- Archaeologists are excavating slave quarters at James Madison's Montpelier estate in a four-year project supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The estate of the fourth president was maintained by scores of enslaved African-Americans. Archaeology is revealing how they lived.

The way Kat Imhoff talks about the families there you would think she is talking about a happy community, not slaves. She talks about the children, grandmothers etc like a happy scenario
And on top of that Sandra, what's with music and laughter? Nothing comedic nor nonchalant about this. Never ceases to amaze me how some people take our History and that era so lightly. Stay safe and well my friend.
A slave community? No, this was a prison camp. They did not "invest" in glass windows? Really? These people may be archaeologists but they are very insensitive and ignorant to the horrors of slavery. Its almost as if they are desecrating a cemetery.
@@Caramel923 Totally agree with you @ K Luv. Slavery was and is something to not take lightly. Excavate or whatever, but this was a place where vile and grave injustices was done to another human being. No doubt whippings, hunger, abuse of different situations and kinds took place on this spot and area. So I agree with @K Luv. Archeologists realize where you are and what you are touching. 100% agree, be more respectful of the things that happened here, people suffered and died and were held captive, it was not a glorious life.

I feel all plantations should be destroyed all over the south were slaves were tortured, rape, lynched, and sold like cattle. Why is any of this pass history being recognized as monumental or even honored. Where there was habitual, inhumane, torture, working for no pay in America. Plantations should not be memorialized, all should be destroyed.
