I love that you went straight into ICU as a new grad ❤ I'm always reminding my nursing school friends that non traditional nursing roles are absolutely fine to go straight into! I'll be going straight into the prisons as a correctionals nurse when I graduate 🥰 The disposable jacket is so cool!! We aren't allowed jackets or long sleeves in the UK. We have a bare below the elbow policy, no watches, no sleeves of any kind - it gets COLD AF sometimes 🤣 I love how you explained there's no typical day as every day is different, it's so true ❤
So true! The non-traditional areas are so interesting and unique. And wow! A correctional nurse! That’s awesome Faye. And I totally understand why there would be a below the elbow policy in nursing/healthcare, because so many things can get on our arms that could be carried to the next person or home. Thank you girl❤️❤️!
@@Nurse_Robyn I agree so much! It's an interesting world in nursing ❤ oh yes 10 years I have wanted be a correctionals nurse! Yeah it is a health and safety rule over here which I fully get but I'd love to wear my FitBit instead of a fobwatch 🤣Thank you Robyn ❤
I’m so happy they help💓! And as long as you have faith in God and in yourself, you can take on the challenges that the ICU brings. I literally learn something everyday lol
I love how you vlog! Please do more :) Also your so pretty lol.. I am a new graduate LVN and I want to be an ICU nurse when I go back for my RN. Can't wait to see how your journey goes
I enjoy the challenges that comes with being in the ICU. It’s intimidating at first, but once I master it, I feel like I’m conquering my profession more and more. But Thank you love💗 and yesss, more videos are coming soon!
I wish I would have applied for a new grad ICU position when they were offering them. I was to stressed about school 😢. I took a medsurge position instead. Love your videos and I can’t wait until I land a ICU position myself. 😊
There is so much to learn on medsurg, so it will definitely help you out in the next specialty you go to! Everything falls in place, especially when you find enjoyment in the position you’re in now as you prep for the next step! Super excited for you💗
So normal to feel nervous and overwhelmed, it’s literally so much information coming at once 😭 all you can do is give your best, pray, and stay encouraged! It gets better 💓
Love your video!!! I just graduated nursing school last month and was just accepted to three icus ! Lol Which ICU are you currently in ? ( neuro/cardiac/micu? )
In the beginning, my preceptor will make sure I have all of the right meds and ensure I do all of the right ways to verify before I administer any meds (right patient, right route, right time, right medication, etc). As I’m becoming more independent since I am halfway through my residency, we walk through it before I pull any meds and I’m able to give meds by myself now

Aww thank you!❤️ and it’s so good that you want to go back and into the ICU. I’m rooting for you, also!💗
Trying to decide between icu and nicu. Thanks for the video. 🌸
Glad it was helpful! Whichever one you choose, they're both challenging, but great picks. You got it!

I’m so proud of you Rob🥰! Could we have more videos like this please? What is your favorite part on being an ICU Nurse?

Hello, I am a new grad nurse, where can I apply for a new grad ICU position?
I'd suggest by starting with looking up upcoming icu residencies for new grads! Some hospitals call them internships (nurse internships)
I started my nurse residency last week also in the ICU. So nervous and overwhelmed already. 😩😂💛
So normal to feel nervous and overwhelmed, it’s literally so much information coming at once 😭 all you can do is give your best, pray, and stay encouraged! It gets better 💓
That is a massive store room. So lucky.
Do the icu unit makes you wear the scrub cap or is it your preference?
Hey, and no they don't require us to wear it. I choose to wear it as a extra shield sometimes.
Love your video!!! I just graduated nursing school last month and was just accepted to three icus ! Lol
Which ICU are you currently in ? ( neuro/cardiac/micu? )
Congrats on graduating💕! And I'm in the surgical transplant ICU
Is preceptor with you while giving meds
