It has been about a year since I made this video and I made a in depth class about this same topic on Skillshare! Feel free to check it out! Also If you like my style of videos (not the tutorial ones) I also made made a step by step how to level up your video. www.skillshare.com/en/r/user/mrchops?gr_tch_ref=on
I would carefully avoid concealing cameras in bathrooms, showers, playgrounds or anywhere the public may not want to be photographed. There's nothing worse than being falsely accused, it could follow you for the rest of your life. Your last point is the best one, people don't care, so there's no point in hiding.
I'm not shy to film an interview or shots in public. But if I have to make a shot of myself in public, especially cities like Amsterdam... oh hell nah.
Great video! As someone whos quite shy and introverted myself, this really helps because it directly addresses the fears in my head by concealing it through logical thought (camera placement tricks, etc.), instead of feeling like there is a spotlight on me because I happen to be holding a camera/infront of one that people directly see. Thanks a lot.
Great video, thanks! I've never thought of tip 2 & 3. Now the thought of filming myself outside alone doesn't seem THAT intimidating anymore :D Also really cool to discover a content creator in Munich!! :)) Maybe we could connect sometime when I've overcome my fear of filming outside and have actually put out some videos hehe Liebe Grüße :) Maggie
YOOO I am currently going through this as well, I kinda felt embarassed and felt that everyone was looking at me, talkin about me or laughin or judgin. But the thing is I didn't stop lol because it was my passion, even though I am only a beginner at filming things and documenting my life, I would honestly prefer being alone and having the scene "Not Crowded" but in times where you have no choice it was really awkward and fun.
Monopods are much better for quickly getting a tripod like shot, but you can also experiment with where you put your camera. On a curb, a chair, use a handheld mic so you don’t have to talk loud. Find ways to have fun because that’s what will keep you trying!
@@mrchopslots of monopods have 3 little legs at the bottom that support it so you can actually leave it without it tipping over. Not as secure as a normal tripod but the trade off is its much faster to put down, get the shot and pick up again. It looks funny lol
I agree that when you realize that no one really care about what you are doing in public, it makes you put out a tripod and film yourself so much easier....than after the only thing you need to worry about is if anyone would run up and snatch your entire set up 😨
Some very helpful tips on how to hide your camera however gotta be extremely careful at the same time as there are many thieves out there these days too unfortunately and if they see a camera unattended they will for sure take it and run off with it and also for hiding the camera inside the bag too if they see a bag unattended again they will takeoff with that too without even looking and not knowing what is actually inside the bag.
Those were some great tips but i come from a city where thievery is pretty common so m really scared of putting my camera somewhere on the road.also suppose i want to film a scene where i go to a book shop to buy a book,im so scared to do that cuz i feel like what will the shopkeeper say when i put a camera aside & talk to him about book price, thinking of it makes me feel so embarrassed but i really wanna do this
Yeah everything with common sense! About the talking with the shopkeeper, maybe you could just put the camera along with other things and record at least the audio of the conversation, that way it will feel natural and you can later shoot other things related to put on top while the audio is playing!
1. I don't have a person so Nope 2.I live in the US so I don't trust anyone around me I am not a fast runner so right way I Lose 3k in camera gear. 3. again anyone can run up and steal my gear again from the us so that is a HUGE NONO unless you want to get robbed. 4. a thrid time leaving stuff out in the open is a grate way to get robbed even if you think it's hidden it is not to someone looking to rob. Overall, these tips are a 3 out of 10 if you live in the US, Canada, or Mexico. However, if you live in East Asia, like Japan, Korea, Singapore, and so on, then they are a solid 9/10. I don't know about the EU, but I'm guessing it's not as bad as the US, so maybe a 6/10. Overall, these notes do factor in location, in my opinion. I'm not camera shy; I just think these tips don't really help people who want to talk to the camera head-on in public. They mainly focus on filming yourself walking around, which isn't bad. Nothing I'm saying here is meant to criticize anyone, just pointing out that most people want to know how to talk to a camera in public because filming ourselves is really easy when we don't need to talk to the camera.
interesting, does New York or New Jersey count? because i applied the same techniques there! it heavily depends on the actual spot, I would not do it in times square for example as its a hot spot for tourists and potentially robbers. However a few streets next to it is completely fine! I can't say about mexico as I've never been there though
@@mrchops what do you think about insta360? I have thought to acquire it soon, but while waiting for the budget I keep practicing taking footage using my phone especially since I already have a tripod, I love tripod it really useful haha
in my honest opinion, i think a normal interchangeable lens camera is better for long term use. The insta 360 is great, but limited in use, going for a more well rounded gear might suit you best

Yes, common sense above all!

It's possible! I did a video about biking in amsterdam and I applied some if these techniques :)

Thank you! Glad this helps, good luck on your video journey!
Thank you x 1,000,000!!! Never filmed in public and was probably never going to cause of just how attention-grabbing the tripods are 😅

Well done! I'm not sure if that feeling ever gets away hahah good luck!
OMG. This is so helpful. Thank you so much.
best of luck filming!
Omg the camera in bag idea is genius! Im gonna be using that!
Just be careful where you place it otherwise a good chance someone will try and steal the bag even without knowing whats inside the bag

where would you place the monopod alone? like against a wall? (i genuinely never used monopods)

good video
Glad you enjoyed!
what action camera is that
i want to start vlogging and become better at storytelling
its a sony fdr x3000, but you might want just a normal camera for vlogging, an action camera might not be the best for it

3:25 😂
But I can’t afford a camera now and I’m a content creator. I live what I do but I’m very shy to film in public space
But i love my tripod 🥺 i wish others just would ignore me or atleast do so in my head
Step 1: Stop being introverted and ask a friend to film 😭
this was really helpful! thank you for sharing and for keeping it short and to the point!
