What are the chances in 10 years or whenever these batteries are no longer fit to power a car that the elements used in them will still be relevant to the current new battery technology they have to compete with? General motors, Tesla and Nissan have already pledged to make batteries cobalt free. Nickle will be the next element to eliminate.
Q-Tips have better quality control than Tesla. On top of the exploitation of workers to mine EV battery metals, like lithium, nickel, cobalt, it's "feel good" legislation to the Ecocrats and their green cult and their tiny carbon footprints. But, generating all that electricity (once millions of charging stations are built while ignoring the main infrastructure like we do in the US ) comes from fossil fuels. Or nuclear. NOT solar. @@francescobirritta6245 I take it this is in response to your comment? Have you ever been to an oil REFINERY? An "Oil field" is inherent to oil wells. Collecting crude oil from the ground. The refinery takes the crude oil from the well (fields) and chemically transforms the crude oil from the "field" into petroleum products AT A REFINERY. Products such as gasoline. Most importantly, to change crude oil (like you saw from your little visit to the oil "field"), petroleum products are synthesized at a REFINERY for use as fuels for transportation (gasoline), heating, and generating electricity to transform from the crude, and concurrently, fossil fuels are used to power generators which produce electricity. Wind, solar, hydro is not sufficient to power the massive grid extensions and building to supply the hundreds of thousands of charging stations needed for EV's. It will take decades. Unless everyone wants nuclear power. Again, stupidity at its best. Educate yourself.

I've heard of this being a common thing. - Electrical issues. That sucks and is scary. - "Looks like something from the Apple store." Yep. A bit too look-alike for my taste. I want some individuality in my vehicles. From me: - I don't want to be tracked and potentially controlled to that degree. - I don't want to be that dependent on the electrical grid. Disagree: - Ugly from the front: Nope. Subjective. - The "turbine wheels" are for aerodynamics. They extend range.
Over the air mods are another problem. If they can tune them remotely, they can detune them remotely all in the name of whatever crisis the gov comes up with.

This video was 100% spot on. I am not against EVs but they don't tell you the full story. 1. Fossil fuels are used to create the electricty used to charge EVs. 2. Lithium mines devastate the land and area - that never recovers. 3. It cost more to manufacture and buy an EV vs combustion engine vehicles. 4. Infrastructure is no where near what it needs to be..Just ask California 🤣🤣. Range needs to better too.
Electric cars are not the answer. There needs to be competition with all the energy companies solar, electric, hydrogen, hybrid, and ICE. Pick the best sustainable long term alternative and go all in period.

I owned my 2022 Tesla model Y for just about a year (purchased November 2021) and all of these criticisms are valid. I had a headlight go bad, a fog light get full with condensation, a door handle stopped working, days where the blinker or screen would not work, days where the GPS would not navigate me anywhere other than to the same supercharger over and over, and many more frustrating issues like rattles and squeaks and my a-pillar popping off and all the wires coming out. I traded it in for a BMW x5 45e, which is insanely better build quality. As if pedestrians don't have it bad enough in most places, now you get big extra heavy, extra silent EVs cruising around. Another environmental issue (and cost to society) is down to this weight: road wear. The amount of damage a vehicle does to the road surface goes up rapidly with the weight of that vehicle- if everyone jumps in an EV, what will happen to roads? What about all the emissions created in resurfacing constantly and the costs (not to mention inconvenience of all the extra road works) I can see this becoming a massive problem in the future If you want to save the environmentand money, just get a bike, you'll get fit at the same time too- you can even get an e-cargo bike for errands. The solution to reduce transportation emissions is in infrastructure- not trying to make cars less polluting- pedestrians, cyclists and public transport need to be prioritized to reduce the need for people to commute to work and run all their errands in a car! Keep the car for long journeys or for fun! Who likes traffic anyway? Less cars on the road would make driving more fun too, even if you reduce the width and number of lanes (inly makes driving ore engauging) car dependency is the problem- EVs are just perpetuating that problem by allowing people to feel better about taking their car with them everywhere they go. We should reduce the miles driven and free those who hate driving or struggle to afford it from having to do it at all in most places. That is good for those who still need cars, those who just love cars and those who don't have cars! Everyonec wins.
I am not a Tesla owner but most owners have no problems with Tesla. 8 years of warranty on the battery so that should not be a problem either. To be honest as a car guy I hate to bash other cars.

He mostly talked about cosmetics which doesn’t operate the car so he hasn’t even gotten started bashing Telsa yet. I can point out a laundry list of issues that would cost Telsa owners a fortune to resolve. I personally know one gentleman who owns a Tesla and the only reason that he owns one is because he is close enough to walk to work and hardly ever has much need to drive. This gentleman also is an older, elderly gentleman who stays local so the car doesn’t get that much mileage or use. For this individual, the Tesla is for now practical. You having no problems at this point is irrelevant, it means absolutely nothing! The point is not about the immediate time, it’s about the practicality of repairing the car when problems do arrive. When it does, you will be paying out the nose for repairs and maybe wiped out bank account as well behind on all your bills. The cost of a tech, parts, the car is all electric so finding the source is not going to be easy, there is so many problems that make that car impractical and ridiculously expensive to keep. It doesn’t matter that is it fine at this point, it’s when it does hit the fan, It WILL really hit the fan!! You will be changing your mind
thanks for the review. I could care less how a car looks. I only care about total cost of ownership. The average price of a new sedan is $30,000 (but many people drive used vehicles that cost much less then 30K). Tesla model 3 costs over $50,000. I spend about $30 a week on gas. So buying a Tesla just makes no sense to me. If you are spending $40,000 or more for a gas powered sedan and driving a lot of miles per year, then perhaps you might save some money owning a Tesla (but that is a select segment of the market, people who will spend $40,000 a year or more on a Sedan, are high income bracket or young people that live at home with their parents). And now a lot of people are working from home, at least part of the week, and driving a lot less miles. In the past 3 years I drove less then 2,000 miles a year.
it was way cheaper for me to put a brand new transmission in my 18 year old car than buy even a newer used car. Screw electrics that cost a lot and suck!
Heavy metals?? Possibly nickel qualifies but not lithium, iron, phosphate or graphite. The batteries will be endlessly recycled, treated as extremely high grade ore. Check Redwood Materials about that. I question they can profit off the iron or graphite recycling but certainly Li and Ni. (Tesla not using cobalt anymore) Other than very old batt packs, say 250 miles or more and older versions, failure is rare and they are getting cheaper all the time. LFP batts are becoming common and they should last well over 1 million miles before losing some 25% capacity, then they can serve another decade or two repurposed as stationary storage before recyc. LFPs have lower energy density/range but many folks prefer them for longevity and they like full 100% charging.
But over time, this technology will improve. Batteries will go much farther on a charge, come down in price, and be earth-friendly at disposal time. Old-schoolers may not always like it, but EVs are here to stay. Should we really believe people will be driving gasoline-powered vehicles in 50 years? (But how an airliner will fly on batteries is a different story.)
That’s fair and I am a firm believer in, live and let live so we should all have options and not be mandated. The problem is this tech is quite expensive and paying luxury car money for an entry level EV is not an option for many.
Yes, you really should believe. I do. Until the engineers take care to really insulate the EVs’ cockpits from EM fields being generated and stop selling a product exploiting the poorest of the poor for mining of rare metals as eco, green and hip, there’s not one thing I’m sold on with this phony climate saving novelty. Oil and IC engines are bound to hang in there for a while longer - especially everywhere where reliability (= common sense) is key.

These Cars are ridiculously overpriced

I live in CT and drive my dual motor tesla through snow, ice, and extreme cold . Never had an issue
Gonna have to agree here. Model Y's look silly as hell. It wouldn't matter how good it was, I wouldn't buy one just based on the looks alone.
Thanks and I agree, just awkward . I little wider at the base and a little compressed on top and it would be Ok
And I'm hearing about insurance companies limiting coverage..
Quality doesn't come to mind on these.
That’s true Thomas, quality does not feel like the theme in general. If these cars were 15 grand then it would feel right but for now…..
Wrong!!
Hybrid is more suited for Alberta's weather. Trust me -40 C takes a huge toll on batteries.
I agree. These Tesla lovers clearly do not live in the North. If batteries were not impacted by cold then that’s a different story.
Tesla has jumped the shark. These cars suck.
Hours on end of charging?? Was the charger broke?
I thought the acceleration would be the one thing you'd like. For all the other stuff you're right. Even people who love Tesla say the same. But they forgive Tesla because they love their car.
I do love the acceleration and the dynamic breaking

I’m happy to hear that you enjoy your car but there are no lies. Truth is hard to hear, especially when it’s digging deep in your wallet but it’s not a lie. You can’t put emotions over reality. We get our hearts set on something, it’s human nature to look for any lame excuse to justify the choices, even if they are trivial or irrelevant. I hope your decision continues to work out for you. Obviously, you do have maintenance cost, there is no motor but the axles and the brakes will still obviously need maintenance as they are being used. You don’t want to get carried away and end up neglecting those other moving parts
Good to see a mainstream car UA-camr not being afraid to tell the truth about ghastly Teslas.
Thanks
I agree about your following comments:
- "Frumpy" BUT, to be fair, its highly practical for aerodynamics and head room. Think sport utility. The Y is meant for families.
- Fit & finish. I've heard of this being a common thing.
- Electrical issues. That sucks and is scary.
- "Looks like something from the Apple store." Yep. A bit too look-alike for my taste. I want some individuality in my vehicles.
From me:
- I don't want to be tracked and potentially controlled to that degree.
- I don't want to be that dependent on the electrical grid.
Disagree:
- Ugly from the front: Nope. Subjective.
- The "turbine wheels" are for aerodynamics. They extend range.
Thanks and agree on your points
Nice to see a true car enthusiast speak the truth. All these fake “car guys” rave about Tesla’s and all they can speak to is acceleration

You are definitely on the money and yes, things are not ready to go. Also, what’s with the mandates, give people choice, that’s the best way
The amount of electricity used to charge up at night is signifcantly more than all other household electricity usage combined.
Tesla recommends not taking the car to a car wash.

Admittedly I do miss the car, but for the same price as the x5 I could not justify the monthly payment for something that was having more issues than the 150k mileage Nissan I traded in for it 🤦🏻♂️

Come on man, it looks like a premature baby.
Absolutely can’t hear them coming
I"m quite sure about that.
We're never ready. We don't want to be either!

Your message is disrespectful and offensive. I will report it as well as ask Exotic CAR PLAY PLACE to do the same. It’s good that so far, you have had good luck with your car but there are no lies! There is a GREAT number of cars that were designed with flaws that are going to be problematic for the owners down the road, Telsa is absolutely no exception.
(Tesla not using cobalt anymore)
Other than very old batt packs, say 250 miles or more and older versions, failure is rare and they are getting cheaper all the time. LFP batts are becoming common and they should last well over 1 million miles before losing some 25% capacity, then they can serve another decade or two repurposed as stationary storage before recyc. LFPs have lower energy density/range but many folks prefer them for longevity and they like full 100% charging.
Thanks for sharing
finally someone thats done some homework. thanks for saying that. people just love to be decieved i guess.
@@ECPP U.S. tax credits of up to $7500 on new and $4000 for used on certain EVs have somewhat helped their sales. Any such tax credits in Canada?
Yes, you really should believe. I do. Until the engineers take care to really insulate the EVs’ cockpits from EM fields being generated and stop selling a product exploiting the poorest of the poor for mining of rare metals as eco, green and hip, there’s not one thing I’m sold on with this phony climate saving novelty. Oil and IC engines are bound to hang in there for a while longer - especially everywhere where reliability (= common sense) is key.
Don’t have a Tesla. This seems like satire more than an objective review on many different levels.
