As you're driving through Ranchester before you pass the gas station you caught my dad in your video walking to the store lol. He's on the right hand side in the white shirt and dark pants.
It's been my pleasure to make this trip a couple of times myself . Thank you for a beautiful video , and a nice reminder that my 69 year old memory is still pretty accurate !
Thank you for taking this route.....💜💜👍👍 Home Sweet Home...this is where I grew up...My Grandfather Worked for the forest service...In the Big Horn Mountains
Thank you for this video. I spent my childhood summers in Ranchester and the Bighorn mountains . Its been 40 yrs since I was there and it brought back memories. Priceless for me.
That's why we moved out of ND. Went to CA. When we want snow, head to Tahoe, Yosemite, & Sierras in winter. So glad don't have to shovel/snow blow those drifts any longer🥰
We like that part of the country. Last year we crossed the mountains on rt 16 through Ten Sleep. I wouldn't mind summering there but I am old enough that medical care is a must and we already get enough snow here in NH.
The stores were next to the street so when you tied your horse up, they were still standing in the road. Made for easier clean up and no manure on the sidewalk. I lived in Montana for ten years, looking at those mountains makes me think of the quietness and smell of the pines as I snuck through the woods with my bow looking for elk.
The Bighorns are my favorite !! I should have moved there back in the early 90s when it was affordable. Wyoming is one of the most beautiful states. Dont judge it by the highway views.
Good morning Russ. Good to have you back. Scenic road ahead and another small town USA to check out. It doesn't get any better than this... Thumbs Up ...
We were in Cody for a couple days and went through the museum there. I hope you can do that too if it's open. In Cody then we traveled over the Bighorn mountains eastbound. It is gorgeous country.
Love your videos. Took 14A from Cody, WY to Ranchester to I90 via motorcycle. Great ride! Keep vids coming. Getting some good ideas on where to ride next.
Glad you made it to Sheridan. My hometown, born and raised, lived here all my life except for the 7 years I was in the Navy. Ranchester/Dayton are cool little towns too. Lots of memories made in both places. Mountains as backdrop on all three places is the icing on the cake.
We rode this on our Harley's in 2020 but stayed on 14 to Greybull, not 14A. COVID had everyone locked in and we had the roads almost all to ourselves. The biggest thing I remember about the Bighorns is the stark contrast going up on the lush green east side then down on the barren desert-like west side! Nice clear video you made! Thanks!
Didn't want this one to end, so I can't wait for the next video! Hope you get to stay at a campground and film some firepit activity, that would be great for the vlog. I feel Yellowstone is coming up!
I really appreciate the format of your videos with road footage and well-placed drone views for context. This is a great channel for planning road trips or just relaxing. Thanks for your work!
Russ I so hope you didn't miss the Medicine Wheel up by Burgess Junction. Talk about some incredible drone footage. And some good eats at Burgess if you stop there. Also when you hit the west side of the mountains Shell Falls is a must see.
@@madl555 the dinosaur dig is located on red Gulch Road outside of Greybull. Paint Rock Lakes are on the Greybull Side of the Mountain.. by Black Mountain. Not the Lovell side. Lovell side has porcupine Falls.
I am familiar with the area S I have relatives in Dayton. July is the only time it is warm in the Big Horns. Beautiful trails, four wheeling and Snow mobiling.
Hey Russ, glad to see you back again! Loving the beautiful scenery! I know you're in Wyoming, but any chance you'll head to the Little Bighorn Battlefield? Stay safe and see you in the next video!👍😃
Rode our own horses we hauled out from Iowa up to about 10,000' out of Story, camped and fished for about a week. It was July and we got pelleted with a little bit of sleet on the way down. Nice memory.
When you said you were headed to Wyoming I was hoping you’d go to the Bighorn NF area. Fantastic boondocking spots up on the mountain but quite the haul getting up there! Can’t wait to see what happens next.
We stayed in Buffalo and drove 16 across and then went up and took 14 back. Early June the wild flowers were pretty. The Snowy range south of Laramie is pretty too. 16 is more big rig friendly.
I loved today's video! The small towns, the farm and mountain scenery, and of course the drone shots (which I wouldn't see if I was there myself since I don't have a drone. hehe). Can't wait for the next video!
Hay Russ, Love your videos (been watching for years). Get up, make a coffee, watch RVerTV are my days at the moment. Been to States 15 times and driven around much of the SW (including Quartzsite in 2018). Glad to see you are away from Sturgis. Lovely town and area but a little too 'White Libertarian' for me and not the States I know and love. Looking forward to Wyoming. Are you planning a trip to Devils Tower? Best Wishes. Steve from Sheffield England.
Beautiful scenery. Some of the brown grasses remind me of CA "golden" aka brown/dead grasses. Think you escaped Sturgis just in time before things got a bit out of control between waring factions. So keep staying safe.
I've been to Yellowstone 3 times its wide open and beautiful going on us 287 this b.coover I went through rawlins and rock springs Cheyenne and Laramie and over close to south Dakota to mount rushmore
I am from Phoenix now. You must definitely do top of the world Highway it is like no other from Cody to MY up Chief Joseph highway to Red Lodge is one of the best in the World.
Russ i live in Australia and I bought some honey from a guy on your show ,Montana wild crafted honey and if Wyoming looks a bit like Montana no wonder its the best honey I’ve ever had in my lifetime
Wow that place looks fantastic, so green and beautiful, i love your drone shots, i have a drone and the video comes out great, just a mavic mini but the quality is nice,, always watching your videos ,, thanks
I'm thinking of retiring in Wyoming. Are stores supplied through the winter? I assume you heavily stock up. Power outages? Here in Cal we're getting power blackouts now and fires.
@@Sonoma_Coast Most towns have well supplied stores. 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive is a must during severe snow storms. If you live out in the country far from the paved roads it will be difficult at times to resupply so you would need to stock up. Winters can be brutal.

Safe travels Russ!
Hey, thanks for posting these videos. I plan on retiring in 2 years and doing a lot of exploring. I don't know if you respond to these comments, but what do you use as a dashcam mount? Thanks and safe travels.
If the fossil fuel industry in this country gets eradicated as some people, we'll be back to riding horses and...oh...wait...the animal-rights activists won't allow that, either. We'll be back to walking. Or maybe riding bikes.
Hi Russ: Wife and I enjoying your daily travels. Keep up the good work!! What happened with Sundance/Devils Tower and Gillette? You drove by on the interstate with not a single word. Color us curious.
