gonna take in that PUPPY when its full grown and still energetic and their not physically strong enough or energetic to care for him?
Don't ever buy a senior citizen a puppy. The work that a puppy needs is too much for us senior citizens. We can't get up numerous times during the night anymore. Personally, I have rescued dogs that are 3 plus years old. They are already potty trained, you already can see their personality, and they are still going to live a long time. Do not burden a senior citizen with a puppy😮
I have to agree with you. Although puppies are cute they are a lot of work. If you are a senior its best to get an older dog already potty trained and one that fits your current life style.
hard disagree, people talk about their interests and that looks like a shitzu, smartest small dog and relatively low mantainance, perfect for older people.
also normal people usually have somebody that can take care of the dog in case the worst happends, which is not the case here, they look young not older than 65 so they'll def outlive the dog, they look healthy and seemed happy,

Theres nothing like a pet! They will love you for the rest of their life.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who recognizes how sweet this is but also what a major burden a puppy is on anybody let alone senior citizens.
surprising someone with a dog is risky. that's a serious commitment, it's not a plaything that you can just return with a gift receipt. that being said, these folks are clearly happy so in this case it's probably all good. perhaps they had expressed serious interest previously so it was a safe move.

Rescuing an older animal for a senior citizen is the best way to go! Puppies are so much work. I hope they all help out and this situation worked out well though
Giving someone a dog is a lifetime commitment. You better be sure that they understand that. It’s not fair for the dog or them if they’re not fully behind the decision.
It's nice to see the excitement on their faces. A puppy they were not expecting. Congratulations for getting a new puppy.
Ok, you made me cry, adoreable, puppy and grandparents.
This is very sweet and all, but man rescuing a senior dog would be just the best thing for an elderly couple compared to a puppy. You get to save a dog that would likely be overlooked by most, your grandparents get a wonderful companion that doesn’t need much, and as much as no one wants to think about it…you don’t end up with a young dog with no one to care for it when their elderly owners pass away.
That smile... beautiful 😊

Very cute and sweet ❤🎉 I hope they're gonna help grandma with the training though bc that takes alot of energy and effort 😅
My grandmother would have thrown it out the door. In general a puppy is a very bad gift, especially for the elderly. It should be a discussion among all involved. Dogs are expensive, puppies and trip their caretakers. They chew everything, get everything hairy and dirty. I love dogs, but at 75, I can't properly care for one.
How do you know that they hadn't previously expressed their wish for a small companion???
YOU DON'T!
So don't make assumptions 😡

@@ellewright6991 no need to get so mad, it’s a common thing to not gift someone who is unprepared such a big task, puppies are a LOT of maintenance, they need to be potty trained, house trained, learn basic commands, has to be walked and played with about every hour of the day. And I’m not saying that puppies are a bad gift, I’m only saying it’s not very appropriate to gift an elderly person or someone who is not prepared to deal with a puppy. I would really want to know the life span of the puppy, because if the elder people die on the pup, then the puppy would be heartbroken. And no one likes a heartbroken puppy..
So many elderly people leave young dogs behind. Give them calm rescues over puppies. Mine was only 3 when her previous owner died. She has about 11-12 years left to go. It was very traumatic to lose her human so now she's attached to my hip and scared ill leave her, too.
I don't know if I would've necessarily given my grandmother a puppy but that was sweet.
What a beautiful moment. This made my heart and face smile.
As a breeder, don’t do this, it’s great when it works out, but I see the other side of when it doesn’t. Instead, let the surprise be the person picking the puppy out from the litter or meeting it at the breeders for the first time. That way, if there is a problem, it happens before there is a firm commitment.
You’re right, but as a breeder, you’re also part of the problem. There are plenty of homeless and shelter animals that need homes.
