Parle was started by Mohan Lal Dayal who had “Swadeshi” influence and wanted to produce biscuits in India. His main goal was to provide biscuits to poor people also as biscuits made then were extremely costly and were imported. This was the time were Mohan Dayal went to Germany and learned the process of biscuit manufacturing. After learning this, Mohan Lal bought a factory and he and his family started working on it. After years of hard work they finally created the first pack of Parle-G. The name “Parle” comes from the place their factory was located “Vile Parle, Mumbai”

Parle is my favorite too 😋😋 Initially in colonial times, the biscuits were very expensive in India as they were solely made by foreign companies. But the founder of Parle G company went to Germany, learnt the secret of making biscuits, and then started making them in India. Since then, foreign companies have been driven out of India from the biscuit market.

That was extremely interesting. It just goes to show how certain products from other countries can become extremely popular in some other countries and the people of the country which manufactures the product may not be aware how popular they are in other countries.
For example, long before the instant noodle, "Wai Wai," was officially made available in India, or even Lotte's "Choco Pie," was officially launched in India, both products were available (meaning to say that they were imported) in the early 90's in some places in India such as certain North-Eastern states .

Parle Products began manufacturing biscuits in 1939. In 1947, when India became independent, the company launched an ad campaign, showcasing its Gluco brand of biscuits as an Indian alternative to British-branded biscuits. Parle-G biscuits were earlier called 'Parle Gluco' Biscuits until the 1980s.
The aim was to let all Indians have biscuits at lower price and also was an important factor against hunger too

A little cynical. But I too think when foreigners (especially white one) creates video on indian songs and dance, they do it with a view to attract Indian subscribers.

Whole world is our families. so it is our priority to give best to all people at affordability

This biscuit is still going strong among all new flavours that come every year. Though it hit the market first in 1938, not sure if taste was same. But for past 5-6 decades, taste has been consistent. 80s, 90s kid loved it. Even today kids born after 2020 love it.

Thanks for pronouncing Parle properly! Paar-lay..named after Mumbai's Parle (also pronounced as Paarlaa) railway station outside which the factory was located. Every time u passed Parle station, u could literally smell the biscuit fragrance. The factory relocated (cost-cutting) but the company name remains Parle and they make 100s of products including the iconic Parle G (G=Glucose) biscuits - best had with Indian chai!
Also, the little girl's pic on the pack has remained unchanged for decades!
