You’re crushing it! Cheers to inspiring others!!
2 quick tips to follow up on your solid recs:
    1. Get fitted for running shoes at a running store. Having your gait analyzed and getting shoes to counteract anything wonky can help you prevent injury or recover from one!
    2. Look up your goal pace and the coordinating BPM. Then take that number to Spotify or to the internet in general for great playlists to keep you ticking along at your goal pace! Life. Changing. Esp when you’re trying to bust through a plateau or aiming for any goal really.

I think that you ARE a runner, and so is everyone else who just goes out and enjoys it. The problem is when you let other people convince you that you are not good enough. Running tip (for women): also invest in a good, supportive bra :-)

Exactly. It's like, anyone who likes running and does it often is a runner. What's the big deal with calling yourself a "runner"

I think it’s absolutely normal to run to the beat. I do this as well. There’s an app called Runkeeper and when you connect it to Spotify and pick sports dedicated playlist, it picks songs whose beat matches your steps. It’s great 👍🏻

I always listen to podcast or audio books while I'm running because I hate it to match my pace to the beat of a song :D The advantage is that I do not focus on running so much. I just run. I started from 0 exactly one year ago, now I run 9 km. I use the app 10 k Runner, it really helped me to get started because I was an absolute beginner and it guides you through interval runs

This was such a great video! I resonated with lots you said - there is apparently a sweet spot of beats per minute in a song for running :). I also know for me it is definitely a mind over matter thing - the mind wants to give up long before the body does. One tip my husband gave me which weirdly works is when you start to feel a bit tired and need to stop, you pretend you have invisible walking poles ( is that what they are called? What hikers use) in my hands and it mentally makes me feel like a weight is lifted and helps me keep running! Sorta spring me along 😂. I also like to think that no matter how ridiculous I look, rather than laughing at me I hope I am making people think “she’s good, I need to go do that” haha

For something fun to try, I like the Zombies, Run app. Basically there’s a background story where there’s a zombie apocalypse, but you have your music running in between the story “parts.”

no 1 is get your gait assessed and buy the right trainers for you. Go to a proper running shop and they will let you try a load of trainers on a treadmill and film your feet so you know which shoes support you in the places you need to it. Also a bra.

Such a great, descriptive video! Makes me want to get out again, I've tried a few times but never got past the 2nd run on the Coach to 5k app. Can you let me know whether your green jumper is like a sage colour like it looks on screen or more like a khaki green?

Have you read Bella Mackie‘s book Jog On? I think you would really enjoy/maybe even resonate with it!
I’ve always had a bit of a fantasy of being a runner, it must be such a great thing to be able to do! At the moment I get out of breath from a light 2 minute jog, but it’s one of my goals for this year.
Also, if you haven’t tried it, Kala Namak Salt (Indian black salt) gives food a really eggy flavour, it‘s awesome in tofu scramble or on avocado toast!

I recognize my self so much in what you are saying. :) especially about the lipbalm and how important the music is. For some reason I can't stand the sound of my own footsteps. I'm not a runner, instead I'll do quick walks because that suites me better. In my play list I vary fast music that give me a quick tempo and "slower" songs (like Bruce Springsteen Glory days) to get a longer step. Love your videos =D

I use an app called "aaptiv" which is the same thing as couch to 5k in the sense someone is talking you through it telling you what to do. you click on running outside and they have different levels of fitness and it also comes w the music the instructor has picked. only thing is you have to pay, but totally worth it. I personally love the treadmill and I use apptiv for the treadmill. good luck!

Keep whatever you are bringing along down to a minimum, it'll just get in the way. There are belt bags and small backpacks specifically for running, I personally prefer those loads over things like armbands. As for water bottles: I've seen many runners just hold them!

I really wish you'd stop using the word vegan in your titles/videos. You eat plant-based, not vegan, if you were vegan you wouldn't buy makeup with animal products in, makeup that's been tasted on animals or buy items made of suede or leather all of which you regularly do. I get that you eat mostly plant based which is GREAT, so just say that.

    • @icovetthee
      @icovetthee  5 років тому +3

I used ‘vegan’ in the title here, as although I do not define myself as one for the reasons you’ve detailed, the food I’m making and eating in this video is still technically vegan, and using this word in the title makes it more discoverable for those looking for vegan food inspiration.
