    Gotta respect Vargas. By like 23-24 he had already fought Trinidad, De la Hoya, winky, Campas, Quartey. He was a warrior 🥊

      100% 👍 The people around him kinda screwed his career though bc he definitely wasn't ready for most of those guys! (23/24 is extremely young to be facing the best of the best..
      Vargas was one of my favorite fighters back then!! (Warrior 💯)..
      Tbh he was lacking a bit in overall skills but he sure was a DOG!!
      THX for the entertaining fights and build ups El Feroz!!!

      No doubt,management did him dirty thou.
      They did not build him up as They could have. Fought killers way too soon....a true warrior that deserved the right to make 10 times more money that What he ended up making. Boxing is a dirty and roothless sport.

      I think HBO just wanted to paint it as a wholesome story Fernándo really hated his stepfather apparently he didn’t treat him well. He’s always referred to him as a his “Maget Stepfather” he shows a lot of love to his trainer Big G Eduardo Garcia

    Fernando was so talented and had a bright future however the fighters he was put up with were not from his generation he wasn’t ready for them but give him credit in todays competition they would of fed him those fighters as old defeated fighter that presented no threat to him to build his fame maybe Vargas’s career serves as examples to promoters on why hold back fighters take care of them and avoid challenges in they’re wary years

      From what people in Oxnard who knew him tell me, he was an 805 clown as well. I met and trained with his sons when they were in camp. They were scumbags, except Amado, surprisingly he was the only respectful one to our team.

      @rps8400 3 місяці тому

      @eliseoretro4407 I understand what you're saying. I'm from Oxnard, born and raised, and while he has made his share of mistakes and probably has regrets, like we all do, that doesn't mean he didn't do something legendary for the town with his Olympic and boxing glory. Peace be with you, Bro.

    Unfortunally, his management threw him to the lions at an early age and received career ending beatdowns, he was done by the age of 27. He would had lasted a bit more and made more money in the game if his management would have picked the right fights for him!

    Vargas was the guy they used to make the TOP look good! He was the one who would take any fight even if he lacked skills and talent!! Boxing still creates these fighters and uses them!! He wasn’t anything special but than again he wasn’t supposed to me! Just used to promote talented fighters! They still do this…, build up a Rollie then feed them to a talent!!

    Too much too soon. His fight with Trinidad damn near finished him. But prior to that he took a lot of damage (in victory) from Ike Quartey. But the punishment he suffered from Trinidad was career changing. Similar but not as severe as what Julio Cesar Chavez did to Meldrick Taylor.

  • @rickymicky272
