I think what makes his playing with St. Vincent so beautiful is that he obviously doesn’t know the songs, so his improv reflects the tension in the music so much better.
Well said!
This is my favorite untold love story, St. Vincent and Andrew Bird. Almost put me to tears this time around.
That version of Black Rainbow is just awesome. It is wonderful to watch great musicians having fun when playing together.
I'm just hearing this, I must say its magic
I remember this being incredibly life-affirming in so many ways. I wish I’d been there in 2009(?) but man, you can’t beat this duo.
Edit: Also just wanted to say hello to all my fellow elder Millennials who are here with me re-living their early to mid-20s. What a fucking trip.
I do seem to find myself revisiting these older Andrew Bird performances when I'm feeling nostalgic! His new music is pretty amazing, but the 2010's were such a great time of musical discovery for me and Noble Beast has a permanent home in my heart. Still my favorite artist of all time!
Indeed, a trip it was!!
Not sure about the "trip", but the other word is apt.
I still listen to this, particularly Natural Disasters, at least 20 times a year. Still consider it some of the best simple harmonies I have ever heard. It’s so beautiful
I reckon I’ve been listening for a decade on various posts
it is incredible how they talk back and forth to each other
I have fallen in love with Andrew Bird. I cannot believe I had not heard of him until recently. It's okay everyone I am in mourning there are many types of love and his music and voice have made me fall in love with something that touches my heart
you must follow him on Instagram, shares 'live from his home' frequently - he was also in Squirrel Nut Zippers
holy shit those last two are incredible. i love how andrew had a knack for where annie wanted to go with the song.
This amazing. Especially black rainbow. Watching two artists work it out on the spot. Dang
This is by far my most prized playlist, it's now 2021 and I'm listening to how timeless this is. The state of the world and what the externally is doing raging inner wars, this is so fitting for the hour.
I come back to this time and again. It is something special
Funny moniker, hon. Were you meant to be "Dies Irae", by any chance? Day of Wrath? Now you're stuck with a misspelled nothing.
Really glad to see this in its entirety re-uploaded. I will never not return to this recording of Natural Disasters. It's life changing.
Damn music
And three years on, still YES
Agree wholeheartedly!
That version gives me chills it is so beautiful. There is a 2015 concert in paris called live at festival days off. In its entirety in my opinion it is his best work. If you are lucky enough to find it I highly recommend it.
this is pure musical collaboration
That part at 15:47 where everyone says bonsua in unison and she happens to hit a harmonious chord at the same time...the most beautiful sound
What a great moment to notice. I agree. Thanks for pointing it out. Simple things.
mans said BONSUA
bruh it's bon soir
"bonsua" 🤣🤣🤣
Bon soir
Really tripped out for a second when I saw the top of the description “stay home, stay safe !” when this was uploaded in 2017 😂 thought for a moment La Blogotheque predicted the future
Lol I didnt even notice that
These two are such a beautiful hybrid. Ive known of Andrew Bird for a few years now, and I knew St.Vincent to be quite revered for her talents but by the time I heard of her she was already a 'hipster' sensation so I stayed away. This video is older now and I wish I saw it earlier.
I'll never forget seeing the Black Rainbow song for the first time a few years ago, it was amazing. Didn't realize there were more songs from this set. ❤️
It feels.like it's been decades since I've seen this. I've been searching!
Just painfully, utterly superb. I'm at a beautiful loss for words, so, of course here I am rambling. And maybe a little bit in tears.
Revisiting this after so many years, what a great collab!
15:40 "St. Vincent is here and she wants to play with you." "She does??" "Yep"
I remember this tour, they're such a good compliment to each other.
It was before their toured together. We introduced them to each other that night :)
It was before their toured together. We introduced them to each other that night :)
Hehe, Blogothèque, musicians matchmakers since 2006
This version of Black Rainbow is fire!
so much goodness. Soul elixir, Mr. Bird. Thank you. Counting the days until Gezelligheid!!
So beautiful, and omygosh her laughter at @19:00 melts the heart.
Amadea Cesari Truly. Also like the happy little response to Andrew at 17:19 as well.
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR YEARS THANK YOU FOR REUPLOADING !!!!
you're welcome !
I had not yet discovered this performance, thank you this is mindblowing.
Her breaking the song Downton around 20 minutes is an epic set up to a beautiful song
she is beeeeeeeeeautiful....... i totally fell in love with her.
If i don t have her then i don t need any other woman. And it s no pb
This is too beautifulllllllllllllllllllllll
My heart.
Dear god! Sometimes I stop listening to Andrew without no reason, but when yt or when my aleatory playlist is on and I heard him, IT REALLY REMINDS ME how much I enjoy his existence in music.
Thx Andrew and YT today :)
It’s like they’re flirting with each other with every note they play 🖤😊
I am hipnotized. Thank you, La Blogothèque, for sharing this masterpiece.
Hugs from Brazil.
Goosebumps I tell you -
"A black rainbow in a dimly lit room in paris
Pervaded the chambers as the pair went on
Strumming and squeezing forth such sounds
from instruments with indefinite form
Elusive as it was the emotion of despair
was contained for a moment in eternity
as the two struggled for symphony.
thank you for sharing this. you have a gift.
Well done, lad, well done.
So pure,so raw, so Beautiful!!
Wow the whole video!!! Not just clips this is insane!
This is so marvelous ..., I never expected to run out of words thanking a beautiful musical moment.
Annie so amazing! More more MORE
andrew.. you are my favorite. keep it going bro
What heavens concerts should be
Holy crap!, this gem
Now I too am again that fly on the wall. Thank you
I realley love them!!
Andrew Bird rocks
St. Vincent rocks too
This video just revitalized me for the rest of the decade
That's a collab I wasn't expecting
An oldie, shot almost 10 years ago. St. Vincent has kind of taken a new direction since, hope she goes back to this sort of thing
this is nice but I hope she doesn't tbh
But times go by and people change. This is lovely, but to cling to anything kills it. It's beautiful in its time, and we can look at this any time we like. But asking the artist to be something she was 10 years ago is kind of cruel, if you think about it.
Saying it's cruel is a bit of an overstatement... there is nothing wrong with hope and it would be nice to hear her going back to this but with all her new experiences and evolutions. She would be just the same but brand new
OH MY, it started playing it in the background, then I switched over to see the band and I was SPEECHLESS to find that it's all by himself...WOOAH
this is my ultimate comfort video i love these two so much ughhhh this is the best video
Never fails to inspire and amaze me...the talent is sublime.
Just discovered Mr Bird, via The Handsome Family. What a Discovery! I love his musicality but also fear for him. I'm an old man (77) and have seen so many great artists die far too young. It's presumptuous but, all I can say, is maybe lighten up? Which isn't easy ever. Still working on it myself.
She is beautiful in every way, I love this!
Sir, I am sure you do not read these, but your passion for good music, or just music, makes me feel ok in the world. I have made instruments weep with my trying. I can paint. I love your videos. I simply have some colours on a brush. Best of luck to you. I wish that I could paint as well as you create.
Help, i cant stop watch this
She is an alien with an astounding propensity to pass as a human, albeit one of abnormally talented abilities.
Came here for Andrew, fell in love with Annie...
this will always be one of my favorite videos
A special magic occurs at 17minute 45 seconds ❤
Natural disasters was amazing
Pure magic, love this!
Captivating
Be confident at the expense of possibly making mistakes (of which you will make few).
i keep coming back. amazing.
This is a treasure. About time you posted this back up!
This is my favorite show from you guys but i had never even seen the whole thing before! Thank you for reupping this!
Very good to hear a musician show there vulnerability, Inspiring.
Music like this is good for the soul!
Amazing duo, beautiful energy .. wow I could see them together ahha
Gosh I love Andrew Bird
Cutest giggle ever! 18:47 or close after. I think everything about Annie is absolutely beautiful! She is like a drug that I have become utterly addicted to. I wish that she would do more blues though. She is amazing in all that she does but I enjoy her most doing stuff like this.
THIS CHANNEL IS MY EVERYTHING.
Than you so much! I was waiting for this compilation.

Rarely have I heard the violin speak with such eloquence
very beautiful.
anyone else hear the beeping at 28:50 and think a smoke detector was going off in your house?
So beautiful. Just unreal
My good musical tastes bring me here :D
Great performance
Spendid. Just splendid !
god she's beautiful. and they're wonderful.
When she mentions how Black Rainbows keeps going up, I thought she was referring to Benedetti's Puzzle in Tuning Theory.
Damn Andrew's guitar playing on this was noticeably sub his standard of instrumental excellence. Love it for that, because he remains a delight regardless.
Iconic session! Has it really been this long...?
this collab was amazing!! i never wouldve expected this lol
Great version of Tenuousness.
I fell in love
Outstanding!
this is magnificent
por favor Andrew, hacé silencio mientras Annie canta esta bellísima canción...
Exelente!
I am incredibly jealous of everyone in that room,
Andrew is empathetic. That is the story I watched.
Sorry I mean empathetic and humble.
