Very interesting looking livebearer. Have never seen it in our LFS's or even heard of it until this video. Going to explore this species for sure and where to find it.
Gonna have to make it to one of the next fish swaps in the Quad Cities definitely want some of these beauties!!! Was bummed to see this video and then find out you were literally gonna be there today and I couldn't make the time last min. I'll be more prepared next time!
With my only extra tank being a quarantine I’m assuming I will eventually run out of room in my display 20 tank and have to find somewhere to house the baby fish or just let it go and let nature run it’s course? I’d like to try these fish for sure! Thank you!
When it comes to feeding pleco fry now that I’ve got all these tanks with these little tiny baby plecos everywhere. How to go about feeding the fry and how do increase the success rate of having more than just a few that grow out? The first time my leopard sailfin had babies I think I only ended with 10 or 12 of them. But when I first start out I have between 30-40 and maybe more. But I’d like to be able to grow out a good number of them so that eventually I could maybe sell them at a fish swap. But In one tank I’ve noticed the more I feed the higher number of trumpet snails I end up with. But I definitely don’t wanna under feed. And when it comes to food I mainly feed the repashy soilent green. But they’re fry, so what else could I be feeding them? And what helps with the numbers. Unfortunately the brichardis I started out with 40-50 but now I’ve only got 6 of them. And I definitely don’t want that to happen to my sailfin plecos.
A quick online search for availability in Canada shows me some online sellers offering the Humpacked Limia (Limia Nigrofasciata), very similar with a humped back in the males. Seem to come from same area in Haiti.
My LFS is trying to get some of these guys in for me right now. They are gonna look great with a group of SAEs and white skirt tetras. On a side note, do you guys think these would do well with Geophagus Steindacheri?
Is there another species with the same common name? I have a school I bought at a fish fair. They do not have the yellow but do have the vertical bars.
Hey Prime Time Aquatic i has a question, can you keep an Scarlet Badis, an Sparkling Gourami, an Pygmy SunFish, and an female Pea Puffer in a 20 gallon long heavily planted tank with alot hiding spot so will it be ok ?
That puffer will probably be a tank boss and have the rest constantly stressed out. BUT, some people have had decent luck with them in a community tank.
🤔 Let's be honest ? Do you think 3 Cardinal Tetras, 7 Amber tetras , 1 lepard cory and 1 Beta is too much for a 10 gallon ? Is it time to move up cause I can't keep nitrates down ? After 50 % water change Nitrates still runs around 30 . 🤔 Is this OK ? Everything else test fine .🤔😕
Stocking isn’t too bad for the tank. Nitrates aren’t out of control, but larger water changes should be able to get them down. If you moved to a 20 gallon you could add more cardinals and Cory cats, which would look cool though! 😀
Enjoyable close up of the fish....are they similar to the trout looking fish that are also live bearers that produce larger fry but only every 60 days or so & in smaller populations? I believe select aquatics Carrie's these...You guys always provide great content!!!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I know goodeids can intermix and guppies and mollies or platys (I forget) so thinking the poecillia family could be the same! Great video btw, I love stocking- the Greg Sage special!
Hey guys I would like some help/advice on my aquarium I have some weird furry dark balls growing on certain things. I've posted a clip on my channel showing it. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated thanks 👍

I’m glad you did a close-up. They’re gorgeous! WHY have I never heard of these??? Thanks Prime Time!!! 🐟
Awesome video. I was trying to downsize my collection, but this fish has just changed things.
They can do that :-)
The colors make me think of tiny small mouth bass. Very cool little fish. Good choice man!
I think this species is so pretty. I love the bar pattern down their sides. Yours look very healthy and happy 😊
That's what I like about them too!
Interesting fish! Thanks for sharing ☺️

See you in the fall!
What cool little fish! I’d like to get some!
Those are gorgeous fish! I am on the lookout for these now... LOL
Cool little fish!
These guys look amazing, another live nearer to add to the collection hopefully
Wow amazing fish
Cherry barbs and tiger limmia. Love that idea.
I’ve been wanting to try either these or the nigrofasciata. Cool little fish!
Both are cool!
They are lovely little fish! I have hard water too, and it lends so well to livebearer's health. Gotta see if I can find these locally!!
These are my favorite also. They are my best seller every year. Awesome fish 👍👍👍
Love these, and Teddy bear tigers too. So cool to watch them and to see the Itty bitty babies.
👍❤️👍
These look cool! 😊
very nice fish. i have been looking for a couple long fin green dragons seem very hard to find
Community poll sent me here😉
Woohoo!
Me too! 😁
I'm partial to Yucatan Mollies(Poecilia Velifera), but you have definitely opened my mind to other possibilities😊.
I like those too!
Nice fish!

Wow so beautiful where Can I order some since I don’t live near Chicago to get them from you guys
Maybe Aquabid?

Those are cool fish too!
Neat! How do you think they will do with zebra danio, and shrimp?
The danio will be ok - the limia will eat the baby shrimp.
Ive been trying to find these guys in the NorCal area forever and I still haven't had any luck! Even online these guys are out of stock everywhere.
Maybe Aquabid?
Looks like platy 🙂
My LFS is trying to get some of these guys in for me right now. They are gonna look great with a group of SAEs and white skirt tetras. On a side note, do you guys think these would do well with Geophagus Steindacheri?
The geos would probably eat these guys if they’re on the smaller side?
Hi!!..just curious, will they interbreed with my guppies??
I doubt it?
Amazing, any idea where to buy these?
We bring them to our local swaps. They should be easy to find online - Aquabid?
I love this fish! And video. I called flip aquatic and they said they have never carried the “tiger limia “ I can’t find anyone who does
Maybe Aquabid?
Is there another species with the same common name? I have a school I bought at a fish fair. They do not have the yellow but do have the vertical bars.
No, but the humpback limia are similar
can cross breed with guppies although unlikey just saying best not to mix if your line/breeding a guppy strain
What can these guys hybridize with? I keep a lot of live bearers and would rather keep the crossable ones separate lol
That’s a great question. I’m not sure if they hybridize with other live bearers besides other limia?
Beautiful fish kinda looks like a teny tiny bass 😂
Would they compatable with a Betta sorority?
I haven't tried it, but maybe?
I've got a dozen with a solo female betta and a dozen von Rio tetras, three bristle nose, three coreys and everybody gets along
Have a few in my tank I love them
What about a 10 gallon? Is that too small?
Nope - you could do a trio in a 10 gallon
Hey, do you sell the tiger limias
I do, but only at Chicagoland swaps.
That could wind up being a tough mix?
Where do I find them?
Maybe The Wet Spot or Aquabid?
Wet Spot doesn’t have this specific limia and I live in NC, I’ve been trying to stick with flip for closer shipping and the water

Coloring reminds me of a Bolivian Ram.
Could guppies or platys potentially cross with them?
I doubt it, but I suppose it's possible?
@@PrimeTimeAquatics I know goodeids can intermix and guppies and mollies or platys (I forget) so thinking the poecillia family could be the same! Great video btw, I love stocking- the Greg Sage special!
You don’t see the Limia species in the hobby or fish shops. You see them in the books but never the shops.
I got some from a local breeder at my local aquarium club
KJE Aquatics has them listed for sale.
THESE FISH CAN BE PUT WITH TETRAS ????
Sure
Hey guys I would like some help/advice on my aquarium I have some weird furry dark balls growing on certain things.
I've posted a clip on my channel showing it. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated thanks 👍
Never heard of them? Not popular or unavailable in Canada
Ya, they aren’t as popular as other fish.
