What bands would you have like to have seen on this list? Comment below!
Burzum for B
Nargaroth, Darkened nocturn slaughtercult and Beherit
Dissection and Lifelover
leviathan for L
Drudkh, Horna, Ifernach, Nyktalgia, Sargeist/Svartidauði, Winterfylleth/Wolves In The Throne Room
It's hard to kick Darkthrone off of the list, but since Dissection is my favorite band I'm still gonna be pissed about it lol
I thought that aswell haha. but to be completely honest darkthrone has had a larger impact on black metal as a whole than dissection, but they really were something else
@@dawidbylka2706 I'd say it's the other way around. Darkthrone were by far the least impactful of the original norwegian bands. Great band, but not exactly innovative. Dissection on the other hand changed black metal forever, they showed that you could write somewhat more complicated songs with better song structures and still be successful. The Somberlain changed the game for all black metal, and when they released Storm of the Lights Bane they were instantly immortalized.
@@damnedbelowjudas_ you've probably just heard the wrong songs. Storm of the Lights Bane is one of the best Black Metal albums ever made. Listen to it and you'll change your mind.
@@LordBaal666 meh, I kinda agree. Dissection is definitely more innovative and original for its time I dont really see its impact on the genre. they were a great band but thats it. darkthrone on the other hand was at the fore front of the second wave and I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss its involvement in the development of black metal.
@@dawidbylka2706 I'm not discrediting Darkthrone or saying that they weren't a big part of the creation of the second wave scene, but their music in itself didn't have anything new or exciting to offer. Dissection took the atmosphere and evil of black metal and combined it with the brutality and superior song structures of Gothenburgs melodeath scene, which sparked enough imitators to reach the moon basically.
Edit: I do see your point, and obviously I am biased towards my favorite band haha, so I think we'll just have to agree to disagree 🤘🏻
Easily one of the best black metal videos, not just on UA-cam but anywhere. Amazing Dev. Horns up. I would have loved to see a Bathory riff. I don't know if you do fan requests who are not on your patron, but I would appreciate if you could do a guitar lesson on Mark of the beast by Lord Belial. Cheers.
Thanks a lot man, best thing is to book a lesson with me to learn specific songs - Devgohilofficial@gmail.com
Ygg, fuck yeah, didn't expect that. I love those Behexen, Judas Iscariot and Xasthur riffs as well. Fantastic playing man. Sounding great too.

Great to see xasthur getting some love.
I would kill to see a xasthur lesson.
Damn, your guitar playing is so tight !
thanks my g
Dude, Dev, I've been watching your videos for a while now, and you've inspired me to push in other directions in my black metal playing, but this video is absolutely stellar. Great sound, great playing, awesome selection. You help communicate the elegance that exists in black metal. You're a true asset to the BM world
Thanks man, glad you’re getting value
Dude, this is so good! Thanks a lot. You're a huge inspiration.
Thanks a lot man
sounds better than the original sometimes. nice one
You should do a dedicated Nightbringer video and explain how all three guitarists manage to create a cohesive sound.
Still trying to work that out! There’s layers and layers of tracks in the recordings, makes things difficult
I was pretty damn surprised to see Funeral mist on this list! Maybe a full cover of Anathema maranatha..?
Your playing, collection, and that griever pendant again, so good!!
has anyone turned this into a spotify playlist yet?
I miss Wiegedood, Peste Noire, Burzum, Nokturnal Mortum, Sargeist, Ad Hominem, Anaal Natrakh, Satanic Warmaster but definitely a great list and awesome video! You've inspired me a lot with this one!
YGG, excellent band. Very similar at Drudkh & Hate-Forest.
2:08 look at the happy face after an awesome riff :D

Amazing List! Would love to see MGLA and Thorns on here. Love the Judas Iscariot song. Very underrated band. Keep up the good work you are my favorite channel on youtube. I would love to see a lesson on any song by Xasthur. Hails \m/

They were! Thanks man
One of the best videos on UA-cam!
I’ve never heard the Ascension song but I like it a lot. I’ll have to check them out.
Edit: all awesome selections. Not a bad riff in the bunch - they’re all top quality and you really gave a great overview of the whole genre
Thanks man
Dude, now I like to listen to Verdelet's Blackened Bones. Thanks for suggesting that band for me to listen to.

Moving thru Black, but they are a new band.
Was about to mention Limbonic Art's Ultimate Death Worship for riff display even tho the earlier albums overall are way better...then you did throw a Limbonic riff in 😁

@@DevGohil damn right 😈 O and the song that this did remind me of is LA's Interstellar Overdrive
I hoped for Woods of Ypress for W and had totally forgotten Watain 🤦
Could you do a video of amp general amp settings for bm? If you haven‘t done it allready. I‘m stuck in the swamp

Thanks man, Darrell used the Archetype Gojira plugin, works beautifully
@@DevGohil Could you share your Archetype Gojira presets in some way? Would be very appreciated :)
@@inumbrate860 you’ll have to message Darrell, he did the mix
hi Dev!!!
D is a hard choice. Dissection, Dark Funeral, Dimmu Borgir...
for sure
Nice guitar collection!! Do you play 8 strings too?
Thanks man, only played 8 stringed guitars and I don't own one
Great!
Oh nice!
When and why do you choose an ML over the V and vice-versa?
Each guitar in this video is in a different tuning
@@DevGohil Thanks for the reply! I'm looking at purchasing either a Dean ML or V and was curious about how they compare to one another.
@@joshuabean846 MLs sound better, both play great
Good to know. Thanks again for replying!!! 🤘
