I always felt like Zeke was an example of healthy masculinity. He's rough and boyish but he isn't afraid to be affectionate towards the people he cares about and is in touch with his feelings. He's one of my favorites
I agree completely and he is my favorite non-Belcher character because of it. Outside of the Belcher family, I also really believe he is the most moral character in the show
Zeke also has a disrupted home life and children who inappropriately poop places are most often victims of some form of abuse. The mad pooper episode could give a much darker insight into zeke, his slightly over touchy relationship with JJ could be because he doesn't know healthy boundaries. I always thought he was romantically interested in Tina and his over support of JJ was nervousness around her an JJ is her object of affection.
@@graciedaydream Super interesting, never thought about that, but it makes total sense! The ways you can delve deeper into the characters are one of the reasons this show is one of my all time favorites
I also think the bunny ears, whether it's intentional or not, function as a way to remind us that, despite everything about Louise's character, she is still a little girl--just a child who likes wearing bunny ears just because.
She is an otaku, or a person who has a fascination with all japanese things, you can see all the things she loves. Like her Kuchi Kopi night light, the movie series she has watched a lot with Bob "Hawk and Chick", as well as the trading cards she tries to get back from the teacher. Also in lot of anime there is like what the guy said about that anime child with the animal hat.
@@cliffjasway562 I read that the bunny ears were partially inspired by the anime Tekkonkinkreet, so that’s a pretty spot on observation. Edit: I commented before the video brought it up, I didn’t mean to be redundant 🙃
Right?! There’s hope I promise. I could definitely be discribed the same way lol. I’m married now but life is definitely not like the movies or books but that’s okay. It can still be good ❤
Tina is weird af. The newest season 14 ep1 Tina has a fantasy of a buff good-looking horse. Wtf. Beastiality girl. She's Nast in all ways. I strongly dislike tuna breath i mean tina
One of my personal theories is that Tina is actually really smart and the only reason she struggles with math is because her glasses prescription is wildly outdated. In season 8 episode 7 (The Bleakening, Part 2) Bob mentions that they haven't bought Tina new glasses since she was six making her prescription 7 years out of date. By the time she does get new glasses she's already been transferred to the remedial class because she's so far behind. In season 11 episode 16 (Y Tu Tina Tambien) she goes from failing grades in Spanish to excelling in under a week by listening to old Spanish immersion tapes (in fact only about a quarter of them). It's clearly just a matter of interest and motivation.
It's also really common for autistic people to have dyscalculia, so it could just be that. I have it. I'm nearly 30 and I still use my fingers to count.
I imagine Tina always assumed she was right handed, until she found out people could be left handed; she tried her left hand and it worked much better.
It's also likely she's a lefty but in a lot of areas lefty's are still forced to learn to write with their right hand. I have an abnormal amount of lefty's in my family and every single one has been forced to write right handed.
I like to imagine that Tina started writing with her left hand because her right hand got tired when writing friend fiction and she didnt want to stop.
I've always seen Zeke as romantically interested in Tina while I feel his interest in Jimmy Jr. could go either way. It might be a crush or it might just be that Zeke isn't afraid to show how important his friendship with Jimmy Jr. is. One of the things I like about Zeke is his rejection of a lot of elements of toxic masculinity. He frequently talks honestly about his feelings and even cries. He also has insights into other people's emotions that are surprising. It doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility that his love for Jimmy Jr. is platonic but strong, and he isn't worried about showing that, not being paranoid that people are going to think he's gay. But, I could also be talked into thinking that he's bi.
Yeah, I kinda like how openly affectionate Jimmy and Zeke's friendship is, and think it's important to show teenage boys who are not afraid to love their friends.
I couldn't agree more. I definitely think that Zeke has a huge crush on Tina. For the last 6 years at least my wife and I have fallen asleep to Bob's Burgers on a constant loop and we both call the Belcher's our second family.
My theory for louise’s hat is that she wears it to make herself look taller. Kind of like when animals make themselves look bigger to intimidate predators and stuff. Its also funny cause a little girl wearing a bunny hat doesn’t sound or look too intimidating, it actually sounds very innocent and cute. This would also work to louise’s benefit when causing trouble. Idk im probably just reading into it too much.
With the release of the movie the bunny hat is even deeper. Bob’s mom always wore a pink hat and it was her “bravery hat” which bob admired. He gave her the pink bunny hat to 1. commemorate Louise on her bravery of going to school for the first time and 2. honor his mother. The bunny/pink hat is generational and is personal to bob, as much as it is to Louise who then learns her bravery is within herself. she continues to wear the hat in honor of her grandmother. (And because it would be ridiculous for the showrunners to just get rid of it)
3. bobs mothers started wearing the hat because she had cancer so she would wear that to cover her hair loss and eventually it stuck on. this also tells us that bobs mothers died from cancer
It's interesting that you didn't mention that Gene has a canonical eating disorder, but maybe because it's canonical it's more of a "fun fact" and not for this style of video. In one of the Thanksgiving episodes he's sick in the bathroom with food poisoning because he compulsively ate chicken parm that he knew was rotten and knew would make him sick, and then was ashamed about it afterwards. We do see him in several episodes eat things that aren't food or eat things that are clearly ... not okay to eat. He ate a tatertot off the floor of the boys bathroom, he ate some of the green mold off the wall, ate a banana slug to go with his granola, and some other instances of compulsive eating. A video about your perspective about Gene's relationship with food would be super interesting!
@@danlc95 Sometimes people say “Ugh, this tastes like poop!” Even though they’ve never eaten poop. So it makes me wonder if it was like an analogy or if he really ate it!
I never thought Zeke could be gay. Jimmy Jr. maybe but not Zeke. Zeke has always been honest about his actions and feelings, and I think he just really values his friendship with Jimmy. On the other hand theres Jimmy Jr. In the episode "yes without my Zeke" Jimmy was very concerned about not being able to see Zeke, cause only seeing him on the Zekends wouldn't be enough. And the episode with the 2 butted goat Jimmy was very jealous about Gene and Zeke bonding. Plus, I feel like Jimmy Jr. uses Tina almost as a beard, doesn't give her much attention unless he's close to losing her.
That makes sense, including the fact that Jimmy is always dancing! (Obviously not a sign of homosexuality, but it is a bit weird as he dances very provocatively! Lol!)
Also the Valentine's Day episode (with the introduction of Nat Kinkle, the greatest side character ever) showed Jimmy J being a jerk to a different girl. Maybe he has yet to figure out that he just doesn't like girls
I don't think of Tina as the "odd ball out" as much as this video suggests. Her socially awkward but do-gooder attitude is very similar to Bob, who's always doing the right thing despite also being socially awkward.
I feel like she's a good mix of her parents, she cares about rules and can be a voice of reason like bob but she's eccentric and sympathetic toward not only other people but inanimate objects too like Linda is
All three kids are a good mix of both parents. Gene and Louise are excitable like Linda, Tina has bob’s general nonplussed attitude most of the time plus the similar stress response, Louise and bob have similar responses to being wronged, gene and bob both have grand ideas for their passions, Tina and Linda are the romantics of their family. I also think Tina and Linda have a similar approach to their interests, they seem to have multiple things they love and get into those passions intensely but briefly (even though Tina’s interests don’t go away, her focus on which one is most exciting seems to swap). They also are the most supportive of others.
I think this is also the most interesting option because it lets us in on more vulnerability/insecurity for a character who otherwise likes to act tough and be taken seriously. same as her green machine (/tricycle)
A common "theory" that mother is dead? Well, less of a theory, was definitely in a show: Season 7, Episode 7, at 4:11, Mr. Fishoader asks Bob, "How good are you at building gingerbread houses?" Bob replies: "Well actually, not bad, my mother and I would build them before she died".
That's a fantastic episode and I love the guy in the creepy house singing adeste fidelis to Linda the kids and Teddy as all the gingerbread houses get shot up lol.
Just watched the bobs burgers movie and I can say that the way the writers described why she wears the hat is really cool and nice to see that they tied it to bobs parents and a way to remember them
I think the "the Belchers are dead" theory is just some people's need to make something more out of something than what's actually going on. I mean, Bob can seem a little crazy at times, but that theory really makes no sense. The entire town would have to be playing along with his delusions.
Bob and Jimmy are good, direct foils that work well against each other. Jimmy is the superior businessman, but Bob is the far superior cook. I thought the jealousy theories were pretty blatant, or not meant to be theories. Bob wishes his restaurant was more successful, Jimmy wishes he had a good relationship with his family. Jimmy also contradicts one of Bob's core beliefs, which is that good things happen to good people and you should operate under some morals system. Jimmy spits in the face of the way Bob lives his life by being more successful at Bob's dream. In Bob's mind, he's done what he "should" do, the "right" thing, yet a crook like Jimmy prospers. I think Bob resents that.
I always thought Jimmy was jealous of Bob's culinary skills. Its so blatant the guy was in tears after eating his own burger because he knew it wasn't as good as bobs.
I read a theory somewhere that Louise uses hearing aids, and wears the bunny ears hat over them. I’m not typically super into fan theories, but I kinda like this one. It also fits with the baby pictures where we already see Louise wearing a little pink hat over her ears.
Something funny to add to the iceberg is how the pilot episode has really cynical humor compared to the rest of the series. Loren Bouchard was apparently uncomfortable with a lot of the humor of the episode, one joke that sticks out to me is the autism joke, which modern Bob's Burgers would never do. Bouchard wanted to make the show more light-hearted in contrast to shows like Family Guy.
This is actually why I like the first 3 seasons so much, you’ll get wholesome family sitcom jokes and situations but then there’s just a quick little dark joke to contrast it, keeps things fresh
@@Crate70 I think as the series goes on it gets a lot more like a childrens show. Every new episode now had a moral, which is fine, but it's kind of boring imo and the episodes before were way different
As a huge fan of both Bob's Burgers and Home Movies, it's amazing how much Loren's sense of humor and characters are almost interchangeable between the two. They definitely share a very similar energy on some level.
The irony of Louise's hat, even if not intentionally regarding the simpsons, is that Marge had hair that hid her ears, and Louise had ears that hid her hair.
My theory on Tina's handedness is that she tried to write with her right to fit into the family, before gaining more confidence. I think it's a metaphor for her character arc. She's still awkward, but she's come out of her shell a bit .
What if Archer is just Bob daydreaming about being a super spy whilst bored at the restaurant? It could explain the shared voices between Bob/Archer, Gene/Cecil, Louise/Cecil's girlfriend, and Skip Marooch/Farooq.
I recently watched an entire video about this. Bob is definitely bi, but would never cheat on Linda because they truly love each other. It does add some fun to his character though!
idk, I feel like tina is like super smart, she’s just so overlooked by the other characters. like, in almost every episode, it’s tina who comes up with the plan to save everyone (usually accompanying a ‘tina, you’re a genius!’). has anyone else noticed this?
As someone who’s autistic, it makes me so happy that you showed the right picture of the autism spectrum and not the linear one ☺️ also, I’ve been binge watching Bob’s burgers and this video is great 😁
@@stephaniebaker6001 Hey, just so you know Aspergers isn’t used anymore because it has terrible history and is harmful like functioning labels! But I agree. Tina has a lot of autistic traits and I honestly thought she was a canon autistic character when I first started watching the show because of it!
Can't wait for the movie. Heard that Louise's hat will be a plot point, maybe we'll find out why she's so emotionally and physically attached to it. Hoping we can also see what she finally looks like without it.
*spoilers* in the movie, she said that her parents gave it to her on her first day because she was so brave. I'm not completely sure, but this is what I remember from watching it.
Spoilers!! She wears the hat because her parents gifted it to her after her first day of preschool, for being so brave. And it’s pink because bobs mom used to wear a tacky pink hat even in the summer, and Linda liked that and wanted to do the same for Louise
in the archer "bob's burger's" reference, the kids are not Archer's, they're Linda' from a previous marriage. Archer even mentions it. there's no 'have several kids and raise them". In the cameo he's only been with them for about 2 months
I dislike that aspect of the episode because it implies there was a real Bob Belcher who's likely dead or at best divorced. Bob and Linda's relationship is so endearing that I refuse to accept ANY universe where they aren't together.
@@Dalton_Boardman2000 I think it could be like I'm scrubs where Turk tried to daydream about being married to Elliot but ended up just daydreaming about his wife instead. Maybe Bob daydreams about being a spy but then tried to retcon his own family in the daydream without thinking too much about it. Bob would love a NY restaurant so it makes me think that instead.
The tina switching hands theory actually could have gone another route, being that a lot of left-handed people were forced to write and do things with their right hand, and it can actually lead to cordnation issues which would explaine why shes so clumsy
The Archer thing actually has some dark implications if you follow it to it's logical conclusion. In the episode, they say that Archer disappeared for two months during which time he met and married Linda, who already had the three kids. Although the whole thing was meant as a joke, if you take it as canon, it basically implies that Archer (at least from season 4 onward) is a sequel to Bob's Burgers in which Bob is no longer in the picture. Bob and Linda _really_ don't seem like the type of couple to get a divorce and Linda was still so attached to Bob that she tried to turn Archer into him, so the most likely scenario is that Bob is dead. Also, the kids who usually can't shut up don't say a word during the entire scene. In reality, this was probably due to difficulties with getting the voice actors, but in universe, this could imply that they've been traumatized by something like the death of a father. The scene was definitely just intended as a joke, but if taken as canon, it creates really dark implications for the future of the Belcher family.
I have Bob's exact tattoo of the nose and mustache in the same spot as he does. That being said there are very few continuity errors throughout the entire series. The first two I think of off the top of my head are how they alluded to Bob's dad being dead and his old restaurant being sold when Bob got his box of (horrible) toys mailed to him from the people who bought it. Second, when Gail started dating Mr. Frond (S6 Ep4 -Gail Making Bob Sled), everyone seems to know about it until two episodes later when the kids find out that Mr Frond might end up being their new uncle in law (S6 Ep:6 - The Cook, The Steve, The Gail & Her lover). Other than that the show has been pretty tight with keeping everything continuous.
The discontinuity with his dad has always bothered me about Bob's burgers. He doesnt seem that far away, much closer than Linda's parents, and he NEVER gets talked about. The whole setup seems heavy handed and not well thought out. I truly believe they planned on him being dead but then decided to add him in for a christmas episode.
i think the gayle and frond thing was an airing issue. they were supposed to be in order but they couldn't switch the airing slots because one of them was a thanksgiving episode
The Bob's Burger Archer crossover is a reference to the movie "A History of Violence." If you search up the diner scene you can see even the fight choreography has similarities to it.
Dunno what this other guy is talking about… but I agree 100%!!! I knew that fight scene looked familiar!!! Nice catch! … and not for nothing, but yeah, REALLY, because the sheer volume of reference and structure to other movies or books through the ENTIRE series… like the crawl space being an ode to the Shining. Yeah, Really. I mean, shit… “Bob Day Afternoon” literally even used the original movies name!!!
As an autistic Person I've always viewed both gene and Tina to b on the spectrum and find them to b positive representation to a very large and diverse community
Yeah I say I relate to gene a lot especially with the lazar episode when he got scared because of how loud the music was, the same thing happened to me at the lightning show in a museum I’m also the same age as Tina though (13)
I'm on the spectrum and don't really see Gene being autistic. Totally relate to Tina. I'd think Gene would be more along the lines of ADHD and TS, as he definitely has some impulse control issues...
Tina's personality is more like Bob's, they're both the sound of reason but always get carried away with the things they're obsessed with. Gene is the exact copy of Linda, Louise is similar to Linda but she feels like she relates to her father the most. I do think the hat is supposed to be therapeutic for her, she always interacts with it during stress and snapped when her hat was taken from her.
Another instance where Tina takes something literally is in the s4 episode with the seaplane where they are all in the plane Linda says for the kids to swim to shore as a joke and Tina actually jumps out the plane to swim to shore so the writers are definitely aware of this theory
My theory is Ginger isn't real. Each family member talks to someone or something that isn't there. Bob and objects. Gene and Ken. We never see her. Or hear her. It's always on the phone. We see the back of her head during a flashback, and that's it. We see how supportive Linda is when Bob talks to turkey's. Same thing can happen for Linda talking to Ginger. I was skeptical of her existence during the sleepover episode. It seemed Linda was using Ginger as a way to push Louise to having a sleepover. Linda wanted her to have a sleepover. Not for her daughter sake, but for Linda's sake. I'd put money down that she's not real.
Actually, we see Ginger’s face in the scene where we see bob and linda meet for the first time, also I believe when they go to see the pirates of panache musical theatre.
@@maggieshuttlesworth8329 Both scenes are flashbacks from Linda's perspective. . Linda could probably see her, because she's real to her. Just like how Gene drew a picture of Ken. It's really to both of them. Don't mean anyone else can. Until we see her In present time with a speaking role and have other characters acknowledge her. I still call shenanigans
What about the episode when she pops in the restaurant after loosing weight and everyone comments on her weight-loss? Or the one where they go visit her when she’s working at the doll place, doing the dolls hair? Curious to hear your theory! Edit: aaaaand I just realized my mistake. GINGER not GRETCHEN. Okay ignore everything I just said. No wonder I was so confused by your comment! Now off to evaluate your theory about “Gingah”!
They confirmed Ginger's existence in a recent episode, Gretchen and gale were both there at the time and Gretchen even offers a fencing match to Ginger, something she probably wouldn't do to a hallucination
With the “Linda is an alcoholic” theory, I feel like Linda is a parallel to Beth from Rick and Morty. Beth is always drinking without anyone calling her out but it’s very prevalent that she drinks a lot of wine in the series. Linda gets called out, even calls herself out at times, for drinking wine and it’s not very prevelant. They’re both going the same way but the way it’s shown is different in their respective shows.
I honestly don’t think Zeke is gay, he’s just comfortable with being affectionate and loving of Jimmy Jr. He also mentioned that he had a crush on Tina a couple times, so at the very least straight or bi. But you know, sexuality doesn’t matter or anything.
The thing that caught my attention about Tina was the way she slept. That's also an oddly specific trait because yes, some of us have trouble sleeping or sleep in "unconventional" ways but also that's a form of stimming.
Jimmy Jr's near obsessive jealousy of not only of Tina but his friend's as well is really not talked about enough. Its clearly due to having Jimmy snr as a father. He loses it the moment he thinks Zeke might be an hour away or is hanging out with someone else even if Zeke is still with him. He's a people pleaser and goes along with everything else, it makes sense that he freaks out at the idea of being alone
When Tammie is introduced she does have a crush on Zeke, and yes he does reciprocate her feelings. He attemps to impress her buy hawking a loogie into the air and catching it in his mouth. To wich Tammie is clearly disgusted yet still intrigued. I figured he took her look of disgust as striking out so he gave up unaware she was still into him.
You know, about that fact about Bob's mother, we have now seen what she looks like thanks to the movie and the hat she wore is what inspired Louise's hat. Pretty big reveal, to be honest!
I believe that's stated to be a meeting of her night terrors/recurring nightmares from when Bob showed her a zombie movie too young and her hormone filled pubescent mind exploring her newfound sexuality.
-Everyone is dead -The world is imaginary and/or the protagonist(s) are comatose Why are these so common? The only time it was used unironically well in a cartoon was Garden Wall. It's such a stock scenario it's lost all meaning.
Honestly my favorite part of this whole video is that instead of using a screenshot from the actual production of Sweeney Todd, you use the episode of The Office where Andy is in Sweeney Todd
Ye its kind of sad cus throughout the show we see that Gale actually has a pretty big imagination, she's also the only one who was able to get Louise to go to the dentist (due to her creativity) if Gale had a better support system she could have become incredibly successful
Watching this now after the release of the film is so interesting! A lot of things in here, specifically why Louise wearers her hat and a bit of info about Bobs mother, are addressed in the film which was so heartwarming
season 13 discussed bobs mom, even went to to the grave. Also, how louise was like bobs mom even discussing the origins of her hat. I cant remember what episode it was or maybe it was in the movie.
I think Jimmie is gay and is secretly in love with Bob. I always thought Jimmie was sleeping with the guy that works with him. He does go to the motel to take "naps"
Well, transpeople and cross dressers aren't all gay, so that's a 50/50 at best. He was also into adult baby stuff, and that's not enough to confirm he's gay. My thought is, Jimmy's a shitty dad because HIS dad was shitty to him. And I think he's both jealous of Bob as a good father, and he also wants Bob's approval because Jimmy sees him as a good dad.
@@kittyprydex I don't know where "Trans" came into the conversation. Jimmie is neither Trans nor a Crossdresser. He is in to baby play, but that also has nothing to do with my theory of him being secretly in love with Bob.
@@aduckofsomesort They see Jimmie at the Desire Dungeon, but they never said that he was/is a client of theirs. That episode shows that Jimmie is in to baby play but nothing else. As far as the 3 cross dressers in that episode it is moot to my opinion that Jimmie is gay.
In the bobs burgers movie that just came out we find out that she wears the hat because it’s special and the memory of when she got the hat was special because her mom made it and her parents gave her after her first day of preschool
Louises also loves anime/creatures/ yokai her ears could be a reflection of her personality of liking those types of things. Also I think in an episode the hat is actually dear to her and was a gift from her parents when she was little.
As an autistic person myself, I think there's a really good chance that Tina is on the spectrum. Here are some symptoms that I've observed: 1. Intense niche interests (I know lots of girls like horses, but Tina's love for them seems especially intense.) 2. Monotone voice (a lot of autistic people, me included, struggle with regulating their voice.) 3. Clumsiness 4. Has trouble regulating emotions/Get's easily overwhelmed (AHHHHHHHHHH) 5. Social awkwardness (she has few friends besides her siblings and can act inappropriately at times, especially when Jimmy Junior is involved.) 6. Struggles in school (school can be HARD when you're neurodivergent. Staying organized, remembering assignments, being on time, working in groups....it can be a lot. Some autistic kids need accommodations in order to do well. I, for one, had an IEP from elementary school through high school. Since Tina is undiagnosed and therefore wouldn't get accommodations, it makes sense that school would be harder for her.) Just some things I noticed!
I think that Louise’s hat is kind of like a shield to the outside world. It’s a part of her identity, because it protects her from growing up. As little kids, hats such as hers would be “cute” and normal, but once you get older, it would get weirder. I think Louise is holding on to her childhood and her protective barrier against the things she’s too scared to face, and we see that in Easy Rider. Louise can’t function without her ears, and the inner psychopath in her breaks free. Without her shield and protection, she’s just another scared little girl and not the threat she makes herself out to be. With the bunny ears, she can hold onto her childhood and find comfort in the fact that she is the boss and has control by manipulating childish expectations. Another theory I’ve heard is that Louise wears the hat to cover up the similarity between her and Linda because she doesn’t want people to know how alike they actually are. Maybe Louise just wears it because it may be some sort of Japanese folklore, such as Kuchi Kopi, but I think it’s her protection against the real world.
My Dad thinks that Louise wears her hat because it distinguishes her from Linda. As we all know, Bob and Louise are a lot closer than Louise and Linda are. Without her hat, Louise looks exactly like Linda (if Linda didn't have glasses), and to her, that's not a good thing. So she wears her hat so could look as dissimilar to her mom as possible. I have to say, I agree with his theory and I'm happy that this video covered it lol
I don't think the ventriloquism mom theory is the most obvious reason for bob talking to food. Bob worked at the diner all through his childhood and had no friends or siblings, so resorted to talking to the objects around him because he was lonely
@@TDIdialgagirl yeah maybe the sixth sense? I know alot of people say everyone in LOST was dead the entire time but I don't know about that one either. 😫
@@MylingCyrus Totally wrong about LOST! People bash the ending on the grounds that it's dumb that everyone was dead the whole time, but they weren't. Everything that happened on the island, including when they went back in time, and everything that happened to the Oceanic 6 when they got off the island actually happened. Every character death happened as we saw it. And then the characters who didn't die during the show died separately, at different times, after the events of the show. The flash-sideways, which is the timeline where everyone is off the island and alive but don't remember each other until Desmond helps jog their memories, is the only part of the show that takes place in the afterlife. That's really happening many years after the main events of the show, after all the main characters have died (including the ones who escaped from the Man in Black at the end- they really did survive and get off the island and they lived out the rest of their lives, then eventually all died). Christian Shepherd explains that to Jack and explicitly tells him that everything that happened was real. The reason why they all join up in the afterlife is because they were all such an important part of each other's lives that they couldn't move on to the afterlife until everybody was there with them. They looked the same way in the afterlife as they did on the island because that's how they knew each other. (Plus it's more impactful for the audience if we can actually recognize everyone, lol) The writers of LOST were actually pissed at the network because, without their permission, it aired confusing footage after the finale that implied they were dead the whole time.
The belcher family seems like a 3rd generation Italian family. Once I was high and came up with a theory that everyone is jealous of bob because they know how successful he can be when given the right opportunity but they’re all against him. There’s so many instances where he would’ve been rich but chose his morals and comfort
As a weird person, Bob's Burgers and Futurama have always been my favorite go-to feel good shows. The Belchers are a perfect imperfect family and the crew are the perfect chosen family I've always wished I had. (I also kind of read Zeke as not completely being able to tell the difference between the intense feelings that come with close platonic friendships and romantic interests. And dude, same.)
I caught on to Tina's left handedness because I'm also a south paw, so I'm always noticing it in others; including tv shows, even though this is animated. Check out the left handed characters on "The Simpsons" as well! 😁
in my opinion Louise I just really attached to her comfort object, I had a hoodie at that age and kiddos are more literal thinking than adults are. There is probably no real seriousness attached to it, just Louise just needs a bit of comfort and uses her ears for it.
Honestly, the Tina being autistic theory makes me laugh, because it kind of implies that the rest of the Belcher’s are nuerotypical, when pretty much all the Belcher’s read as autistic, adhd or a combination of the two. Bob and Louise are probably the most “normal”, but Linda, Tina and Gene all strike me as having autistic or ADHD traits.
Louise struggles with being the youngest child and despises being called a “baby”. In the film, she mentions how Bob and Linda gave her the hat so she'd feel brave enough to make it through her first day of preschool.
Great video!!! I am obsessed with Bob’s Burgers so I know or have thought about most of this, except the last bit. Now, I do want to rant a bit about how much I hate the “everyone’s dead from horrible tragedies and the show is the main character’s psychotic break” theories. It’s usually cartoons because their inherent separation from reality allows people to read this kind of nonsense into them. First of all, there’s so many gaps that it doesn’t make sense. It requires leaps of imagination that basically just completely rewrite the show (for instance: Teddy and Mort are “actually” saying and doing different things than we see and hear them do because we are observing Bob’s alternate reality AND all the perspectives into the other family members’ minds are just Bob imagining what they would be thinking...like... what??? What would be the point of that, unless it was overtly part of the plot?). Also, what kind of mind fuck cartoon show creator would decide to create a bunch of fully developed characters and situations while secretly knowing they’re all dead and the main character is insane? Wtf? I think it’s just a way for disturbed creative bored people to try to mess with other people’s heads. It worked on me with Rugrats as a teenager and that’s probably why it annoys me so much (that one is really f’ed). 😅 The concept itself is good storytelling and there are lots of great pieces of media that explore it (like one particular excellent horror movie- no spoilers). That doesn’t mean it exists wherever you even have the tiniest inkling it may. The whole point of Bob’s Burgers is that the family survives and thrives under repetitively disastrous and ridiculous circumstances. That’s what the intro is about.
Out of every iceberg video on Bob's Burgers, this is the only one that go the bob tattoo thing right. lol thanks for actually watching the show and not pretending, like the other popular channels do.
16:53 Someone correct me if I wrong, but I think those were actually his *step kids,* not his actual kids. Im pretty sure he said something along the lines of: "I love being a step father to Gene and Louise and.....you." (gestures to Tina)
My favourite theory is that gene has adhd, which i think is really possible and a cool representantation as there is more depth to him than just "oh look a squirrel". Also i once heard that louise might have hearing aids that she is insecure about and therefore covers them with another pair of ears. But the only real actual cue that'd lead to that is that she sometimes talks really loud, which could also be her personality. Then again, it's possible that creators had this in mind since there is a new episode with a character with hearing aids, so that's a thing they consider. Also to the zeke theory I'd like to add that it'd make sense he's bisexual, if you'd want to interpet his friendship with jimmy jr as having a crush. But i personally believe that they just want to show how important best-friend-constructs are to middle schoolers, especially if they're a bit insecure on their own, which zeke might be since his family life is troubled and there is a lot more self awareness to him than to the typical trouble maker displayed in the media.
Zeke also struggles with impulse control which is a major part of ADHD. There are other explanations, but it's possible. But as someone with ADHD I do see Gene exhibit a lot of familiar behaviors and struggles.
@@andrewtyrell4795 i agree zeke could be neurodiverse too! Overall i think they portray him in such a great way, they don't only show the poor impulse control but also how he reflects on why he has it or how it sometimes feels impossible to handle, which is really cool. Also i have adhd as well, hi fellow adhd-er! 😊
i think theyre all autistic. im diagnosed with ASD and they are all very stereotypically autistic and each of them focuses on a different side of ASD. for example Linda is the stereotypical grown woman undiagnosed and also stereotypically loud. Bob speaks very menatonely, gets easily attached to stuff (in his case his burgers and old toys). he also has a special interest on burgers. Tina is an extreme stereotype who struggles socially and has a hyperfixation on zombies and horses and also gets attached to stuff as well also monotoned voice and basically all you said. Gene is again a stereotype of the "gross" autistic kid or more correctly not understanding social ques and not understanding what hes doing "wrong". Louise is again another stereotype. she has a comfort item (her hat) and gets horribly uncomfortable when anything doesnt go her way and feelings tend to confuse her. i personally share a lot of symptoms with all of them. all i mentioned are symptoms i have as well so if you saw more symptoms i would love to hear them:)
I think you should do more of these. I like your perspective and interpretation on the theories revolving around the series. You should do more. Cheers!
Matt Groening has said that the bunny ears are a reference to his early comic work. He had a character that had a face a lot like marge in " Life in hell"
Zeke isn’t gay. Zeke is almost a Teddy like character that he so happy to be a part of someone he respects life. Wrestling Jimmy is his way of calming down any jealousy feelings he feels towards Jimmy. Instead of being mean to Jimmy or potentially ruining his friendship, he knows Jimmy is awful at wrestling so taking him down helps not feel it anymore. Also guys like him would never believe a popular girl would like him so he has no idea when he’s being flirted with. At his age, they have no idea what to do unless he daydreamed for it. He likes Tina because he sees his best friend not treat her well, and hopes she will see Zeke for the great guy he is instead because he feels bad for her.
The were rumors that the show would eventually, and casually reveal that Tina is Trans. The show was just going to acknowledge it, normalize , and move on. However, if it was gonna happen I would think they'd have done it already.
Not seeing how bob can afford his bills on 5 customers a day so maybe $50 a day his rent for both restaurant and apartment upstairs has to be at least $3000 a month? food is $500 electric and gas $200 we'll call it, business owner insurance $200. $100 other supplies napkins and paper cups etc that's $4000 a month.
On the Tina is autistic subject, I’m someone who figured out that I’m autistic only a few years ago, and when I was Tina’s age, I too was obsessed with horses, vampires (a la her zombie obsession), and not so much the butts cuz I’m ace too, but I was obsessed with romances for sure . I relate to Tina SO much even as a grown woman now . She’s super on the spectrum (imo)

ZEKE IS MY FAVORITE. He's a bow legged king👑
Come on Jay Jew
I also think the bunny ears, whether it's intentional or not, function as a way to remind us that, despite everything about Louise's character, she is still a little girl--just a child who likes wearing bunny ears just because.
Exactly! She acts so much older than she really is (and knows a lot of adult things for someone her age).
@@cliffjasway562 also she names that one hamster shinobu, wich is a Japanese name
Yes it’s a reference to her young age lol. I don’t think she’s old enough to be insecure about looking like Linda
That description of Tina killed me. "A hopeless romantic with a powerful sex drive and minimal social skills."

It's clearly just a matter of interest and motivation.
woah, you just blew my mind
Isn't that what it always is with kids, a matter of interest and motivation(just like Bart(The Simpsons)).
It's also really common for autistic people to have dyscalculia, so it could just be that. I have it. I'm nearly 30 and I still use my fingers to count.
Doesn't Tina get new glasses s10e2? Louise makes her think its a superpower.
@@camrider42 Yes she does, but by that point she's spent the majority of her educational life struggling with the subject so she's still behind.
I imagine Tina always assumed she was right handed, until she found out people could be left handed; she tried her left hand and it worked much better.
i love this theory! maybe she started keeping such a detailed and up to date diary cuz she thought she was bad at writing and needed practice 😭
It's also likely she's a lefty but in a lot of areas lefty's are still forced to learn to write with their right hand. I have an abnormal amount of lefty's in my family and every single one has been forced to write right handed.
suppressed autism at its finest [at least from my family's experience]
I like to imagine that Tina started writing with her left hand because her right hand got tired when writing friend fiction and she didnt want to stop.
I love that
I've always seen Zeke as romantically interested in Tina while I feel his interest in Jimmy Jr. could go either way.
@@sandydog426 100% this. I think that Bob's Burgers is probably the most inclusive and wholesome show on TV for the last decade. ❤️
Zeke act kind of the same way when he's match on team with Gene or regular size Rudy. Always too friendly and in need of wrestling or hugging lol
Yeah because it’s impossible for two men to be friends
My theory for louise’s hat is that she wears it to make herself look taller. Kind of like when animals make themselves look bigger to intimidate predators and stuff. Its also funny cause a little girl wearing a bunny hat doesn’t sound or look too intimidating, it actually sounds very innocent and cute. This would also work to louise’s benefit when causing trouble. Idk im probably just reading into it too much.
I subscribe to this theory bc you can clearly see the ears make her taller than both Gene and Tina. She's just making her outside match her inside
I’m pretty sure in one episode an adult says to Louise “aww little bunny ears!” And she says something intimidating back
There’s a theory that Louis is deaf and wear the bunny ears to hide her hearing aids
She has a scalp infection
She does not want too look like Linda boom
My heart broke for Gene in that episode. I think Bob even mentioned being a lot like Gene when he was younger, so it made me wonder.
When Gene said that oysters tasted like post nasal drip.... Gross!
@@danlc95 Sometimes people say “Ugh, this tastes like poop!” Even though they’ve never eaten poop. So it makes me wonder if it was like an analogy or if he really ate it!
He once at a penny and hoped nobody saw
@@maxc3058 What Season and Episode was that? XD
Yeah, I agree with you and when you think about Jimmy Jr.’s dad he would not be happy/supportive about it to.
That makes sense, including the fact that Jimmy is always dancing! (Obviously not a sign of homosexuality, but it is a bit weird as he dances very provocatively! Lol!)
My jaw dropped, this makes so much sense
Also the Valentine's Day episode (with the introduction of Nat Kinkle, the greatest side character ever) showed Jimmy J being a jerk to a different girl. Maybe he has yet to figure out that he just doesn't like girls

I don't think of Tina as the "odd ball out" as much as this video suggests. Her socially awkward but do-gooder attitude is very similar to Bob, who's always doing the right thing despite also being socially awkward.
I feel like she's a good mix of her parents, she cares about rules and can be a voice of reason like bob but she's eccentric and sympathetic toward not only other people but inanimate objects too like Linda is
Bob even has his own moans sometimes lmfao!!! I agree!
"Uuuuugggghhh" when they are stuck in an awkward social situation & start stressing LOL
I think the thing with Louise's hat is just that it's a comfort object, like Linus with his blankie
That’s definitely possible!
I think this is also the most interesting option because it lets us in on more vulnerability/insecurity for a character who otherwise likes to act tough and be taken seriously. same as her green machine (/tricycle)
Agree; when her hat was stolen she began acting like a junkie going through withdrawal, just like Linus when separated from his blanket.
Definitely, it's really not as complicated as the op described it lol
Though I can't imagine Louise without her signature hat, she did give up her Green Machine for an actual bicycle so there's still hope.😋
Nice catch! 😉 I have to rewatch that episode!! 😁
i was thinking the same thing! he kept talking about how it’s “unknown” of what happened to his mom, yet it’s been said before

That's a fantastic episode and I love the guy in the creepy house singing adeste fidelis to Linda the kids and Teddy as all the gingerbread houses get shot up lol.
Came here to say this. Also Zeke has a mad crush on Tina. Linda def isn’t an alcoholic and you left out Tina’s obsession with zombies.
So glad you also remembered and with more details than I did. I was starting to think I hallucinated that scene
I repeated this before scrolling and seeing yours. Good on ya, eagle eyed heroine! (Like… a jazz concert?)
I don’t think Linda is an alcoholic. She seem to have enough control to not qualify. I think she just likes to get crazy
She sucked wine out of a dishrag. She may be highly functioning but she absolutely has problematic drinking tendencies.
she’s a functioning alcoholic like jeff winger
Just watched the bobs burgers movie and I can say that the way the writers described why she wears the hat is really cool and nice to see that they tied it to bobs parents and a way to remember them
I think the "the Belchers are dead" theory is just some people's need to make something more out of something than what's actually going on. I mean, Bob can seem a little crazy at times, but that theory really makes no sense. The entire town would have to be playing along with his delusions.
"They've been dead all along" is the go-to try-hard edgy theory for every show.
Yeah, that would make Bob certifiable! 😅
Their all dead in apocalyptic town!!!!
*There’s ALWAYS a “they’re dead” theory. It’s honestly rather obnoxious and lame at this point*
@@andrewtyrell4795 indeed, i was just about to comment that xd
Yeah, it's hardly a theory so much that they're jealous of each other.
I read that theory too.
that would be a really cute way to explain why she always calls them "my ears" bc they are in some way connected to her actual hearing
Awa thats wholesome
And that when her hat got stolen, she wore a hoodie.
Omg maybe she has a cranial scar. That would explain why parents cover up her head as an infant
Has someone in the autistic spectrum I think that joke is one of the best jokes in the entire show lol

My theory on Tina's handedness is that she tried to write with her right to fit into the family, before gaining more confidence. I think it's a metaphor for her character arc. She's still awkward, but she's come out of her shell a bit .
Awe I love that
What if Archer is just Bob daydreaming about being a super spy whilst bored at the restaurant? It could explain the shared voices between Bob/Archer, Gene/Cecil, Louise/Cecil's girlfriend, and Skip Marooch/Farooq.

She wears the hat because her parents gifted it to her after her first day of preschool, for being so brave. And it’s pink because bobs mom used to wear a tacky pink hat even in the summer, and Linda liked that and wanted to do the same for Louise
Louise just has the same hair as Linda and it drives her mad.
For real
in the archer "bob's burger's" reference, the kids are not Archer's, they're Linda' from a previous marriage.
🤯 Yes! This is my new head canon!
Oh, this is interesting!
Dating mr frond ≠ getting married to me frond
The discontinuity with his dad has always bothered me about Bob's burgers. He doesnt seem that far away, much closer than Linda's parents, and he NEVER gets talked about. The whole setup seems heavy handed and not well thought out. I truly believe they planned on him being dead but then decided to add him in for a christmas episode.
i think the gayle and frond thing was an airing issue. they were supposed to be in order but they couldn't switch the airing slots because one of them was a thanksgiving episode
@@nessiev2373 I think so too. That makes a ton of sense
The Bob's Burger Archer crossover is a reference to the movie "A History of Violence." If you search up the diner scene you can see even the fight choreography has similarities to it.
Not really. It's because the person who voices Bob voices archer
As an ADHDer I’ve always seen gene as ADHD !

I think Both Tina and Gene are fantastic examples of Autistic representation.
I'm on the spectrum and don't really see Gene being autistic. Totally relate to Tina. I'd think Gene would be more along the lines of ADHD and TS, as he definitely has some impulse control issues...
Tina’s personality is a mix between Bob and Linda’s sister.
Tinas a good mix of both I think, voice of reason like bob and eccentric and loves love like linda
Another instance where Tina takes something literally is in the s4 episode with the seaplane where they are all in the plane Linda says for the kids to swim to shore as a joke and Tina actually jumps out the plane to swim to shore so the writers are definitely aware of this theory
I'm not in any way autistic but I'd probably do that
My theory is Ginger isn't real.

Essentially if he was a Greek Philosopher, he'd be Plato. Given how much he loves wrestling
I figured he gave up after experiencing Tammies personality.
@@wimvaughdan7032 Also a good theory. Zeke like to rough house a bit but as we have seen he is a nice sweet guy.
The movie definitely “cleared” some stuff up. Loved it!
You know, about that fact about Bob's mother, we have now seen what she looks like thanks to the movie and the hat she wore is what inspired Louise's hat. Pretty big reveal, to be honest!
Don't forget Tina's love and obsession with zombie's...
I believe that's stated to be a meeting of her night terrors/recurring nightmares from when Bob showed her a zombie movie too young and her hormone filled pubescent mind exploring her newfound sexuality.
nothing to do with cannibalism, look away look away
Yes!!! Now THAT'S not quite normal, but it is quite prominent in her daydreams!
I'm pretty sure that Zeke is a genius who acts out either for attention or out of boredom.
The "everyone is dead" theory is so wack
That's in almost every cartoon theory/conspiracy
That theory is literally like writing “I woke up and it was all a dream…” at the end of a book 😭😭
No fandom is complete without an "everybody is dead" theory... unfortunately. Such weak shit, man.
-Everyone is dead
-The world is imaginary and/or the protagonist(s) are comatose
Why are these so common? The only time it was used unironically well in a cartoon was Garden Wall. It's such a stock scenario it's lost all meaning.
That or it's a drug trip
Zeke is supposed to be like Bob. He has a perfect flavor palette, and he's pansexual. Its the daughters date guys like their dad.
Honestly my favorite part of this whole video is that instead of using a screenshot from the actual production of Sweeney Todd, you use the episode of The Office where Andy is in Sweeney Todd
Lol I loved that, too!
Tina takes after Gale,, if not for her supportive parents she could become more like Gale
Bob's mother is never mentioned because she's actually Mallory Archer and it's a security issue
Bob and Stirling are brothers!
lol
Well the Gingerbread house episode did mention that Bob and his mom used to do it together.
season 13 discussed bobs mom, even went to to the grave.
And in the episode where bob is a part time taxi driver, the trans passengers say they see Jimmy a lot.
When archer thought he was bob he says that its tough job being a step dad to gene, tina and Louise
speaking of bob's mother, one of the later episodes in season 13 (or 12) is the family going to the graveyard to see bobs mom's grave
I can't get over you pronouncing Louise's name like Luis Guzman's name.
I scrolled looking to see if anyone else noticed it 😂. Drove me nuts lol
Omg this was driving me crazy! Why is he saying “Luis” 😂
In the Archer crossover episode it was actually explained that it was a chore to be " step-dad" to Gene,Louise and he forgot Tina's name.
i love that louise's hat is actually a reference to bob's mother, and that louise reminds bob so much of her. i love their relationship so much :(
As an autistic person myself, I think there's a really good chance that Tina is on the spectrum. Here are some symptoms that I've observed:
1. Intense niche interests (I know lots of girls like horses, but Tina's love for them seems especially intense.)
2. Monotone voice (a lot of autistic people, me included, struggle with regulating their voice.)
3. Clumsiness
4. Has trouble regulating emotions/Get's easily overwhelmed (AHHHHHHHHHH)
5. Social awkwardness (she has few friends besides her siblings and can act inappropriately at times, especially when Jimmy Junior is involved.)
6. Struggles in school (school can be HARD when you're neurodivergent. Staying organized, remembering assignments, being on time, working in groups....it can be a lot. Some autistic kids need accommodations in order to do well. I, for one, had an IEP from elementary school through high school. Since Tina is undiagnosed and therefore wouldn't get accommodations, it makes sense that school would be harder for her.)
Just some things I noticed!
Is this why Linda always tells the kids to 'stay out of my room!'
Louise's bunny hat is exactly the same as the one worn by character 'bunny boy' in the 90s film Gummo.
I don't think the ventriloquism mom theory is the most obvious reason for bob talking to food. Bob worked at the diner all through his childhood and had no friends or siblings, so resorted to talking to the objects around him because he was lonely
They're all dead theories are sooooo stupid 😵
I want to find a show/book/movie where that isn't a theory
(Plus it's more impactful for the audience if we can actually recognize everyone, lol)
The writers of LOST were actually pissed at the network because, without their permission, it aired confusing footage after the finale that implied they were dead the whole time.
The belcher family seems like a 3rd generation Italian family.
Once I was high and came up with a theory that everyone is jealous of bob because they know how successful he can be when given the right opportunity but they’re all against him. There’s so many instances where he would’ve been rich but chose his morals and comfort
I just wanna say that I was possibly right. Linda is probably like 4th or 5th generation
Zeke literally told tina he was going to marry her. 😂 it was so funny and sweet
You released this litterally whilst I'm binge watching the series.
Same.
I'm recently diagnosed on the spectrum and I wanna say you nailed the explaining and the not one size fits all so good thank you
the last one killed me, i don’t believe it BUT i do believe teddy would do something like that for bob
Bob is Archer's long lost brother who was given up for adoption. Because, even at birth, Mallory knew he didn't have the makings of a Varsity athlete.
Regarding Zeke, it's weird how often people forget that bisexuality exists.
Agreed! Zeke will always be a bi icon to me
16:53 Someone correct me if I wrong, but I think those were actually his *step kids,* not his actual kids. Im pretty sure he said something along the lines of:
"I love being a step father to Gene and Louise and.....you." (gestures to Tina)
@@marias1609 Hello!
i think theyre all autistic. im diagnosed with ASD and they are all very stereotypically autistic and each of them focuses on a different side of ASD. for example Linda is the stereotypical grown woman undiagnosed and also stereotypically loud. Louise is again another stereotype. she has a comfort item (her hat) and gets horribly uncomfortable when anything doesnt go her way and feelings tend to confuse her. i personally share a lot of symptoms with all of them. all i mentioned are symptoms i have as well so if you saw more symptoms i would love to hear them:)
louise’s hat is actually a symbol for bobs mom!!
Here's an even wilder theory: Louise's bunny ears hat is connected to the animal hat-wearing humans in Adventure Time
You missed the theory that when archer becomes bob, the real bob died. In the archer episode, archer is only the step dad
Yeh especially in the pilot. But how if tina in most flashbacks is a baby girl
Doesn't She have Her period?
Not seeing how bob can afford his bills on 5 customers a day so maybe $50 a day his rent for both restaurant and apartment upstairs has to be at least $3000 a month? food is $500 electric and gas $200 we'll call it, business owner insurance $200. $100 other supplies napkins and paper cups etc that's $4000 a month.
Watch the vid that Bill did on the Belcher's income
@@DuckBilledAtheist Yup he must be selling Meth lol?
On the Tina is autistic subject, I’m someone who figured out that I’m autistic only a few years ago, and when I was Tina’s age, I too was obsessed with horses, vampires (a la her zombie obsession), and not so much the butts cuz I’m ace too, but I was obsessed with romances for sure . I relate to Tina SO much even as a grown woman now . She’s super on the spectrum (imo)
It's cool to see how much we've learned since then (like about Louise's ears and Bob's mom)
