- Pt. Venkatesh Kumar's penultimate piece at the FEA-curated PARALLEL LINES concert in Pune was a rendition of Raag Basant.
He was accompanied by Bharat Kamat on tabla and Suyog Kundalkar on harmonium. Tanpura and vocal support was provided by his disciples Shivraj Patil and Keyur Kurulkar.

You can just see the reverence for him in the mien of the Tabla player & the Harmonium player. His supporting vocalists are looking like they’ve been transported to another world! May the higher power grant him a long life & a long career!!

Taal is teeltaal/kherva
teentaal is 16 beat and kherva is 8 so they are interchangeable most of the time but teentaal is more advanced and it is what they are using primarily in this raag, but sometimes they use kherva

Let us go to see the beautiful season of Spring (Basant, also the name of the Raaga that the composition is in) at Vrindavan (the place where Lord Krishna spent his childhood). In this beauty of Spring we will find young Lord Krishna, tells me 'Kagawa', a messenger bird. The song then describes the beauty of spring with all its flowers, and says that with the arrival of Spring, I will embrace Lord Krishna.
