handyMandy Wouldn't you if you figured out your best friend/brother from another mother was in actuality your worst enemy who murdered "as far as you're concerned" the love of your life.
@@drasconboy6349 He didn't murder them but he "supported" it. Japanese where being killed and he didn't do anything about it, while he had the power to stop them. That's one of the reasons alot of people don't like him. He's like the kid who wants to get a 100% on an exam without wanting to study or listen in class. And than he bashes on Zero for getting results the wrong when truly it's the only way. He also handed Lelouch over to easily the one of the worst people in code geass, while knowing who Charles was. I'm not surprised people called him a traitor, he supported the mass murder of tons of Japanese while being a Japanese.
3 years late, but yeah. Suzaku is someone VERY stuck in the past, but then so is Lelouch, who can't let go of his revenge. It's so tragic in that Suzaku did try to understand Lelouch despite knowing Geass and how he used it on Euphy and killed her. But Lelouch was IMO envious of Euphy and some resentment came back after, you know, the massacre. Plus the feeling of betrayal all these time that Suzaku was by her side, not his. So it's like, Lelouch was sick of it. If he had been more remorseful, Suzaku would have helped him without hesitation. But instead, Lelouch lashed out and that understandably pushed Suzaku to the edge and said seriously horrible stuff to Lelouch.. which, in context of him brainwashing people all this time, and making people kill themselves for his narrative, maybe Suzaku isn't completely wrong.
as someone who was a fan of both Suzaku and Lelouch this scene hit hard when I first saw this, two best friends wanting to change the world their own way brought to this point is heartbreaking.
how is kallen surprised, she's suspected lelouch since episode 3.. lelouch looks like a boss.. the guy just got shot in the head suzaku just looks disappointed
At first, I thought Kallen felt betrayed that Zero was Lelouch. However, Suzaku had basically stated that Lelouch is the cause of Euphemia's massacre and he didn't deny it. That was why she felt betrayed. (At least I think, it would justify her reaction more.)
Zero has also already abandoned the BK at this point. He suddenly left his position and no one could take command since...he never trusted anyone to. So once he's gone, it all fell apart. Kallen had to abandon her own companies to make sure Zero stays alive and now she finds all these out.
+Green Arrow The live command makes it so that his bullet dodging skills are just that much greater. Someone tried to assassinate him from behind too and they just got fucked.
I've been rewatching the series in dub, just finished this ep today and HOLY SHIT, this part is INSANELY well done. I also just realized that, by using the liquid sakuradite, Lelouch guarantees his survival since Suzaku physically can't shoot it lest he die as well, which is impossible due to his geass orders to live. Probably should've noticed that sooner ngl 😅
Having binged the first season of Code Geass this past week, I can honestly say that this part right here is nothing short of perfection. The entire season had been building up to this moment and it paid off in spades. The slow mo splitting of the helmet, the not-that-surprised reaction of Suzakus, the heightened emotions that soon turn violent because of clashing ideals between two friends, and of course "SUZAKU!" "LELOUCH!!", and the echoing gunshot. And the dubbing here is absolutely on point. JYB killed it as Lelouch.
I love this show. I know people hate suzaku, but he is supposed to be the antithesis to lelouch, who is the person the story is told through so naturally suzaku would be unlikable. But this is really an amazing moment that represents what they each embody. Lelouch is ends oriented and suzaku is means oriented. Lelouch is a man who is focused on getting what he wants, and struggles with the affects his actions have on others. Suzaku is a man who is focused on how his actions affect others, and struggles with not getting what he wants.
TheMegaUzumaki can u explain that in a different manner? I don’t disagree, but I don’t understand how him willingly serving Britannia and being an honorary Britannian conflicts with his words and actions
While it might sound cool and all with that screaming, the dub doesn't portray Lelouch well in this scene. In this video he sounds angry and ready to die but that wasn't his intention at all. In this scene Lelouch is desperate, he wants to save Nunally at all costs. Watch the original scene, his voice is shaky as hell. He wants to stop Suzaku and cooperate with him but they don't bring this across in the English version. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good but the things is, it doesn't mirror the original intent behind the character.
Lelouch and suzaku yelling at each other sound better than naruto and sasuke yelling at each other. Sasuke and sazuku have the same voice actor for anyone who didn’t know. And lelouch’s voice actor is the second black mighty morphin power ranger
Really makes me wish Johnmy voiced Naruto in all honesty. Hell, imagine Johnny voicing Sasuke and Yuri voicing Naruto as Yuri originally auditioned for the role of Naruto Uzumaki
@@Bongbongo Lelouchs character is more tragic because the whole euphy thing was a mistake, he made his love forget him, and he can never talk to people without a mask as his power grows and becomes a curse
Kallen's reaction is completely realistic. Imagine the person you put you're absolute trust in and loyalty to, willing to sacrifice your life on his word... Is George from math class
The way Lelouch bargains with his life by planting a bomb on himself. It shows how low he has come as a terrorist, and the lengths he's willing to go to save Nunally. And Suzaku shaking at having Lelouch at gunpoint. Lelouch really brushed off Euphy's death like wow. This reveal gives me chills every time. What a way to end a season.
@@hassanasad27 I think in his mind he knows Suzaku probably wouldn't have cared that it was an accident. Plus, he also probably feels shame b/c it was an easily preventable accident and he should've chose his words more carefully.
imagine hearing someone you love say that your existence is a mistake and that you are hopeless .... when sukazu said and i saw lelouch get angry and aim at him i was going crazy
She didn't betray him. Kallen was in shock and didn't know what to do. Her "betrayal" only happens during the Zero Requiem, when Lelouch lies about his motivations.
2:45 I live the animation here, the movement and the intensity and its not just dull character standing still while mouth moved and chin in static mode
I know I’m replying to a 2yo comment on a 14yo video but I thought a lot about this. So I watched the Japanese version and Suzaku says “[you lied to us]… boku to Euphy ni… Nunnally ni” Which is just “me, Euphy, and Nunnally” without any mention of relation whatsoever. So, in actuality, this just a dub continuity error! 👍 hope this helps anyone perusing the comment section on this LEGENDARY scene
Now THAT is what you call a cliffhanger! One of the best anime I have seen! The actors are OUTSTANDING and put so much effort and emotion into what they are doing.
I can never get over lelouch just straight up tells his best friend that the death of his gf is old news, like you killed her tho 😭 not that long ago either.
Its VERY subtle but at 3:22 you can see the exact frame where he snaps. His head does this weird twitch. Its attention to detail shit like that which make Code Geass so Ch'yeeeaaah buddy-tastic. 💪😎
Suzaku is constantly in pointless conflict with his own interests and it makes me despise his character so much. Don't get me wrong, he's a great foil to Lelouch and is rightly a good antagonist, but his faulty moral indignation pisses me off so much. He could have helped Lelouch in this scene and attained a sooner victory without as much bloodshed, but instead he becomes the empire's willing subordinate to tame the only man capable of stopping the endless conflict and genocide of his own people. He only "helps" at the very end, if you want to call it that, but by that point the damage is already done. Specifically, he is knowingly and willingly confiding with a far greater evil than Lelouch, as the bomb that Britannia eventually unleashes kills tens of thousands of Japanese people... and he still has the gall to pretend he's the righteous one.
He straight up told Lelouch before he deplatformed area 11, that he was going to be a murderer. His goal was to kill Zero. This is the point his morals begin to crack and flaw.
My God. You can feel the betrayal in this plot twist and the shock of truth being revealed. I haven’t seen good plots twists like this since Star Wars and Indiana Jones!
I still don't get why lelouch didn't just say his power was used for accident on euphy and he didn't ment it that to happen. Suzaku could have understood an kallen could have kept a secret.
The reason was probably that Suzaku wouldn't have believed that or listened. Think about it, if the girl who you liked (could be wrong as I haven't watched code geass in a while but I believe Suzaku liked Euphy ) was killed by a man who has killed many so far, then the murderer turns out to be your friend, and tells you it was an accident, what are the chances that you would believe him? Although that last line from "was killed" could be a reason as to why you would believe him, who has that thought process gong on at that time?
If they knew euphy really did want to help the japanese then the war effort wouldnt be that strong. Lelouch needed to use the hate from that event to encourage the japanese even more to fight
Ya the good anime that actually makes you think and challenges your perspective of the world are gone no wonder so many new people to the anime scene think it's just cringe garbage now they haven't watched old but gold stuff like this.
I just occurred to me that Suzaku couldn't have killed Lelouch even if he wanted to because the sakuradite bomb would have killed him, thus defying the Geass that Lelouch placed on him
I love how you already know lelouch is gonna pull his gun but when Suzaku says “I’ll take care of nunally” it’s sort of his last straw and you can visually see it. Great animation.
This show is pretty much perfect so I wouldn’t want to change anything, but I’d like to see what it would have been like if Zero and Euphy actually joined up.
It's a great writting tecnhique. We, the watchers, know who Zero is but what makes so impacting, is when a important character, closer to Zero, finds out who he is, while having opposite ideals to him.
Imagine Zero had another mask behind his mask and says that he planned all of this all along.

They did an awesome job with this...that acting felt so real
Dubs better than subs!!! Subs suffer the same translation issues that dubs do so you might as well enjoy good voice acting in the process! Reading your shows is a miserable and frustrating experience. That’s what books are for!
This is one of the few anime where dubs are better.
"I didn't want it to be you."
Woaw.Just...woaw.
1:21 Suzaku looked so disappointed..
handyMandy Wouldn't you if you figured out your best friend/brother from another mother was in actuality your worst enemy who murdered "as far as you're concerned" the love of your life.
True antitheist2006
Yea, poor suzaku
Because He was an asshole letting his own people die and He did nothing.
TheUzumakiSpiral Aside from the Geass incident when did he ever murder his own people? Cause the nuke doesn’t count
That’s it, I’m watching the whole thing again
Christopher Cardona yup.
Christopher Cardona I said the same thing again
I think I need to watch it again as well
You thought Dio was Zero. But it was me, Leluche!
Another JoJo reference 😂😂😂😂😂
2:34 the way Suzaku says "Past?" is super realistic and shows how much he was shook by him saying it was in the past.
4 years late, and also the way Suzaku's hands shake, as if he is trying to hold back his anger to not instantly shoot Lelouch.
as someone who was a fan of both Suzaku and Lelouch this scene hit hard when I first saw this, two best friends wanting to change the world their own way brought to this point is heartbreaking.
season 2 ending gives what you said an even deeper meaning
how is kallen surprised, she's suspected lelouch since episode 3..
lelouch looks like a boss.. the guy just got shot in the head
suzaku just looks disappointed
At first, I thought Kallen felt betrayed that Zero was Lelouch. However, Suzaku had basically stated that Lelouch is the cause of Euphemia's massacre and he didn't deny it. That was why she felt betrayed. (At least I think, it would justify her reaction more.)
Zero has also already abandoned the BK at this point. He suddenly left his position and no one could take command since...he never trusted anyone to. So once he's gone, it all fell apart. Kallen had to abandon her own companies to make sure Zero stays alive and now she finds all these out.
It would've been SO FUNNY if the SECOND Suzaku shot Zero's Mask that Kallen shot Suzaku in the back NOW that's what you call a backstabber.
Oh, I love to see that happen 😄
Wouldn't matter, Suzaku is proven to be able to dodge bullets.
@@NatePhan right he'd dodge a bullet that would've been shot while he was facing away from it
+Green Arrow The live command makes it so that his bullet dodging skills are just that much greater. Someone tried to assassinate him from behind too and they just got fucked.
Love it.... If it really happened, then the dog of Brittanians will be dead, or what, an annoying character is dead
One of Yuri Lowenthal and Johnny Yong Bosch best performance ever.
Johnny is the best!🤭🤭🤭
SASUKE!!! ICHIGO!!!
Wait! Wrong animes.
Yu Narukami and Yosuke Hanamura's relationship gone wrong. Also featuring Aigis/Nanako on the sidelines.
ya know only few ppl can relate on ur persona reference like me now
Hahahahah. That was on point.
Best Persona joke there
Simon and Rossiu bickering over the power of the spiral
I've been rewatching the series in dub, just finished this ep today and HOLY SHIT, this part is INSANELY well done. I also just realized that, by using the liquid sakuradite, Lelouch guarantees his survival since Suzaku physically can't shoot it lest he die as well, which is impossible due to his geass orders to live. Probably should've noticed that sooner ngl 😅
damn i didnt even think of that aspect of the geass order
2:34 The amount of disgust in Suzaku's voice when he repeats "past" amazes me
The Spanish guitar, the screaming of each other’s names... one of the reasons why I prefer the dub over the sub
That’s literally exactly what happened in the original too.

This mad Lelouch was so mad. He pulled out that gun fast as hell.
Lelouch: SUZAKU!!!

Me (an intellectual): donkey.
Kitty Catrina it was good until you added the intellectual part -_-
"Plankton!"
"Krabs!"
"Eugene!"
"Mommy?!"
Damn he look badass when his mask fell off
I will always love Code Geass more than DeathNote.
Same they’re both great but Lelouch is too good
I honestly like Death Note more but i can say that Lelouch is a better protagonist than Light.
@@VampireA1056 maybe bc light was just a egotistical teenager with a god complex while lelouch was actually valid and saved the people
@@Bongbongo Lelouchs character is more tragic because the whole euphy thing was a mistake, he made his love forget him, and he can never talk to people without a mask as his power grows and becomes a curse
That's bold.
When 2 S teir voice actors go absolutely ham
Kallen's reaction is completely realistic. Imagine the person you put you're absolute trust in and loyalty to, willing to sacrifice your life on his word... Is George from math class
Love it or hate it, you gotta admit Code Geass has an amazing dub.
Lelouch > Eren Jaeger.
paul>anime charcaters
The way Lelouch bargains with his life by planting a bomb on himself. It shows how low he has come as a terrorist, and the lengths he's willing to go to save Nunally. And Suzaku shaking at having Lelouch at gunpoint. Lelouch really brushed off Euphy's death like wow. This reveal gives me chills every time. What a way to end a season.
why can't he explain that Euphy death was an accident
@@hassanasad27 I think in his mind he knows Suzaku probably wouldn't have cared that it was an accident. Plus, he also probably feels shame b/c it was an easily preventable accident and he should've chose his words more carefully.
imagine hearing someone you love say that your existence is a mistake and that you are hopeless .... when sukazu said and i saw lelouch get angry and aim at him i was going crazy
I get goosebumps every time I watch this scene specifically at 3:23

Kallen betray lelouch for no reason here.what did lelouch do to her....never mind
we gentlemen jk He saw her ass. Unforgivable
That slowmo tho
Sexy as hell
Lelouch twitches when suzaku mentions nunally
“You were lying to us, me, *your sister Euphy* ”
Kallen: I’m gonna pretend I didn’t hear that
!!!
I know I’m replying to a 2yo comment on a 14yo video but I thought a lot about this.
So I watched the Japanese version and Suzaku says “[you lied to us]… boku to Euphy ni… Nunnally ni”
Which is just “me, Euphy, and Nunnally” without any mention of relation whatsoever.
3:23 bro that "SUZAKU!" gave me the fucking chills
I can never get over lelouch just straight up tells his best friend that the death of his gf is old news, like you killed her tho 😭 not that long ago either.
Suzaku is a bootlicker who gives af what he thinks?
made her massacre everyone and then killed her to make him a hero and validate his violent uprising 😂😂
Its VERY subtle but at 3:22 you can see the exact frame where he snaps. His head does this weird twitch. Its attention to detail shit like that which make Code Geass so Ch'yeeeaaah buddy-tastic. 💪😎
3:15 I love how you can see Lelouch increasingly getting more hurt, frustrated, and angry. All at the same time. Code Geass is a fucking masterpiece.
even in dub this shit is godly
The dub is actually superior here
code geass dub is better than sub
I can't even imagine having to wait one year after a cliffhanger like this
3:21
I love how Lelouch twitches at the mention of Nunally

Yes, I am Zero...
the man who leads the Black Knights who challenges the Holy Britannia Empire.
The one who holds the entire world.
*I’m not going to let your sick twisted dream be realized!*
Such a good dub 👌🏾
I love the betrayal in Suzaku’s voice.
Like imagine learning your childhood friend killed your GF.
I’d imagine you wouldn’t take it all
Am I the only one who thinks when the mask broke off that the slo mo scene was so dope
Why is lelouch being called zero? His alias is One!!
iphone777 I thought he was ichigo
Oh hey archer what are you doing here?
Is Suzaku's voice actor the same one who does Sasuke of Naruto? Cause they sound alike
Yes
This is one of the best acted scenes from an anime dub I've ever seen.
My God. You can feel the betrayal in this plot twist and the shock of truth being revealed. I haven’t seen good plots twists like this since Star Wars and Indiana Jones!
This is so anime and i love how realistic it is in many ways
I still don't get why lelouch didn't just say his power was used for accident on euphy and he didn't ment it that to happen. Suzaku could have understood an kallen could have kept a secret.
The reason was probably that Suzaku wouldn't have believed that or listened. Think about it, if the girl who you liked (could be wrong as I haven't watched code geass in a while but I believe Suzaku liked Euphy ) was killed by a man who has killed many so far, then the murderer turns out to be your friend, and tells you it was an accident, what are the chances that you would believe him?
Although that last line from "was killed" could be a reason as to why you would believe him, who has that thought process gong on at that time?
crazyflare67 true I didn't thought of that
If they knew euphy really did want to help the japanese then the war effort wouldnt be that strong. Lelouch needed to use the hate from that event to encourage the japanese even more to fight
+crazyflare67 he loved euphy. They were perfect together
Centrist 922 Oh okay. Thanks!
Lol, imagine the bullet actually headshotted Lelouch and he fell down when Suzuki was beginning to talk.
WHY DO I FIND THIS FUNNY???
Suzaku: Oh no...anyway.

Potentially one of the greatest 1st season finales EVER!!
0:57 Why does Lelouch looks so sad?
Well he certainly isn't happy lol
i think this series may have similarities between code geass world war and world war 2 the japanesse empire
There are no anime like this anymore. Nowadays we only have cringe self insert Isekai waifu nonsense and slice of life comedy crap.
based, sucks that modern anime is only getting worse
Ya the good anime that actually makes you think and challenges your perspective of the world are gone no wonder so many new people to the anime scene think it's just cringe garbage now they haven't watched old but gold stuff like this.
This is some of the best dub voice acting you’ll find😭😭
I just occurred to me that Suzaku couldn't have killed Lelouch even if he wanted to because the sakuradite bomb would have killed him, thus defying the Geass that Lelouch placed on him
One of the coolest moments in an anime, ever
when the dub is better than the sub
Ichigo Kurosaki Vs Keigo Asano
Lelouch: "Of course I would betray the world they betrayed me
I love how you already know lelouch is gonna pull his gun but when Suzaku says “I’ll take care of nunally” it’s sort of his last straw and you can visually see it. Great animation.
This show is pretty much perfect so I wouldn’t want to change anything, but I’d like to see what it would have been like if Zero and Euphy actually joined up.
It isn't perfect. It's fantastic but not flawless.
You can't make Zero's identity reveal any good... Everyone already knows ho he is!!
Sunrise:
Is that a challenge?!
It's a great writting tecnhique.
We, the watchers, know who Zero is but what makes so impacting, is when a important character, closer to Zero, finds out who he is, while having opposite ideals to him.
