Maybe it's because I'm old but seeing my fav bands from the 80's does nothing for me now. I don't think any of them sound very good anymore and it seems like the bands and the crowds are on autopilot.
That's because none of they were any good back in the 1980s. MTV made you think these bands were good. They were bar bands made famous by marketing men. Meanwhile those marketing men made sure you heard very little from great talents like Yngwie Malmsteen and a roster of stellar bands from Japan, all of whom are still good. Here is 60 year old Yngwie playing lights out: ua-cam.com/video/cfEYmnZPK7E/v-deo.html
@johnp.johnson1541 Good Rock and Roll is a young man's game. The intensity, the energy, the excitement, the crowds. Nobody can play the same songs for 30-40 years and replicate or maintain the same level of excitement. And yes, Yngwie is still a very good player. However, the truth is he was never the same after his car accident. And no matter how good he is how many times can I listen to him run up and down the same scales at warp speed? In the early 80's it was incredible. Mind-blowing. Now it's boring. I can listen to Yngwie now for maybe 15 minutes tops. It just ain't the same. As far as the other bands go I disagree. Sure a lot of the big 80's bands were sloppy as hell (and some like Motley Crue sucked even back then). But take G & R as an example. Go back and watch the famous live show at the Ritz (around 1988 I think). The energy and electricity were off the charts even though I've ALWAYS found Axl's voice grating. Comparing that show to this shit illustrates exactly why hard rock music played by 60-80 year olds is lame. I include myself in this category. I'm a 59 year old guitar player in a classic rock cover band. We sound pretty good but frankly we play in bars and are basically background noise for the eaters and drinkers. We get a decent pop a couple times a night. It is what it is.
@@Boudica234 To a degree I can agree that it is a young man's game. That is so because those who stick with it, they become professional and profits-oriented. The business side consumes the creative side. When people are young, they are unaware if they are making mistakes, whether they are writing music for mass appeal and so on. They rush to the front of the field of battle without a care. Rock lives in Japan. The scene has been booming for 40 years. Every week, a new band seems to come along. The drug-free musicianship is at a higher level.
@johnp.johnson1541 I agree with u that the musicianship of the new generation of rockers is impressive and WAY ahead of my generation. I think a lot of it is the internet and You Tube. Back when I was a young pup learning how to play wasn't that easy. Maybe u took lessons or learned from friends. Most of the guitar tabs back then were either a little off, way off or essentially useless. I remember when we would play tapes at a slowed down speed desperately trying to figure out what guys like Eddie and Randy were playing. It's so much easier now. Thousand of free videos available on chords, theory, technique, sound etc. It's incredible. And now when I want to learn how to play a song all I have to do is visit You Tube and find a dozen different lessons-some of them spot on. If we had this shit when I was 15 the level of playing would have skyrocketed. That's the huge advantage the youngsters of today have and I'm convinced that's why the level of playing today is so good.
@@johnp.johnson1541lmfaoo whatever you say GnR’s debut album is one of the great rock albums in history. I could give 2 shits that Yngwie can noodle on a guitar his ego is a lot Bigger than his talent.

Bigger than his talent.
Say no to drugs kids. Voice is shot.
Axl should take years long break from singing. Maybe that should fix his voice
after that kind of vocal fiasko people should ask for their money back
That's why I didn't go. If this was the early 90's, I'd be there.
Axl takes by charisma
lets here yours
