    Thanks Bruce! You’re a legend for letting Mal share this.
    Mal…mate, this was awesome. These are exactly the types of vids we need. Plus they keep motivating me to practice before our next training session.
    By the way…it’s ‘Framing’ not bracing. But bracing works too! Oh, and loved the shredding around the corner comment!!! Lol!

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  Рік тому

      Haha framing!!! So close hey at least I got your name right! Bruce, and Grant, both did awesome and stoked they let me disrupt their training day! Cheers Mike hope your well!

    Bruce, i hope you're reading this, the only reason you dropped it in the sand is because you were in the standard attack position, when on sand or loose pebbly terrain you need to get right back (as far possible) and let the front float and do it's thing, always on the throttle and not decelerating. Great job!

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  11 місяців тому +3

      Cheers yeah hopefully Bruce reads this, by the time we hit the sand he was pretty exhausted! I think he got a few runs in successfully off camera towards the end, thanks for the tips I'm sure a few riders will read this.

    I love these videos, thanks so much Mal and Bruce. I lost my confidence in March when I had an off in some sand (not long after going for a fantastic group training ride with you, Mal) and broke some bones. Now I'm super-timid on anything not bitumen. Hate feeling like that. Your videos are giving me a bit of confidence back.

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  Рік тому +1

      Ahhh that's a bummer you had an off! Just take your time, work on the basics and go thru the process. Confidence takes time to rebuild. Bring cautious is a good thing. All the best. I do have a 2 day camp out in a few weeks it's on my website.

    Greetings from Canada! 🇨🇦 I just loved this episode and saved it into my favourites so I can share it with everyone that I ride with. The lesson about powering through a curve without power sliding will come in handy in the Canadian backcountry if I’m ever being chased by bear! 🐻😮Cheers! 😅

    My god this is awesome content Mal, I watched it a couple times so much tips picked up huge thanks !! I struggle braking in corners on rocky trails, tend to over shoot at times still controlable but I think I come in too hot at times.

      Cheers mate I really appreciate that comment! Yes just cool it a bit, brake straight, trail brake slightly to increase grip works well. Glad you enjoyed the content!

    So pleased you made this video, I had to watch it in three separate bits as there is so much info to take in. Having said that it brilliant, lots of techniques, but most importantly you start with the correct riding positions for various terrain, before going on the the technical stuff.. You made me laugh though.. "do I talk too much?" I guess that answer may be yes, but every word is worth listening to, so please don't talk any less...talk more if you feel you need to. :-) .

    Thanks Mal…Full disclosure I’ve been relying on your free you tube coaching videos for a while now…my development as a newer rider off road has a lot to do with your coaching I’ve watched that I’ve then gone out & practiced on the bike in the trail or dirt roads. If I didn’t have 2 kids in private high school & I wasn’t such a tight arse I’d pay for a one on one session…one day 😉

    Firstly, stick with the bald look it suits, I've had the ol' head shaved since '94...secondly, great instructional video, good refresher from all those years back riding for VicPol. Enjoying your presentation, very similar to Steve from Mongrel Dog Productions...educational, entertaining and to the point.

      Glad you got a bit of a refresher, as you would know its all about body position!
      Glad you enjoyed the vid!

    Hey, Mal, what brand of riding pants were those? And thanks to you and Bruce (and Grant 😝) for the video! I'm only 23 minutes in, and I've found some stuff I need to work on, particularly with how much the knees should be contributing to control of the bike. 👍🙂
    Also, sorry if I got your name wrong. This is the first video of yours I watched, and I think I missed it if you introduced yourself, so I just looked in the comments.

    Is it my vision or am I correct in thinking that the standing 'weight shift' posture for Bruce's left turn is better defined than for his right turn? How do one ensure 'symmetry' of posture?
