Thanks Mary. I'm glad I could save it from total disaster. I will definitely make this top again with the ruffles. Lots of fun! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
"It screams Hospital Gown." LOLOLOL!!!! 😆🤣😂 You cracked me up! Your top came out very cute! If you found some blue fabric the same color as the bottom of the dress, shorts or a casual skirt would really pull out the blue in the flowers. Great video, Grace!
Thanks Leanne. It worked out and I plan to make tops more just like it! I'm also determined to make the dress but in the right fabric! Thanks for watching.
Grace, you really made lemonade out of a lemon. Cute top. Love the ruffles. You were right when you said the dress looked like a hospital gown. I laughed out loud. Love your videos.
Great save! Really like the ruffles. I think I need to get a ruffler foot for my serger. I'm pretty sure I have that pattern so will have to give it a try.
I made a purse and wallet from the same fabric as your window valence! Love it. Have you done a sewing room tour? If not, might you? It looks beautiful. Your rotary cutters are hanging on the cutest dress forms. I agree that dress didn’t go well, but the top is killer! What a save.
Hi Susan, I got that fabric for my window valence from Fabric.com and made the valances and also my ironboard cover. I have not done the sewing room tour yet. I've been ridiculously busy but I plan to do it soon. Hopefully after the sewing Expo. Thanks for the compliment on the save! I actually plan on make more of that top! That hack worked out. Thanks for watching.
Hello Grace! I love to top and the ruffles. The Hobby Lobby fabrics are so pretty. I love that you make bags. That is my true passion! I hope to meet you at the Expo!
Oh how can I meet you Suzette? I would love to meet you there. I will be there on Thursday and Friday. I will also be making another video on bags. Did you see my other bag video?
@@sewlovelywithgrace I’ll be at the Expo from Wednesday to Saturday. I plan to go to the meet up Fri at noon. Are you taking any classes? We could meet on Thursday also. Not sure what your plans are while you’ll be there. I did see all of your bags. They are awesome ❤
Great rescue, that top looks so bright and fresh! I hope you'll be able to rescue the bag in the end. So - are your carrots now cooked? I can't wait to hear about your garden because 1-that's a mystery to me, can't grow anything and 2-this Buckeye sure can't grow anything in Florida! I'll see you at the Expo!
Yes Jen, The carrots are cooked in the pressure canner. I just rinse them in a colander, trim ends where needed and then in a separate pot I boil maple syrup, water and sugar. I add that mixture to the jars along with the carrots. And put them in the canner at 11 pounds of pressure for 30 minutes. Then you can open and enjoy each jar of carrots as a side, in a pot roast, in soups etc. They stay preserved fresh for 5 years or longer. That's another hobby of mine. Thanks for creating this #. It's GENIUS!! I'll definitely see you Friday at noon at the Expo!! Countdown begins. YAY!
Hi Grace. Fabulous save on the dress, the weird thing is, if the dark panel had been at the top I think those two fabrics would have worked. Love the adapted look though with the ruffle. ❤ I'm so sad about the pattern sale as when I get to the US it will be McCalls and I don't generally like their style 😢. Hey Ho, patterns are still cheaper over there anyway. Canning and preserving is just something we don't tend to do over here, what an ingenious way to deal with bulk buy offers. Our veg does tend to be quite cheap though and over here we tend to eat fresh, very little tin veg is consumed. If anything it's frozen if not fresh. I really liked those fabrics, can't wait to get over there with my empty suitcase 😂. Have a lovely weekend ❤xx
Hi Carole, I'm so happy with my ruffle top! I want to make more. I can't wait till the EXPO. You definitely need to stop by Hobby Lobby and JoAnns. They always have lots on sale. Yes, McCalls is my least favorite too. Can't wait to see you! XX
Love the 911 refashion! The ruffles really push it over the top. I went to the pattern sale today and they were out of so many styles that I wanted. I was pretty bummed about how little inventory my JOANN had your carrots look absolutely delicious and what a great idea I love to make freezer jam and freezer meals. Also, when stuff is on sale have a great weekend, sewing lots of cute stuff.❤❤!
Trish, I had to think fast. When my husband saw the dress on Fannie he just shook his head and we both said NO WAY!! So adding the ruffles and making it into a simple top was fun solution. Can't wait to meet you at the EXPO!!!
Your top is adorable! The ruffled sleeve is perfect and adds just the right touch. I have never canned carrots, but I did freeze corn on the cob. One of my coworker's husbands is a corn farmer and each year they let anyone come out and pick over their corn crops. I'm still eating the corn I froze from two years ago! Have a great week. :D
Thanks Lara. I'm glad my make didn't turn out to be a total disaster. I'll be making this top again. Yes, I love food preservation canning or freezing. I've frozen meats and vegetables and they are still edible a year later! Thanks for watching. Have a great week too!!!!
I’ve tried so many times to get the Joanns advertisement sent to me. When I fill out the form it always says I’m signed up but it never comes. I also requested it by email and I never get that either! Your shirt turned out so cute! Good job!
Cathy, I went into the Joann store and told the girl at the checkout. She got me on the flyer list. Also, you may want to try a different Joann's. Ask to see if they have your address right in the system. Keep trying. Thanks so much for watching. 💖
Hi Sandra, I just rinsed them with water in a collander and trimmed some ends. Then in a separate pot I boil maple syrup, water, sugar and use that syrup to add to each jar with the carrots. I leave a 1" headspace and debubble before I put the lids and rings on the jars.
Grace you are a sewer and a canner you can do it all. What a great save from that dress you are so impressive.
Thanks Mary. I'm glad I could save it from total disaster. I will definitely make this top again with the ruffles. Lots of fun! Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
Very cute top. Nice save.
Norma, Thank you! 😊
So fresh and pretty, especially worn with white.
Yes, Sandra, I love the top now! Thanks for watching.
What a gorgeous dress and it looks beautiful on you! Good job! I hope you had fun on your trip!
Thank you Cathy! I did have a great time. Thanks for watching. 🥰
I love it as a top and the ruffle is so cute
Thanks Barb, I didn't want to toss it out so I had to convert it to a top! Thanks for watching. 😃
Finish the matching bag. It will look so cute with the top. The top is very nice.
Hi Evelyn, I will probably make a smaller matching bag. I don't think I'll make the tote. Thanks for watching.

I use my ruffler foot on my serger all the time! It's a must-have and so easy to ruffle with. Thanks for watching!

Love your top! You are fabulous 😍
Oh thank you Jane! I enjoyed seeing you at lunch today. Love you lots!!
Fabric does matter! Every odd ball thing I’ve ever made was a poor fabric choice. I love the pink floral fabric you bought.
So true Aribella! Fabric will make or break the garment. I will make more of the ruffle top though. I love it! Thanks for watching.
You're impressive!
Awww. Thanks Karen. I really appreciate that! I enjoy it.

What did you do to the carrots before you put them in the jars Grace?
