Brilliant response lol! ND talks about growing up in poverty - the hunger pangs, borrowing shoes to go to school. 'I understand the pain of others, of those living without' - says she 'and so I ensured that as many people as possible would also experience poverty by being in a government that brings mass poverty to all. Am I not generous!?'

A more honourable thing to have done was to remain a MP. Serve out the full term and then announce you're not standing at the next election. That's the correct procedure.
You're supposed to represent your constituency.
You may disagree with how Johnson was removed from office but you, Nadine Dorries, didn't resign when Johnson was removed as PM, you remained a MP when Sunak became PM. You didn't resign in protest. You're quitting now became you can't go on the House of Lords gravy train. That's a poor reason to quit as a member of Parliament. You should honour your pledge to represent your constituency for the full five year Parliamentary term.

Members of the House of Lords can claim up to £342 per day expenses for attending. The average number of days the Lords sits per year is around 150 - so if Nadine claimed her full entitlement and attended every day (as far as I'm aware nobody monitors how many hours she would be in the building, or whether she is participating in debates) she would received £49k tax free. She could also claim travel expenses on top of this. Compare that to someone claiming Universal Credit - who would get a maximum of £300 per month.

Most people don't like change but after the change is made they grow used to it and it becomes a non issue usually because their fears never materialize. The projects that initiated the process of regulation have not been ruined, they got involved in setting guidelines and helping the regulators understand the crypto space.
