The creative genius of US writer Stan Lee (1922-2018) generated 'Spider Man', 'X-Men', 'The Hulk' and other complex characters. Marvel Comics with Lee at the helm became hugely successful. TRANSCRIPT: People often ask me which of the DC characters would I have liked to have written, and it really doesn't matter to me 'cause I like writing anything. I think if I had done Superman I would have done him differently. I would have made him more vulnerable. I think the idea of being able to do anything makes you a little uninteresting. Batman is a good idea. It's interesting, the writer of Batman… the fellow who… created Batman - Bob Kane - was a friend of mine, and he was a funny guy. Just the opposite of me. He would go to a restaurant with me, we'd have dinner. Minute the waiter came over: ‘Do you know who I am? I'm Bob Kane. I created Batman. Here, I'll draw you a picture’. I wanted to crawl under the table. I would never say anything like that. But he was so happy that he… and proud of what he had done, and he… and he was always late. Every time we had dinner with our wives, if the appointment was for 8 o’clock he's get there a quarter after. And we tried to top each other. Joan and I would say at the next dinner, you know what? Let's be 20 minutes late, we'll show them. So we'd get there 20 minutes late but he won, he'd be a half hour late. And we'd say, let's get there three quarters of an hour late. He'd be there an hour late. I mean, I couldn't beat this guy. But anyway I… there was a time about, I don't know, six, seven, eight years ago, when DC comics asked me… they wanted to do a series of books called: What if Stan Lee had created the DC universe, or something like that, and they asked me to write Superman, Batman, the… Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern and… I don't know, 10 or 12 of their books, as if I had created them. So I changed all of them around. I made Batman a black man. I made The Flash a female. Just for fun, just to make them different. I really enjoyed doing it.

Makes me wish Stan Lee had written Superman. Superman is one of my least favorite super heroes for the exact reasons he stated and I've been saying it for years. Stan Lee liked to bring disabilities, flaws, and some degree of humanity to his creations which is why a lot of people like his characters.
I also agree about Batman. Batman is one of DC's strongest Heroes in terms of character design.
Back in the day people wanted something or someone to be un stoppable, they wanted a human like hero that stops the villain in any kind of situation. Making a powerful character isn't a flaw, but an inspiration and it brings people hope. Some people want to look up to superman because it INSPIRE's them to become a better person, whether if its an alien or human.
But everybody loves superman

It’s actually not true, Superman isn’t even top 10 most powerful DC characters, he has many weaknesses both physically and mentally, that’s why his most deadly villain, Lex Luthor, is literally just a human who knows his physical and mental weaknesses.
But with Superman you have different aspects to his story than dissabilties and physical flaws like daredevils blindness or dr. stranges hands.
Even though Clark Kent is basically unstoppable he is the most human out of all the superheroes (besides maybe spider-man). He constantly struggles to do the right thing, to choose his moral and human side. His life is a constant battle between his inborn kryptonian side and his human side that was raised by his adoptive parents. He has trust issues because he fears he will bring everyone in danger who learns his secret.
I think a lot of people can relate to his everyday struggles if not to his superpowers and invulnerability.

From 1942 to 1959 Stan Lee as an editor did not create anything, not a single famous character, more than 17 years without creativity and without talent.
But when Jack Kirby returned to Marvel in the late 50's Stan Lee became "creative".

Because after decades of having people worshiping him for what he created, he never ever allowed it to go to his head. He never allowed his ego to absorb any of it and that's something that takes a superhero level of fortitude. What a guy.
The “Just Imagine Stan Lee creating DC” books are actually very interesting to read. I know that nobody likes it but I personally enjoy the idea of the man himself reimagining the iconic heroes in the DC universe in his own way.
My favorite versions he did are the Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Shazam

If I was like stan Lee himself the possibilities of the superheroes animated shows and motion pictures would be a combination of DC and marvel with a blend of old time movies in black and white and color that clearly has a whole lot of thrills.

What a surprise
Superman's power varies depending on who is writing the story. He can be all powerful like in the Silver Age comics for those who like him to be invincible, or he can be vulnerable while still not being a complete pushover like in the DCAU for those who like to see him struggle more. Thus, unlike the majority of public, I find Superman to be a very interesting character. He's my favorite Superhero. He needs more respect. After all, his success is what brought the superhero era to life.
I find it refreshing to hear that people from rival companies were good friends. Also thank you both for two of my favorite superheroes...Batman and Spider-Man 🙂
