Thank you PeanutButterMan. This video was superb and we replaced the printerhead with very little problem. My mopther in laws HP Photosmart 5520 is like new again! She's eternally grateful!!
Brilliantly clear, with all the little 'wrinkles' that you need to know. I think this is the clearest printer video I've watched (and I've watched a lot.)Thanks!
This video is excellent, so clear and detailed. My printer was not printing black, this video walked me through and I was able to get it printing again! Without this video I wouldn’t have any idea how to do it all. Thank you for your help!
This helped me a lot, thank you so much! My printer just wasn't printing anything. After cleaning, it started printing again! On the first tests, the colors were way off. But after a while and some prints later, it was good again.
Thank you for this video, thus I followed your the instructions and tried to clean up the printerheard of my printer but upon fitting back all parts and switched on it gave me a new problem. The printer head is jerking and cannot move from one ent to the other as before. Please need advice on this to fix as I am in need of use to print my students worksheets. Thank you
Worked well. Nothing would work on printer because of fault with blue. Even changing the cartridge and all the resets did nothing. Video wonderfully short and well made. Soaked the heads in warm water (right up so ink 'inlets' were also immersed). Only 'fault' with the video - display ribbon cable goes through right slot. Many thanks.
love how easy to follow this video is! however, now i am having an issue -- "ink cartridges problem -- one or more cartridges appear to be missing or damaged. install or replace the affected cartridges," and it's all of them. they all have ink, i took it apart and put it back together a second time to make sure the ribbon cables were securely in... they seem fine.
Great video! Thanks! A question for you: After running the clean printhead on my 5520, the test page it printed looks just like yours. My question is, how can it print the black heading and numbered points, but yet doesn't print any black in the gradient area and won't print a black document?
nice give it a try cause "mysteriously" after i replaced cartridges with 3rd party - yellow stopped working.... i hope its not software locked and just hardeware with clearning
Man thanks for such an awesome video. However after I cleaned and put back together still no black ink and brand new cartridge. Other colors are fine. Nuts.
Hi there, thanks for the video. I ordered the same replacement printhead you suggested after attempts to clean the original failed, but upon installation I just get a printer failure error "0xc19a0013." Did you encounter this at all? I'm pretty positive I'm installing it the right way, since I did it multiple times with the old printhead with no error.
at 0:53 there's a clip in the center that you have to push in firmly while pulling the side as well to release a clip there.. and it's in there tight so yes, you may need more power..
@@tongo117 I guess new printer for me. No how matter hard I try, I can't get the "clip" pushed in. Or better explanation. Should I try a screwdriver to push it? I have looked inside with a mirror and think I see it, but, still, no success.
@@tongo117 I appreciate your video. But it would help if you include extra video of the clip itself, which, being inside, at a location that would require more effort to video record. I pushed as hard as my finger could tolerate, tried using a glove for cushioning, used a mechanic's mirror to locate what I thought was the clip, and made a feeble attempt with a screwdriver used instead of my finger, but could not keep it on the clip. So as I said, I got really frustrated and after several Guiness Extra Stouts just ripped the screen off and then was able to proceed with your instructions. My problem was when replacing the black cartridge, I didn't properly snap it back in, so the print head was stuck. But I got the top off, snapped the cartridge in properly, re-connected the top, re-inserted the data cable to the screen and it works. Except the screen no longer functions but I seldom used it, usually using the computer interface. So, thanks, I don't think I will have to buy a new printer. It seems printers have gone up in price, probably because more people are buying 2nd party ink cartridges, which are much cheaper than the printer manufactures ink from which they derived most of their profit. So now, more of the cost of the actual printer is being reflected in their new higher cost. Also more DIY videos like yours, enabling people to prolong their printer's lifespan. That is my theory, anyway.
One of the clearest DIY videos I’ve seen.
By broken your old printer head you have now big experience to make this great and professional video guide. So helpful thank you.

Easy to follow instructions. Video was great. Did exactly as you described. But, now my hp5520 won't turn on!! Please help!! Thank you.
First thought would be to check the ribbon cables on the front control panel and printer head.. Power goes through them..
