The Canadian family sponsorship program allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their close family members to become permanent residents of Canada. Here are the main eligibility requirements:
    *Who Can Sponsor:*
    1. *Sponsors must be:*
    - A Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
    - At least 18 years old.
    - Living in Canada (or, if a Canadian citizen living abroad, planning to return to Canada when the sponsored family member becomes a permanent resident).
    - Financially able to support the sponsored family member for a set period, depending on the relationship.
    *Who Can Be Sponsored:*
    1. *Spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner:*
    - Must be 18 years or older.
    - Can be of the same or opposite sex.
    2. *Dependent children:*
    - Must be under 22 years old and not married or in a common-law relationship.
    - If over 22, they can still qualify as dependents if they have a physical or mental condition that makes them dependent on their parents.
    3. *Parents and grandparents:*
    - There’s a specific stream for parents and grandparents called the **Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP)**. This program has a limited number of spots each year and requires the sponsor to show a higher income level to prove they can financially support them.
    4. *Other relatives:*
    - In rare cases, you can sponsor other relatives (like a brother, sister, niece, nephew, or grandchild) if they are orphaned, under 18, and not married or in a common-law relationship.
    - You can also sponsor one relative of any age if you have no other close living relatives you could sponsor.
    *Financial Requirements:*
    - *Sponsors must agree to support the family member financially* for a certain period (this is called an "undertaking"). For example:
    - For spouses or partners, the commitment period is 3 years.
    - For dependent children, it's 10 years or until the child turns 25, whichever comes first.
    - For parents and grandparents, it's 20 years.
Sponsors must meet minimum income requirements (Low Income Cut-Off - LICO) to prove they can financially support the sponsored person without relying on government assistance.
    *Additional Criteria:*
    - *Sponsors must not:*
    - Be in prison or have committed certain crimes.
    - Be bankrupt or receiving social assistance (except for disability reasons).
    - Have previously sponsored someone who later received social assistance during the undertaking period.
If the application is successful, the sponsored family member becomes a permanent resident and can enjoy the same rights as other permanent residents in Canada, including the right to work, study, and access healthcare.
Let me know if you need more details on any specific part of the process!
