- Back at it again with some more e30 content! We had another stroker job on the books so of course we filmed it, more information off of the last video, with less information at the same time, it makes sense if you watch it, so thanks for watching!

Love the m20 build...I have done a few of this...u can also use a m3 3.0 e36 /crankshaft with m20 320i conrods...and a vw jetta VR6 coilpack system...I sell the fuel management systems for these m20 stroker builds with the built in launch control setup. Try to look for Gotze headgasket sets as they are very good...also try using a bmw e28 535i throttle body and piping and also a shrick 272/276 camshaft or try looking for a iskendran camshaft with same specs...they very hard to find but they are out there...
LMAO at your Industrial Hygienist Guy comment. Dude, that was beautiful! I've seen people go completely lose it over shops with dirty floors. Personally, it's how you can tell if the engine is being built in an actual shop or in a television studio. These "industrial hygienists" are the people at BMW BURY the engines under black plastic for. Perhaps you need a warning label - not for people queasy at the sight of metal and grease. As for me, it's BMW car porn that I live for! Thanks for educating all of us. Keep on ticking off the trolls!
By the way, that cylinder head went from being a tetanus shot to being clean enough to eat from. Definitely earns the industrial hygienist's seal of approval!
I think the idea is more that some of the fluids are known carcinogens. Take a look at a label on gear oil for example. Exposure to skin, especially long term is not a safe move. No, I am not "that" hygiene guy. I always have to remind myself to wear gloves as well.

Will did my 2.7 several months ago, love it, added a sssquid chip big difference, it rips. Planning a cam/rockers/springs/injector/header upgrade later this year see what she does on the dyno. DBO did a great job for me.

I’ve heard that the stamped steel intermediate shaft gears have a history of breaking and should be replaced with the newer style cast gear when replacing the timing belt. It’s only $30 too so not too bad. What are your thoughts on this? Have you ever seen or heard of them failing?

The auto to manual swap wiring is simple. Don’t jump anything. All e30 body harnesses are set up from the factory as manual trans. The auto harness is its own that can be easily removed. You can easily see where the connectors go once it’s removed and the car will start up with no issues. Even cruise will work. It uses the clutch switch .

M60B40 is one of the only exceptions for the necessity to tune with an injector drop in. I've used a few different sets and each was noticeably different than OEM and NONE made it run bad. One of the only exceptions to needing a tune is that engine on a 404 DME. Obviously you'll benefit more from a tune that takes the injectors into consideration. I liked the yellow v8 mustang Bosch ones on mine. Idle not effected, much fatter midrange powerband and a little more on the top end. It's a cheap, easy and worthwhile mod on the b40. Something like an m5x/ s5x, forget it. You NEED a tuned EPROM to run the bigger injectors and or larger MAF. The pink tops off an s52 are an upgrade on an m5x engine but If i were doing it, i would do the injectors, 3.5" MAF and cams all at once and get the tune once. There are a ton of tuners that have off the shelf tunes for this exact group of mods. Great video Will and Hamish!!! You guys help take all the guesswork and bullshit outnif building one of these if you haven't been balls deep in them for years like a bunch of us. We all gotta start somewhere. A set of ARP'S and a Cometic is what if throw on, that was when your customer wants to boost it, he already has two important ingredients to his F.I. build that he doesn't need to rebuy.

I always told people that my old nissan altima ka24de 4 banger tractor engine was technically a stroked out sr20, and that it was like an LS engine in that it was 150 cubic inches with 150 horses, and that a LS is 350 cubic inches and has 350 horses. haha good times.
That pressed metal intermediate shaft gear is a ticking timebomb. The sintered version should be used.
Also want to do valve clearances with head on and torqued as the clearance move when the head is bolted

Another option for engine management would be speeduino. Cheaper than MS2 but doesn't have all the features.
and the 2.7 motor you speaking about is a very uncommon motor in SA. They only came in our bmw 325is as we in SA didnt get the 325E or the M3 E30 we only got the 325is and 333i.but i would love to see the 2.9 build

Intake and exhaust studs where are you getting them what size?? I found some m8×40mm exhaust studs at Ace. But what about the rest. My Goetze headgasket arrives tomorrow I've been collecting every part to turbo my 88 325 with an 885 head I just put diy ms2pnp in and have her working well.. have a pile of turbo goodies gonna start pulling the head tomorrow or Saturday. I just need to figure out what size intercooler I'm using ..and weld up my downpipe and full exhaust. Have a ton of 3in . Using a holset HY35 that was rebuilt and balanced after my buddy made 550 on his audi I think itwas.
42lb injectors, 2.5 inch piping. Obviouslyno afm since I got megasquirt. Adding a 38mm wastegate to my manifold. .im just few blocks west of i25 on Colfax. I might drive and see you guys with my car full of parts before I start . Bullshit over some beers and yall can tell me what not to mess up hahah .
I have few question head bolts try, no lube??. Also if you are using e-torx head bolts you don´t need to warm up then engine to do last degree extortion, when those normal bolt head are stretch version??
Also that metal oil pump sprocket should be changed in 42:29 casting sprocket, when those can degrade over time, when they are rusting

I might have missed something, but I thought that the Super ETA already had an 885 head, and you would just need to swap the cams and springs (along with everything else you’re doing). But I thought you said you got a new 325 885. Is the super eta 885 head casting different than the 325 head?

Yes it will work just fine using the e28 engine

Other than the head it self from the 2.5 and the pistons what else should be moved from the 2.5 block to the 2.7?
Basically the only thing you are going to retain from the 2.7 will be the crank/rods, block, oil pump, and cooling system

Hey man, I've got a 1990 E34 M20. Engine blew, so I picked up a M20 from a salvage yard. I was told it was for an E34. (My first time messing with M20s) After I pulled the blown motor, I noticed the engine mount setup was different. Turns out the M20 I bought was out of an E30. It is the same motor, correct? I noticed the part numbers for some of the sensors are different. Do I need to swap the harness over, or can I plug it into the C191 connector and get the party started? Don't know what year model it came out of, it'ss definitely an i head, not sure about the block.
Is it an "i" motor? Are the I take runners as big as your engine? If they are smaller it is an eta motor and you'll have a hard time making it work. If they are the same you are good. I would definitely swap your harness on, it will make your life much easier.

What is the length of the m20b20 connecting rods? We didn't get those in the US.
All the way from South Africa. Almost everyone in South Africa is running the M20B29 or the M20b31 (with a crankshaft from the e46 330). You can follow Eric Maswaya or Sunesh Pursad. (these are the guys running these crazy engines.
