Great points. Although I have to admit that 2010-2014 Hot Topic is nostalgic to me, I realize that it’s nostalgic because I was a teenager and I was having so much fun during that time and I like those memories... it’s not because of what Hot Topic was selling at the time because like you mentioned they’re still selling a lot of the same stuff lol and even though I never worked there I get annoyed when I hear people saying they miss the "old Hot Topic". Also, 1 thing I realized is that the people who used to talk shit about the store and would refuse to even go in are the same ones shopping there now 😂
People bitch about how hot topic “used to be” but our parents did the exact same thing. Everyone my age needs to accept we’re aging lol
Yeaa I worked at HT a while the amount of ppl outraged at the lack of three days Grace shirts and rubber band bracelets was shocking lol or this one guy outraged we didn’t have any NOFX stuff 😆 but it’s kinda weird last few months I’ve seen more mid 2000’s hot topic looking throwback merch in the stores then any other time in like the last 8 years
Yeah the 2000s revival lately has been insane! I even bought some jelly bracelets the other day. Nice to have some of this stuff back, but I’m always gonna love hot topic regardless of what’s on trend. People are just really struggling to accept that we’re getting older lately lol
I loooove this video, and you're right bae we are AGING. But ur also right about never being too old to dress the way you want. I was a scene queen in high school and I look back on it fondly at a glance, but then i remember all the bullying and being so effing broke I had to take old bellbottom jeans and sew them on the inside to make them look skinny. It wasn't particularly fun lol. I find myself missing those days, but I think what I really missed is being socially "allowed" to dress the way I wanted. It seems silly typing it out, but I really did feel like i was too old to be scene or emo because i wasn't a teenager anymore. The magic was gone. And it is, in some ways. But there's something filling its place. It's called LIFE GOT MUCH BETTER AFTER HIGH SCHOOL AND I HAVE GROWN AND ACTUALLY HAVE MONEY NOW. So yeah, I'm aging. But i'mma do it in STYLE....like, literally. And I hope anyone else who's feeling that way can feel better too. OH and do you have any plans to attend the When We Were Young festival? I meant to ask in a separate comment and didn't lol
I will not be attending. After astroworld went the way it did, I’m going to avoid any event with the possibility of a similar outcome. It seems sketchy. I also have a hard time with concerts and stuff so I rarely go to any. Maybe one day I’ll go to a festival of some sort!
@@cokeandredrum i get that, with covid still being such a huge problem in the u.s. it really is best to skip things like that. I do wish things were different tho, i've never been able to see most of those bands before. I watched PTV's home recording of Hold On Till May and i might have cried a bit wishing i could see them lol
Personally I'm just siiiick of anime and my hot topic has an overwhelming amount of anime.
