I love that the technician was willing to get on camera and geek out with us!
Who wouldn't geek out. I would die
Also we just bought a new 3.6 acre property with amazing gardens here in Daylesford,Australia. Come visit and tell me what to plant please
It is a great add for his company. Why not.
It was obvious he was a fan of Garden Answers and Laura.
Same - I never imagined finding this subject so interesting and he explained it so well!
Wow!!! I have said for years HGTV has nothing on Aaron and Laura. The camera work and production quality on this video is outstanding. So informative and interesting. Love this channel so much. Thank you for bringing us along.
Don't know wht it 's even called home and garden, they don't have any gardening shows !!
I was thinking the same thing when we were able to see the drone shot of the drone! 😁
This was an excellent video in every sense!!!
I've said for yrs they should just drop the G, I watch more garden show from the UK right here.
I don't even have a TV anymore. I find so much more on You Tube. The internet is a huge research and entertainment center.
Laura being so terrified of possibly killing the bumble bees when spraying just proves how kindhearted she is. This channel is just the most educational and fun to watch! ❤❤❤
Very kind hearted but also bumble bees pollinate her garden!
Kind hearted yes, but also the responsible thing to do. Bees are dying off at alarming rates and we need them. Bumblebees pollinate tomatoes.
I feel the same! 💛🐝🖤 💚🪴🤎
This is better than HGTV because they have no gardening shows anymore. You and Aaron are good custodians of our earth. Thank you for that. I so enjoy these videos and they are top quality.
I share your disappointment with HGTV no longer having gardening shows. Gardening By The Yard was one of my favorites.
I don’t watch any mainstream tv? No hgtv
Yes, I miss the backyard makeover shows.
For some reason I have a sneaky feeling that Aaron was grinning from ear to ear when He saw that drone...love that drone! Hang in there Aaron , Christmas is just around the corner...so sorry your having this insect problem Laura , I hope this application works for your property.
My thought to I was thinking Arron will want one of these😂
Hahaha! I thought the same thing. Can he release chelated iron too?
Aaron, a friend of mine builds large drones like this.
If you want to put in a custom order…..
😂 @Courtney that's a great idea!
Kinda surprised we didn't hear him gasp or even whoop!
Wow!!! Laura and Aaron combining cutting edge technology with agriculture to protect our beneficials is wonderful!!! I work at a career center, and we have programs for 3d printing, web design, animal systems, along with natural resources only to name a few. I am always trying to find ways to show how the programs can be interconnected and this video showing how technology can be so effective in saving our plants and at the same time protecting our beneficials is the true message. I plan to show this video to some of our instructors so they can use it as an educational tool in their programs. It is important for young students to visualize how their future career goals also have an ecosystem of their own!!!
I would say what a good sport for being on camera but imagine all the additional attention he's getting to his business! The garden answer impact.
He was very good on camera, too. Very at-ease and personable.
This was filmed and edited so well! Informed and entertained!
Agree! This one was just above and beyond!
Yes. A drone filming a drone spraying. Awesome!
When we lived in El Paso,Tx we went to a Ladybug release held by a local Pecan Farm. They hold one every year to open the season and they make it a family event. Families bring their lawn chairs and blankets. Children get to run around and play. Then they bring out bags of ladybugs and the children get to open them and release them. I thought it was a great idea to bring awareness to the community and that was the first time I learned how beneficial ladybugs are to the ecosystem. 🐞
Thank U So Much for sharing, this idea is great and fun also
How neat! I lived in El Paso for a time, that sounds like a fun activity if I still lived there.
That is so cool.
@@FernsAndForest Ladybugs will stick around if they have food and water.
What an awesome way to educate so many!
I’m a micro flower farmer here in the Willamette Valley. I LOVE this!! Our native pollinators need us, we’re loosing them. This is so awesome that you decided to use beneficials instead of ANY type of spray. This really helps spread good information that is desperately needed. AMAZING❤️🌻👨🏻🌾💐
Fellow Willamette Valley resident! 👋 What is your business called?
I don’t know why but Aaron’s drone footage (with accompanying music) of the drone in action drove me to tears! It was so well done and I found myself thinking how far we have come and how my parents and grandparents (all farmers and of course simple gardeners) would never have imagined such a thing. Well done Laura and Aaron for striking a chord!
This is exactly the approach I have hoped you would ultimately take in your gardening journey. My father in law was an entomologist who worked in education at the university level, but also for Colorado Extention Service here in the grand valley of Grand Junction, CO, primarily with the orchards. Getting growers on board with this method was always his goal, leaving harmful pesticides a thing of the past. It is not an easy goal to accomplish a lot of the time, but with exposure and education, it is definitely a far greater way to proceed.

THIS!!! I am over the moon they're trying natural methods now. They have such a massive following and the spraying was definitely influencing others which completely broke my 🤍. In fact I stopped watching for a while because of it.
@@alfp8765 I totally get that!
I agree, this is a huge evolution of thought, and I’m glad to see it.
@GardenKath I absolutely agree!! There is SO much more to gardening than planting things. There is also the responsibility of being a sustainable gardener. This is a good step.
THIS IS SO COOL! I love that Aaron used his drone to get footage and I love love love that you are saving the sleeping bumblebees. I am having a huge bee year too and they are SO CUTE sleeping on/in flowers, like they got drunk on nectar and just decided to rest. So far (fingers crossed) bribing my huge bird population with seed has kept the pests down. If only they would scare off the tomato stealing raccoons!
Love those bumblebees they are so cute !!
I agree. The drone footage of the drone at work was wonderful!
It has been a really big bee year for me as well, especially the bumbles. I catch them hanging out and snoozing under leaves and flowers - now I know they are the males.😉🐝
Love your comments! Great sense of humor!👍😁
Make your own ghost pepper or jalapeño spray. Boil water then put hot seeds in it. When it cools, strain and bottle the water. Spray on your tomato plants and around the yard. Raccoons will leave them alone. Apply again after it rains!
A lot of other wild bees sleep wherever too, so it's great to eliminate spraying as much as possible
Early morning some are hanging on my Salvia sleeping.
My son flys drones for real estate so I sent him this video to give him more ideas for work! We are on the Eastern Shore in Maryland with lots of crops! Thank you for such a fascinating video!!!❤
First I’m so sorry y’all have this insect issue. Bummer! Second so glad to know these critters can be applied by hand for those with smaller gardens. Thank you, this was truly so interesting !🥰
Hubby and I were amazed at this technology and science, and how precisely the beneficials can be applied to broad areas. Charles was a Biology teacher and sees a whole new area of education to apply to agriculture and biology classes! Thank you so much, Laura and Aaron for making these retired educators' day!
And new career opportunities for students!
releasing the mites with the drone - (and what a drone!!!) So so cool! Thank you Aaron for your drone shots! Thank you Laura and Aaron for all you share and do for all of us and taking us with you on this neat adventure! Learning about these beneficial predators will be my new thing to geek out about!
WOW Laura this video caught my attention right from the get go👏🏻👏🏻this was so interesting and the young man flying the drone was so patient and kind and so willing to answer all your questions.
Thank you for bringing the GA community along. We learn something new everyday👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🍸🍸🍸
I love that you’ve found a way to not use chemicals, but also really really enjoyed the extra drone footage. I always love seeing your property in the aerial footage.
It's so cool that you're trying this out!
I personally had great success battling the aphids in my vegetable garden with ladybug larvae I ordered. In 2 weeks all the aphids were gone.
So incredibly cool. Love that Aaron got the above the drone shots.
Thank you for educating us, but also your children the importance of taking care of our pollinators. I didn't know about the sleeping patterns of the bees, but it is nice to know. I have learned so much from you and thank you for all you do with your gardening. Great job.
I learned about the sleeping bumble bees in a flower, when I went to snip some flowers one evening from my garden. I grabbed at the somewhat " closed" bloom to get a surprise stinger in my hand. Surprise...😂
WOW! This whole process was completely fascinating, and so appreciative that you shared it with us! How long will this protection last until you have to reapply them? So glad that Benjamin got to see this and learn from it at such a young age!
I wondered the same thing. Hope they last for the season.
Wow! I have honey bees, wish the big corn farmers around here would turn to this method. I lost 7 hives of bees one year to them spraying insecticide. I sometimes have to use insecticides myself but am very careful in what (organic) and when I use them. Thanks for sharing. Hope this idea continues to grow and becomes widely used. NC
Sorry you lost so many bees one year due to pesticides. We need bees! Is there any way to educate the farmers in your area about the use of beneficials? If not the farmers maybe the local extension office? Someone has to start caring about limiting the use of pesticides without questioning the effects on all of us.
I'm in southern NJ and my neighbor who raises bees told me that farms within a certain distance have to notify her if they are spraying. Maybe she's registered somewhere? This was a few years ago that she told me. Interestingly, one farm now has their own bees for selling honey and they help with pollination. I imagine they completely changed up how they deal with pests.
Thank you for thinking about the bumble bees. Greetings from a beekeeper from Belgium who loves your show!
Jake was such a sport and so easy and comfortable on camera. Great drone footage.
I really appreciate the practice of stewardship of the precious pollinators in our environment. They reward us (and our livestock) with an abundance of food! Thank you Laura!
Evening All. Hope you all have a great day. I'm heading to bed soon here in Australia, but I am happy to see Laura and see what's happening in her garden before bed 😊
Same here Tammie. I’m in Australia too. I hop into bed and put my ear plugs in and listen. Love it!
@@lindagardener855 same, hopeinto bed turn the TV on and watch any of her new videos and then go back to watching her older ones...binge watching at the moment lol
I’m so impressed that you have gone the extra mile to combat destructive insects in this manner. Love your tenacity and fortitude. You are a blessing to the gardening community.
"Garden Answer" is well named! You guys are awesome to educate, inspire & inform! I will be watching to see how it works out for you. I can appreciate that you share THE REAL STUFF...good,bad or ugly. Not just pretty things or things to perfection. It's REAL life. Keep up the great work you do.❤
Awesome comment! I wholeheartedly agree! 💖
Good morning ❤ love that you think of protecting the bumble bees and the other beneficials. Thank you for all that you do! We all appreciate it ❤
Im in ontario Canada (small town) and we have a Koppert warehouse/lab here in my town. They use them in the greenhouses. Cool. I always notice too, that when we buy annual flower baskets here, they have the koppert tags hanging on the hanging baskets of certain flowers.
That’s very interesting, I thought this would be available only in the US but hearing there’s a Cdn/ONT connection is good to know. I’m in TO; thanks for the info. 🇨🇦👍
😂 I always wondered what those little bags were. Any idea how long they last? Hamilton ON 🇨🇦
I noticed little bags in my Proven Winners pots wham I get a delivery. I figured it was to keep bugs away
Yes, the company is actually Dutch, from Netherlands. They have places all around the world, including my small town, but I'm going to assume it's because we are the greenhouse capital of Canada (Leamington ON). I'm not too sure how long each packet lasts, but I always just keep it on, and I never have a problem with bugs :)
I've been using mites and such for some of the pests in my garden. It's helped a lot. The pests didn't fully disappear, but they're few enough that my plants don't die anymore. I have used ladybug larvae before. Had a ton of aphids last year, hardly any this year :) Here in the Netherlands they only sell one type of (native) ladybug
That's perfect! Using natives is the way. ❤️
That is so cool! Thank you for sharing! Drone envy?!! The footage was amazing!
Protecting the pollinators is so important! I wish everybody was as concerned and as caring as you are.
Little by little I hope we can educate others on the importance of good bugs!
Thank you for using your platform to promote earth friendly methods. You have so much power to make a difference through your followers. ❤🌎🌍🌏
Laura---after your pond is finished, you should buy some native frogs and toads for it. Then, get a bunch of solar lanterns around your gardens. The frogs will be natural pest killers! They're so good for the garden.
It is pretty amazing how local amphibians will find a new water source. They won't need to buy anything like that. Frogs and Lizards will simply appear on their own. It's so cool!
Benjamin could almost ride on that drone! Whoa!
This was just fascinating. I don’t think there could be a more eco friendly solution.
I’m so glad you’re taking care of the bumblebees Laura. 🐝🐝🐝
Oh my gosh!!! Wow!!! The inner geek in me is digging this video sooo much, as is my gardening self!!! This was such a cool video! One of the best ever!!! The drone footage was fabulous! The statistics that Laura gave us were so very interesting! 😊
KUDOS, you guys! This is definitely a step towards the better, more sustainable direction (compared to all the chemicals). It's very responsible for you to influence people not just to garden but to garden responsibly. Thank you. 🐝🌻❤
I am so happy to see GA trying this approach and thank you for bringing us along. I have been practicing a little patience and letting lady beetles and lacewings handle the aphids this year. I am having less success handling spider mites, so I will be looking into buying predatory mites. I have been focusing on attracting beneficial bugs, so will add buying to the arsenal.
Loved seeing you so excited Laura. Really hope it means spider-mite free box hedges in the future. 😎
I love how kitty walks with you. Stops with you. And walks with you and so on :)
OMG! Thank you so much for sharing this video! It's so interesting. And thank you, to Jake, for agreeing to be filmed for us. I have never heard the term "insectory" and I live in an agricultural area close to a university with a strong ag dept. Fascinating! Aaron, your aerial filming of that drone was so professional. The variety of viewpoints you shared was spot-on!
I delivered a box of some type of insect this spring and I wondered about that! I've delivered baby chicks and ducks, but never bugs. This was so interesting!! Thanks Laura!
Such a cool process! Thanks to Jake for being okay with filming the process. Again, SO COOL! Let's hope this solves your thrip issue & beyond!
SO INTERESTING and informative. It’s wonderful that you exercise so much caution concerning the bees and pollinators. It was amazing to see the property from above. As beautiful as it is on the ground, from the air it is truly breathtaking.
That was so so interesting!! Can’t wait to hear the follow ups on how it went 👏🏼👏🏼👍😀
Thank you for today's education. My goodness there is so much to learn. Thank you Laura, Aaron & Jake.
This is so informative. We used beneficial nematodes for some problems in our grass. His drone and application was interesting to see. The overhead view of your property is gorgeous.
I'm eliminating harmful chemicals from my lawn and gardens! I posted this video on my Facebook page, so that my friends and family will become aware too. I'm so very disappointed that poisonous, cancer causing chemicals are still sold in every garden center and big store retailers. A lot of them are band in Europe. For years now I haven't been using chemicals for my lawn. I'm going to start gardening in raised beds. This information was so helpful. As more chemicals are being added into our food chain; we all need to be aware and responsible consumers. Thank you for posting this video! This is the beginning for many of us.
Thank you for preserving the bees, they are so important.
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere Florida zone 9b 🇺🇸
My goodness...you are excited!
I loved how Aaron's Drone was watching the Big Drone ❤Wow!
Drone Envy, for sure!
I will definitely look into beneficial insects in my garden ❤
Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍
Yesterday, while watching Jim Putnam(?) talk about pests, I walked out on my porch to see little black things (aphids) on a few of my Nasturium leaves. Eradicated that. Hours later in another video I heard Laura say she plants Nasturium near roses, since aphids love Nasturium.☺️ Thank you for all you do for all of us!
The production and editing of all your videos are fabulous, but this one in particular was off the charts. Super interesting content. Thank you so much!
WOWWWW!!!! This was an amazing experience; almost like i was there!! The footage is AWESOMELY AMAZING!!!!! Thanks Laura and Aaron for bringing us along!! 🌺❤️🌺
That was one of the coolest things I’ve ever watched. The property is absolutely beautiful.
wonder if there is anything to eat the SLUGS! Loved seeing the droneS and just how far you have expanded on the property. Thank you for another educational video Laura and Aaron. Have a great day.
Ducks. They love to eat slugs.
nematodes will kill slugs!
You need a drone like that in the future...lol. That's pretty wild and very cool. It should be interesting to see how successful that application is.
I love that the technician trusted Aaron enough to fly his drone at the same time. Crazy!
Brilliant video and so fascinating. Loved that Aaron got his drone up and we got so much gorgeous footage of the gardens, as well as watching the bugs being released. You guys never cease to improve the content of your videos. Well done!!!!!!!!!👌
Wow, that's super cool. Thanks for taking us along! Hope they are effective for you!
That mite is great. They go from predatory til victim exhausted, then they go to not pollinator but pollen eater. That's too funny. Loved the drone tour and info as always. Thanks for sharing!
As a former grower we had 30'X96' hoop houses that had 3 sets of A-frames made out of conduit (4 rungs) that held several hundred hanging baskets. In one house we grew impatient and double impatiens only. Well guess what THRIPS love! Almost lost the entire crop and quickly learned about thrips (had never seen nor dealt with these nasty plant eating bug bugs before). Then my plant/seed salesman walked in and immediately diagnosed my problem, and since this was many years ago we did use chemicals to spray😢, after a few applications bugs gone and plants rejuvenated, yay! I love, love watching how these kind of problems can now be taken care of naturally😊. 30 years later I'm still learning ing, mainly through Garden Answer, my favorite channel with amazing owners like Laura and Aaron ❤
This was so amazing! Also Aaron had his drone flying to perfection capturing everything even close up! Very talented Aaron. You both are professionals and everything you do is with expertise. Well done👏👏
Thank you for mentioning about the bumblebees, its the very reason I won't spray in my garden anymore, I see so many bees resting overnight in my garden I wont risk it!
This was super interesting thanks for the cool video and info!
Thank you for such a wonderful channel! This was just an amazing video, so educational! Environmentalists should pay attention to this and do the work...not just the talk. Aaron & Laura you guys are just awesome!
We absolutely love the science behind all of this! Also, the drone envy comment was hilarious! 😉 😀
Well if he wanted to branch out.. going on Garden Answer will do that! SO COOL!! Thanks for always bringing us with a wealth of knowledge ❤❤ 20:20
SO INTERESTING! My issue here in IL zone 5b is Japanese beetles and I have tried every home remedy I can find. And I just had to mention how adorable the little tea set next to you at the end when you recapped the process! Just the cutest and shows that your shopping trips with Mom for the bistro sets are so perfect!
The "Storm of the Century" here in Central Texas in February 2021 knocked out our local bumblebee population. We have a single bed of 10 Mystic Spires Blue Salvia that we've planted since 2020. In 2021, we had ZERO bumblebees. In 2022, we had at most two late in summer. This morning, that bed had 11-12 along with other native Texas bees. It's been a good year for them, even more than in 2020. So, I can appreciate someone doing what they can not to harm their bumblebee populations. :)
This was so fun to watch. We have beneficial bug companies in Canada too!
This has been one of yror all best videos ever!!! And Aaron having his drone flying over Jake drone was very cool and beautiful Lora! Bugs and all! Hahahaa😂
So interesting! I sure hope it works well. I like this idea better than the crop duster that we had near our home last week!!!
I am so excited to hear the follow up on this to learn how quickly you begin seeing results. What a fantastic way of controlling pests. That drone is so cool. It must be heavy to have only 15 minutes of battery life. You have all put so much time, effort and dedication into caring for all your plants that it makes perfect sense to research options to keep them healthy. I love how passionate you are when you talk about protecting the hardworking bumblebees. So kind, compassionate and just what we would all expect from you, Laura. I have confidence that this will work to rid your plants of harmful bugs. I agree with all the others who complimented Aaron’s video quality. Very nice.
DOUBLE DRONE ACTION!!!! This is soooo cool! No need for drone envy Aaron is a beast with his drones.
This is fascinating! Prayers for a resounding success! Thank you so much for the video and the information! ❤
This was very cool. Aaron, fantastic job on filming!
That was so interesting. I enjoyed Aaron flying his drone at the same time to get a bird's eye view of the other drone. Well done!
Firstly, thank you for caring about the important things. Then showing the children how to. Using the latest technology to make it easy to do and then... for putting your drone up to take shots of his drone!!! Seeing your garden from above is my favourite thing. You're all just doing such a magnificent job. Who else get goose bumps when that drone goes up? 🥰
This is so neat and sure hope it helps with your garden issues. Looking forward to hearing some updates on how well you think it worked. Thank you for sharing with us.
The whole process is so interesting 🌸
This guy was awesome at explaining everything and the process was so cool.
Oh my gosh Laura, how interesting thank you for including us . 🤗
This is absolutely one of the coolest videos you guys have ever posted. Thanks for amazing content!!!!
How far your garden has come. The drone shots are beautiful. Would u include your old pondless waterfall in the south garden?
She gave the pond away
That drone was killer. We used to see these huge ones doing aerial mapping at work. And thanks to Aaron for drone footage above the big drone. Fascinated too with this! And love that GA can impart info like this to all who watch!!❤❤❤❤
9:30 - I love how Douglas is watching/listening intently
This was fascinating! Also I always love how where there's Laura, there's always a cat nearby😁
This was very interesting! Loved the drone shots; your south garden is looking amazing!
I am very impressed with this video!
I stopped spraying 20 years ago because a bioligist friend told me there are many pollinators and beneficial insects at night too, and what may look like a bee sleeping on a fllower for days is actually dead.
Kudos to Laura for not poisoning the food chain!
I’m glad you are finally considering not spraying poison.
That was amazing to watch such a great way to take care of the problem hope it works. Oh and did I mention the view, spectacular❣️ your property has come such a long way it is so beautiful. The drone footage shows all the new pathways love it so much❣️
So fascinating to watch!! So cool! Its so interesting that bugs can do so much.
That was one awesome video, having Aaron's drone shadow the big boy was really neat. A unique way to treat a bad bug issue.
I appreciate so much that you care about the bumble bees! We need them! ❤️ Love all your videos and the knowledge you bring us. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden spaces with us.
This was amazing....I had no idea and i'm so glad you asked about the ladybugs. I often wondered the same thing. I need to research my area for native ones.
Looking forward to seeing the results. Thank you for showing me an alternative to spray.
How interesting! And what a coincidence - the ag-related program Market to Market did a segment just this morning on beneficial insects, and were using drones! They were using them on apple orchards. Great footage of the drone, Aaron, and great information. Thanks.
Several years ago I had a horrendous Japanese beetle problem. I couldn’t even think of using chemicals. I was pulling them off by hand but it became too much. After two consecutive years of using beneficial nematodes, I’ve spotted less than a handful of JBs TOTAL in several years. This year I had three rhododendrons get heavily infested by whiteflies…my first encounter with them. I pruned, blasted with hose, and did a couple of rounds of neem/soap. The shrubs were no longer in bloom. This took care of most of them but while heading out on an errand one day, I had a single ladybug in my car. I captured her in a cup and brought her back home and placed her on the center shrub. I still had some lingering flies but she took care of the rest for me! I love that more people are being more cautious. Beneficial really do work! I continually try to educate friends/family in avoiding the big box store chemical methods. This was so fun to watch! Thanks for all the great information.
