It is. There has to be a test before a ruling. If he doesn’t take it then in most cases the court assigns him as the dad even if the test would’ve come back negative

@@thunder8185 that I’m not sure of. I just know from the perspective of a child in the child support issue. I am married and had my child, so no dna needed. But I do believe that if she refuses then child support can’t be determined until a test is done. For example, my dad denied a test on me and the judge said he needed to pay, when I was 12 he wanted a test and the judge denied his request

And the CHILD deserves to know if Dad is really his/her Dad. Even if you don’t want it to ever come up, the child should be able to be with his/her biological father, or know for sure at some point especially if there was ever a doubt (multiple partners esp around the time of conception), at least be comfortable in the presence of his/her alleged father (and of course if it isn’t his/her father, then the child deserves to know WHO IS his/her father)
I mean imagine you never tell the child and you raise your child with this man, later down the road, for health reasons or otherwise, a dna test is done and the child finds out his or her father was never his or her father
Even if the woman didn’t know, if SHE had sex with anyone else even 1-2 months, plus or minus the time was conceived, a test should be done. If she cheated… even worse.
It’s insane how common a man raising a child that he didn’t know wasn’t biologically his actually is

Agreed. It also does a favor for the kids too. Plus it also does a woman a favor too, if the man tries to deny his own kid even when they are the father. My aunt said the father of her baby deny him being the father even if he was the only guy she was with. Years later my cousin grew up with just a single mom and no support from his dad. However, he did pretty good for himself, he open his own success small business and own his own ranch. Guess what his father finally admitted to him that he was actually is father when he was in his 30s. Like he knew he was the father he didn't what to take responsibility.

Sorry, I’m just going to say it: it also holds women accountable, not just men. No one can tell you who to lay down with but making this law will force women to at least be accountable and know who they’re sleeping with and who IS the father without cameras, second hand embarrassment and for the minority that trap good guys into a situation by lying when they KNOW he’s not the father and scarring good men. Let’s be honest, these women exist too and need a reality check just like everyone else. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Thank you someone finally said it. In Many places the judges even deny the father the right to a paternity test just because his name was on the birth certificate to them it's like if the man had accepted to adopt the child even if he didn't know which is beyond messed up for me there should be ZERO Reason to deny a paternity test and if the courts don't want to give it then it should just be straight up done BEFORE he signs that birth certificate which is 99% of the time at birth they already testing the baby for a million other things what's one more test and the most important one at that? If it comes back as his then yay if it doesn't then at least the man has a choice to either leave or choose to adopt and stick around which I'm sure there will be plenty of men who will be happy to do so depending on the relationship and partner they have but regardless it should be equal choice to know not only that but that baby also deserves to know who their real daddies are.

None at all. Is she just disagreeing to add a dissenting voice? Cuz....her argument of stigamatizing the woman by demanding a pat test...is ludicrous. If you're trying to pass a baby off as belonging to someone it doesn't then stigamatization is the natural consequence you bring on yourself. If the baby is the person's you say it is? Where is the stigma? And secondly, some woman's hurt little feelings because she is asked to submit to a pat test does not compare to the tragedy of some poor man paying for years for a child that's not his, a child going thru life under a lie, and a dead beat dad getting away with being irresponsible. Nope. Loni missed the boat completely with this one. I'm an advocate for women because I am one but it doesn't blind me to the foolishness women do sometimes. There is no "support women no matter what" from this corner. Wrong is wrong man or woman.

Agree w/OP. As Adrienne said, if these tests were mandatory/signed into law, then the "stigma" of it would be gone. It (with some time) would no longer be looked at as a question of the mother's fidelity, but rather just a norm. At the end of the day, regardless of couples being in "committed relationships and/or marriages" or not, a paternity test will just confirm who the father is for the multiple reasonings provided all over this comment section (health, heritage, etc.). If no one is stepping out, then it's no big deal and nothing to be worried about....the mother should then have an attitude of "who cares". If the baby daddy is not who is thought to be true and blue, then yeah that would be outing the mother, but that'll be for just a moment compared to the lifetime of the true father knowing, as well as the child.

This isn’t about women or “stigma” it’s about knowing who the father is and letting them know as well. Some women want everything to go their way, the same way men don’t have a say on whether or not a woman gets an abortion is the same way a man should know whether or not the kid is his whether they decide to be present or not. As a woman I’m sure you’d know if you’ve been sleeping with other people or not, but there are a ton of extenuating circumstances like a drunken one nighter where you think you used a condom but it broke, or somebody that travels for work and is barely in the same state or someone sleeping with multiple people but claiming to know the baby is someone specifically cause they just know. Loni is missing the point that when it becomes mandatory, the stigma against women goes away. Also there is only a stigma of the woman has more than 1 sexual partner. If a man is going to be paying child support, he has a right to know. And a GOOD woman will want to make SURE the right man is held responsible… both the married and unmarried. The reason a woman would be worried about a “stigma” to begin with is because of her pride. I say, check the pride. Let the man know if the baby is his or not. And if you want to prevent this situation in the future (assuming the bill doesn’t pass) then tread responsibly.

  • @monica8201

A paternity test should absolutely be mandatory because at least 30% of fathers are raising kids that aren't theirs. Also, loni's argument that she is not for mandates bc she doesn't want women to be stigmatized for having multiple partners makes doesn't hold up, bc is the test was mandatory like A said the stigma would go away. Furthermore, there is a reason why there is a stigma for women who have multiple partners bc if and when they get pregnant it sets the child up in a bad position to know who the father is. Plus this mandate would help break generational curses of kids growing up and not knowing who the dad is bc the moment they're born they would know for sure who both parents are.

That can cause so much pain for that man and his family that were involved in the child’s life. Cause in some situations things will never be the same after that information is revealed. My mom was SO AFRAID that she could run into a guy, fall in love with him, marry and even procreate with him, only to find out that he is her close biological relative. Now, that would be very detrimental to the genetic health of her children, too similar DNAs have a tendency of increasing the probability of an error.
And for that reason, my mom left her hometown and married to my dad who lived and grew up in another part of the country.
And I lived in my father's hometown, then abroad, then I moved to my mother's hometown. And I have three kids. I am also afraid of the same risk, because we still don't know who my mother's father is. I must also teach my children to be cautious and to find their sexual partners from out of town, the farther the better.

Yes DNA test should be mandatory. I was the child in the situation told one thing and that this one particular person was my father and come to find out AFTER doing AncestryDNA, my father is someone else that my mother completely forgot to mention. Women…if you’re sleeping with multiple people and you DECIDE to bring a child into that situation, at least have the decency to tell your child and the potential sexual partners that they may be a father. It’s unfair, selfish and trifling for any woman to think it’s okay to not know who got her pregnant. If you’re that ashamed then don’t go through with the situation at all. It’s stupid and does damage to kids even as adults. It took me 28 years to find out the truth and that’s embarrassing and says a lot about the mother than anything else.

Why is Loni acting like some women don’t have multiple sexual partners in the same time frame? If you’re sure it’s his baby just take the test.
Of course there are lames who will demand a test and use that to be controlling, manipulative, and condescending but it actually makes it less stigmatizing if everyone takes the test across the board. And it keeps men from not taking care of their kids because of the “that ain’t my baby excuse”

  • @koolerman4443
    @koolerman4443 2 роки тому +27

I think what Loni is implying is that the mother would feel threatened about who the father could really be. So they choose the candidate with the most stability cuz it saves them a lot of trouble. Not saying its the right thing to do, but a single mother with a baby daddy that is unemployed and a dud is not an easy life. Again, i dont think Loni was saying she was right. Also the stigma part about women sleeping with multiple men aint a good excuse like tf? Thats on you, it aint a stigma if its true

The trauma to the kids is just so unnecessary #protectthechildren. In my country, we have universal health coverage, so my main concern would be if it will be at an extra cost to the mother.

There have been so many cases in the show where women know who the father of the baby is and they try to pinned it on someone else. The baby sometimes looks like the said "father" and guess what DNA test proves them wrong. While there have been so many cases were men still denied the baby even if DNA test proven they r true atleast now they r forced to pay child support. Plus there no stigma on it. Its like l u have to take paternity test on live TV.

I felt insulted...but after thinking about it. A lot of men have been looking after kids that aren't theirs and I KNOW my son is mine because I carried and gave birth to him but really a man can't be sure. As loyal as I've been he can't be 100% certain of that so afterwards I asked him if he wanted a paternity test and he still said no and it's never been mentioned again.

The fact you had the audacity to get offended only thinking of yourself shows your lack of humility and how selfish you are.
30% of DNA test come back negative and in some states it's 40% mind you this data didn't include women that cheated but passed the DNA test so so this means that modern women cheat anywhere between 30-50%
And you have the audacity to get offended!!? This isn't about you!!men and kids should have the basic right to know . Women that are against it are a prime example of how disgustingly common machiavellianism is among modern women ever since women's sexual liberation due to the fact women's mental stability and ability to pair bond gets tarnished or permanently damaged the higher her body count.
Machiavellianism in psychology refers to a personality trait which sees a person so focused on their own interests they will manipulate, deceive, and exploit others to achieve their goals. Machiavellianism is one of the traits in what is called the 'Dark Triad', the other two being narcissism and psychopathy.
This is why only women are notoriously known to not take accountability, severely lacking humility and empathy towards men.
You don't think it's crazy that women say " that they'll leave if their boyfriend/husband asks for a DNA test "
So women would rather deprived the children out of a father than take accountability?
This is expected of narcissism they don't have a conscience not capable of true love not even their own children, modern women will manipulate and gaslight a situation even at the detriment of their own children
But hey " look at me I'm a modern woman I'm offended " rights for me but not for thee

I wouldn’t mind it being mandatory. Wouldn’t you want your sons to know that their children are their children without a doubt. I doubt it will happen because the government wants you to take care of anybody’s baby before they have to from what I hear. There have been cases where ex boyfriends who played “fatherly roles” have been taken to court to pay child support. Apparently it’s quite common in Canada to have to pay for a child that isn’t yours. Would this be yet another reason not to date single mothers?
I know I went a little off subject but just explaining why it won’t happen.

I think having a law is important for the children (emotionally and medically), will maybe make people be more responsible when having sex with multiple people and insure that a man is not falsely taking care of a child that's not his. It only stigmatizes women if they are sleeping around. I agree there should be a law for sure, to reduce confusion and harm in the future.

Who's paying for the mandatory tests? Not me, not my taxes. Why should my husband and I be compelled to pay just because other couples have trust issues? We're not the ones with paternity doubt. If my taxes pay for every newborn to be paternity tested, then at least keep a database of everyone's DNA to help solve future crimes; help DNA match future fathers with their children; or use that data for improving healthcare and medical technology. Save me taxpayer money in SOME way.

I think not 100% I think they sell them over the counter. They are 99% accurate. I think there also free programs or figure out yourself due if u paid attention in biology class when they taught generics. For example u just have to know ur blood type and the baby blood type to know if it's true. I guess the whole issue is that there been situations were guys wanted to take the test and the woman has refuse or its the other way around. Even if they are willing to pay for it.

    • @ec6621
      @ec6621 2 роки тому

@@sailorsister211 yes blood type can exclude paternity but not determine paternity. My issue is that compulsory tests for everyone benefits ONLY the father. If my husband and I are going to be made to pay for a test we didn't ask for, at least let us benefit from it in another way. If the child needs financial support & uses public assistance, we taxpayers end up with the bill of both finding the correct father AND supporting the child in the meantime.
