- Natalia Trull plays the end of the Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 at the 1986 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She went on to win 2nd place behind Barry Douglas. Note the accurate, as-written playing of the glissando-like passages.
Natalia was my first piano teacher. I remember her being away for this competition. It's so great to see these old recordings of her.
zelik23 that's great. where is a recording of u playing?
She is a teacher of Eva Gevorgyan, one of the finalists in the Chopin competition in 2021 :-)
This is the first time I ever heard this concerto.
not enough recordings available of this amazing artist
I Have heard Natalia Trull live twice Rachmaninov piano concerto no 3 and The Solo recital!
Natalia Trull vs Barry Douglas 100-0!!!
I own her complete Prokofiev sonatas, which is a brilliant collection.
I hear she's a very good professor.
Veikko Suvanto more recordings needed
❤
What power!
and conviction, this is how i'm doing it... take it or leave it
Hope to hear more of her on YT
OMG those glissando things WOW !!!!!!
Yep. As written.
wow, simply wow! she's completely absorbed by the music! still, i don't know, how she played this glissando-like part, which is obviously no glissando?
There were a big controversy in the tchaikovsky competion in 1986 who was the real winner.I like natalia trull more hers structure shape form are better than douglas.RACHMANINOV 3 PIANO CONCERTO 3 NATALIA TRULL PLAYS WIT A GOLDEN TONE.There were people who tought that douglas was a winner.Others tought trull was the winner
Лучшее исполнение! Гениально!
Going on forty years, I still say she should have at least shared First Prize.
That was exemplary, to be honest. As much as I like Barry Douglas, I think this woman really brought the greatest technique to competition.
@jhudd2 Argerich did the glissando in 2:06 part instead of the true way like Trull did.
Совершенно полная отдача музыке. Это просто шедевр! Наталья Труль просто талантище. Браво
@jhudd2 It seems that there are different ways of playing that passage. I don't know it deeply enough, but Martha plays an "easier" version, while Trull is one of the few to play the harder one. I, personally, don't see the difference.
But, anyway, Trull has a different way of playing than Martha, who's more "free", natural.
YES!!!!!
i had in two natalia trull concerts she payed a solo recital mozrt duport variations and other sheplayed rachmaninov piano concerto 3 with a golden tone.A very few players gets same piano sound and tone in rachmaninov 3 not even ashkenazy.Natalia TRULL plays chopin scherzo a fine style if you compare players like horowitz pletnev bunin richter avdeeva buniatishvili and so on
WOW.
uno dei pochi pianisti che non corregge il tempo dell'orchestra nella parte finale...
❤
Dear God she is a Sorceress.
Wrong. She doesn't play the glissandos as written.
При всем уважении к Барри Дугласу, вот кому надо было отдавать Гран-при на том конкурсе.
Natalia Trull is currently professor at the Moscow Conservatory at this time.
yes, but they are given such tiny, tiny excerpts from the Tchaik 1st and some other etude in the prelims--it's one piece but they use like 5 pianists merged together--not really worth it unfortunately.
correction mozart duport variations
She's amazing!!! But Argerich seemed more at ease playing this. Her wrists look a tiny bit stiff...or does it just look like that?
Can we get it without the annoying "yes!" balloon caption? It detracts from the performance.
@lalalol1000 hahahahhahah
Natalia Trull should have played rachmaninov piano concerto 3 in the final of tchaikovsky competion in 1986 with that concerto she would have won with ease.PROKOFJEV 3 IS NOT AS GOOD COMPETION CONCERTO
With your middle school understanding of music-no wonder you do not know---
Too busy with the shallow and rather silly indirect trollin likee here', eh? ;-)
Great! Does anyone happen to have the playing of Victor Rodriguez, the sixth prize winner, and only Cuban prizewinner of the Tchaikovsky Competition, which was this year 1986? Also, David Buechner, as well?
excellent!!!!!... congratulations natalia!!!!!!
usually foreigners out side of russia players get higher places easily than home player.seen that many times in tchaikovsky competion history
the biggest upset of piano competions was in vienna in 1936 1.yakov flier 2.emil gilels yakov flier a boring and a cold player. emil gilels the duke of piano playing. Dinu lipatti got 2nd prize also in vienna in 1934.Dimitri bashkirov got 2nd prize margurite long competions.Bashkirov a same level as rubinstein
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that....was...!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent! I'd like to hear the whole thing, but I'd guess it doesn't exist.
Wow.
