This is brilliance. What a fun and deep song. They say the Kinks and other bands, perhaps Flamin' Groovies are the most under-rated bands. That's BS. This band is first rate. I had a coworker for years long ago who was older than me and all cared about was the Rolling Stones. And I told him about the Pretty Things and The birds and he didn't care one bit It was all about the Rolling Stones and he had a car plate that said RRar8. Like what the hell. The rolling stones are great. Fuck off. Listen to the Pretty Things and The Birds and he didn't even want to know about them. Pretty Things are inspirational. They say the Kinks are under-rated. No, they are acknowledged and they are my favorite band. But the Pretty Things need to up there in our top five.
Trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’ Trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’ tripping ! Mr. L they love your paintings Nice greens, nice reds, nice blues Does this show us your talent Or is it something that you use ? Are you tripping, mister ? Well, I won't ask you more than twice Are you tripping, mister ? Whatever it is it’s nice. Trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’ tripping ! Everybody thinks that the books you write Mr. S are really neat They say you have more perception With every one you complete Are you tripping, mister ? I won't ask you more than twice Are you tripping, mister ? Whatever it is it’s nice. Trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’ tripping ! (Solo) Trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’trip’ tripping ! The records you make, Mr. D., are strange Some folks even find 'em confusin' They say it's the sunshine that lights you up Could it be the methedrine you're usin'? Are you tripping, Mr. D.? Tripping - The Pretty Things [England] - 1967 - "For all you DEAD-HEADS. Very good soft Greatful Dead-esque vocals, beat. " - Latest Writs The Best Of: Greatest Hits (Snapper Music)-2000.
Yeah but The Beatles released at least seven or eight superb albums, and heaps more good songs. And personally i'd put quite a few albums above SF Sorrow. Nursery Cryme, Stormcock, Lark's Tongues in Aspic, Moontan, Pampered Menial, Forver Changes, After bathing at Baxter's, Hark! The Village Wait... No matter. The Pretties were a great band and SF Sorrow is one of the classics, that's all that matters. All else is personal taste. Parachute however is an absolute classic too.Besides, Sorrow was released 17 months after Pepper, and that was a very long time in the late 60s.
dude listen to the lyrics...."they say you have more perception with every one you complete". Its about tripping on drugs. "you see the word trip really meant money" trip=money Are you moneying mister? if you replace tripping with money in the song it makes no fucking sense
according to this dude on their "LSD" vid on here, this song would not actually be about tripping, you see the word trip really meant money and they just wanted money really bad so they said trippin thru this whole song. It was about money not tripping. Look at the highest voted comment on their song entitled: "LSD"
Lets all listen to some idiot on comments section, he starts first verse off with Mr L and hints at Timothy Leary and his idea that you don't need to take Acid to Trip. Second verse he mentions Mr S not sure who he's talking about there, then lastly he mentions Mr D then verses about Donavon most likely because he tried to tell the media he didn't take Drugs but quite clearly he did lol. Anyway Mr L, Mr S and Mr D its not Rocket Surgery.
Great song. What a terrific band they were.

Seriously -- Greatest band ever? cf, "SF Sorrow" - Greatest album ever? Certainly blows Sgt Pepper away - an d both were released at same time.
I'd rather listen to "SF Sorrow' than any Beatles record.

Their song LSD is about money, but this one is about LSD. I am sorry, but you did not get the message on this one!
