We have Gentex commander theft alarms and they sound a Code 3 chime to alert staff that someone is stealing. It's so interesting to hear in person. 1:49
My local Kroger has white Gentex Commanders with green strobes that alert the staff if someone stole a cart, or a cart has reached too far from the parking lot.
We have 1 of these in my school. All the rest are commander 1 strobes in classrooms and bathrooms a couple commander 1 horns and the rest Wheelock mini horns. For pull stations we have 3 Fire Lite BG-8s 3 Notifier BNG-1s 3 Notifier N-BG10s 2 IBM 4050s one simplex T-Bar 1 simplex rebranded Faraday Chevron and 5 IBM rebranded Faraday Chevrons.
2:47 they have those blue models as Emergency exit door alarms at the Lowe's here in Monroe. They also are set on the "Whoop" tone. Sorry to say this but, Holy crap, those things are loud, honestly.
My school's Commander 3s are set to the Code 3 tone. What's funny is that we don't set off the alarms during evac drills (I have no idea why), and one time, someone set off the fire alarm during zero period (I don't have a zero), and I heard the alarm through my friends' Snapchat stories.
My school has the first tone at the same time as a hellish high-pitched tone that is painful to listen to, kids are literally having to cover their ears to not be wincing in pain.
My church originally had the Gentex Commander 3 throughout the building but I have noticed that with the expansion of the building and interior renovation they are replacing them all with Spectralert PC2RL ceiling and P2RL wall mounts throughout the building. They are being placed in the same locations as the original horn strobes in areas where no modifications are made and they have some new mountings going up but right now they have Gentex Commander 3s either hanging from the ceiling on the wires through the ceiling tiles and some hanging from the wires through the wall mounts so Im assuming they are putting in a whole new fire alarm system as part of the project.
They had one of these in 1 of the buildings of my elementary school and trust me. They were loud. The only time I heard them was when it was almost dismissal. And we were having fun time and it went off
For the pull station featured in this video, which is a BG-12, you don't have to flip the switch to reset it. Just open it, and then close it without flipping the switch because when you close it, it automatically flips the switch back up.
1:48 Okay, that's MY favorite chime! Code 3 chime. I heard this in a video by S.E.R. Safety. I'll provide the link to that video. So that's probably what the edit is gonna be, alright?
At my local Kroger they have these as theft alarms (the alarm that goes off if you walk out without paying for something in your cart). They are set to code 3 tone and they are white with yellow strobes
That's illegal. The national fire evacuation horn pattern is code 3, and if it's used for anything else, that's misuse of fire alarm equipment. They should change it to Continuous, because Continuous can be used for Non-fire emergencies.
my work at uses these as security alarms, the most annoying way to tell you "you entered your badge pin wrong" continuous horn for a breach or no access, continuous chime for a door being held open too long. Two of them mounted side by side for different chimes
At a grocery store in Philadelphia, they had these in white with green strobes as what appears to be their shoplifting alarm. I heard it go off a couple times, and it was doing Code 3 Chimes. Not sure why they'd use that code for a priority outside of fire.
Sounds like it wasn't set on the correct tone. Me personally it'd make more sense if the alarms were on Continuous Chime, or Whoop. At a local Lowes where I'm at, I heard a Gentex Commander 3 door alarm (unmarked white alarm with a clear strobe) go off and it was on Continuous Chime. In my case I believe the strobes should be in a different color, like amber or blue, so people don't get the strobe mixed up with the fire alarms. They have Wheelock AS's as the fire alarms but still.
My elementary school had Siemens UMMTs that sounded like the code 3 tone but not exactly the tone they sounded in sounded more like a smoke alarm you have in your average house lol
@@EvanStoneProductions Same! My middle school has Simplex 4903-9105 strobes, Wheelock Eh-El-1r horns, and Simplex TrueAlert horn/strobes. They are obnoxious but not as frightening because at my elementary, the alarm would also sound through the intercoms which were LOUD and I sat right underneath it.
Kristin Grove they are not gentex at my school and they are set to whoop some slow some faster and sound a continuous buzzing sound for 5 seconds for lesson change
Code 3 is personally my favorite on lo-frequency horns
2:17 My favourite chime.

Isn't fire alarms hanging down from the ceiling dangerous?

so your panel won't like silence the horn while the strobe is still on?or the NAC doesn't like sound?
I am pretty sure that Code 3 mechanical is the most recognized tone on a Commander 2 and 3.

I grew up with code 3 horn in all of my schools I went to 😌😌😌
My elementary schools (Huie, Edmonds, Fountain) had those fire alarms installed.
How many decibels are these?
1:46 I've heard the same sound from the alarm we have in the sainsburies stores. I don't know if gentex are rebranded for the UK?
