@@brad1179 your right it is not the short a as in dale it is the long a as in Dallas.. I haven't heard and northwesterners use the short a.. if they ever do I will cuff 'em in the back of the head and tell them to learn to speak english.. ;-) Carry on brother!

The Dalles is pronounced "dowels"
And Bonneville is pronounced Bonn a ville.
not to the resident for 70 years.. Dalles is how every one I know says it..

Im from oregon that is how i have always heard it pronounced.
