I see they were using your drives a lot at first, but later had you playing more of a designated hitter role. Never played a scramble with a gimmie second putt. You guys should have went at the pins more aggressive with your putts since you had that gimmie second shot. Could have nailed a few more birdies early on. Or at least a couple of the players. Your team did finish strong though so that was cool. What was the wining score? I'm guessing with that format probably 9 or 10 under? Seemed like a decent bunch of fellas to golf with anyway. Crazy how you can play in a scramble and still not get way under par. I have played in quite a few with some decent teams and the best we ever did was like 6 under. Seems like you should be able to birdie half the holes at least, but it's harder than you think. Really shows you how good the pros really are and how hard the game really is.
Yeah I really reflected on it after the round but I was overswinging for no good reason. Even my normal drives were going 40+ yards past everyone in our group but I was trying to hit 330 yard bombs after realizing two of our guys were fairway finders. Best net score was -18, best hcp adjusted was like -32 lol it was kind of a silly format but it was for charity so we weren't really looking to go out and win; especially as 2 of the guys that played were pretty much older, brand new golfers. The greens were also recently punched and still recovering so long putts were SUPER unpredictable. You can kind of see the ball wiggling and S-turning on a number of those putts. Was still super fun tho!
@@PerfectlyAverageGolf Wow -18 eh? That is pretty crazy. But the gimmie 2nd putt might account for some of that. I have seen many a second putt missed in a scramble. Yeah the DH role is a good strategy it just did not pay off. You can bomb your drives though that's for sure. Would have been cool to see all the shots, but that would have been a lot on you and some guys might not be fans of being filmed. Great video though - really enjoyed it man.
I recently discovered a golf trip booking service specific to western NC. Lots of public places like Sequoyah, Connestee, Cummings. But if you got the budget, there’s a handful of private places they have access to as well. I took a foursome to Burlingame out in Cashiers, and all 4 of us consider it the best course we’ve ever seen, and I’ve played more than a few. It’s called First Tee Mountain Golf, if you or anyone here want to check it out.
This was an unreal shoutout as I've played nearly every public course in the area, I just sent them an email so here's hoping to sneak in one round at one of the private courses out near Cashiers before it gets too cold!
Highly recommend Burlingame and Bright’s Creek. But there’s a course on there called Balsam Mountain. Haven’t gotten a chance to play it yet, but if it’s anything like it’s pictures and hole flyovers, it’s next level.
I remember playing this years ago, truly a treasure. Fazio never fails!!
Wish I would have just played the course like I normally would instead of trying to bomb for the scramble lol was a PURE track
Good stuff. Like seeing the scramble. You looking like me out there. Lol
Hahaha was swinging WAY TOO HARD after the first 5 holes lol
You did well. Short game was smooth.
I was crushing driver to start then started overswinging :( but it was still a huge treat
These videos continue to be one of my calming influences.
