Okay, I might as well add my personal experience story - perhaps an inspiration for this song! A lot of you know I work in Education. When I was teaching, years ago, we had parent conferences one day. Our principal shouted us all a lovely takeaway dinner in the staffroom afterwards, because it was a very long afternoon of back to back meetings. Anyway, after eating, I got the dreaded bloat, so in the car on the way home, I undid my top button and zip to 'breathe'! Of course, I'd forgotten about this when I went to the BUSY petrol station to fill up. Once I got home, I saw my error in my mirror - professional outfit, all black, name badge from my school, and a bright white triangle of undies poking through where I'd let the zipper in the pants down. Yikes.
I used to wear jeans to my work. The computer system analyst before me did so, so I copied him. He told me there was no promotion, no client contact. So jeans were fine. One day I saw in a mirror that my bright red underwear was visible through the holes I had worn in the jeans. Next day I wore dress pants and a dress shirt. My boss queried me on my wardrobe change. I told her I felt I would better represent the company by dressing better. Two days later we had a new company policy. Dress pants and shirts for men. A vague dress code for women, implying business clothes but not defining it. My point: my wardrobe malfunction changed-instituted a company dress code.
Great story!!! I must confess at my age now, 63......only elastic!!! I quit wearing jeans with zippers and bands years ago! I'm retired and I'm gonna be comfortable but yes, I suffered through a many of those situations! Another great parody song!!!
I think we can all relate to similar situations like this. The problem when we relax in our cars and unbutton is that the zip has a way of finding it's way down without us knowing. You're not alone Shirley!

Then I rolled off and strutted like a mummy until they'd warmed up enough for me to be able to bend my knees. Sure, they looked good (or so I thought) but the best thing about them was when I got to take them off. It's like the sweet relief you feel when you take off your bra. I’m 47 and have been fighting the “middle age spread” for over a decade now (damn you, early perimenopause!). I’ve been buying my jeans in the men’s department at Walmart forever because of a variety of reasons, one of which is the better fit (after all, how can one screw up waist and inseam measurements in inches?). Men’s jeans in winter, military summer-weave pants in hot weather, a pair of men’s black dress slacks for when I need “business” attire-that sums up the bottom half of my wardrobe. But WHY does our weight gain have to be in the middle when there’s no need whatsoever for us to save reserves for a possible pregnancy anymore?! It’s MADDENING!
I love your videos, they always make my day. Where I live in Canada we call them "buffet pants". So that they can stretch after eating at the buffet, ha ha!!
I love all your songs, but hands down this has got to be my favorite one!!! I love ABBA, and you made a honest and dreaded problem into something almost delightful. I even kept my maternity pants around for awhile after my last child, now 30+ years ago, just so I could eat out and be comfortable. I did get rid of them before everyone noticed. I only discovered this very amusing video this morning (15 July 2024) ....I don't know where you've been but I've been wearing expanding jeans for a couple of decades.....apart from the improved comfort...expanding jeans also accommodate a degree of weight gain or weight loss - once upon a time it was necessary to have 'skinny' jeans / 'medium' jeans and 'fat' jeans - now one size will do!! 😂😂💕

Did Shirley. I just ran across your channel and listened to menopause and aging men and laughed and laughed. I'm 66 and was in a catastrophic accident back in February 2022 and was in the hospital for 6 months with 4 operations from a bad doctor. During this time of not being able to move or walk, I have put on 50 pounds and have been very depressed. Listening to your songs really helped me laugh and feel better. It's going to be a long, slow road, but eventually I will get my weight back down, be able to walk again and have some sort of life in the future. Thank you so very much for making me laugh and giving me that little push I needed.

I wanted a new outfit for my first post-COVID-19 big event. I went to my nearby Macy's (major chain in the U.S.) and found something I liked. At first glance, I thought it was a long dress, but it turned out to be a 3-piece pants outfit, including a shell top and an outer top. And they even had it in my size. But the shell top was missing. So they didn't have it in my size but had the next higher size. I tried it on. The pants did not fall down on me. The shell top was too big, but I decided to take it. And the whole evening when I wore it, I never had to worry about it suddenly becoming too tight! (And since it was a pants outfit, I could wear knee-highs instead of pantyhose!)

I am from a Mormon religious back ground (Agnostic now) so my back up robes, or lounge wear is dresses either below knees or ankle length. It is all in one, comfy and looks put together. But since I am a single mom of three adult children ages 42-22 I work. Usually two jobs; military & federal where I get to wear fatigues practically 24/7. lol. Now I am semi retired driving a school bus for special needs. And unfortunately I get to wear pants unless it is some religious thing. Men's jobs pay more than female jobs so gone are the dresses I used to wear when I was young. Most comfy things to wear in of course warm places. I live in Alaska.

During this time of not being able to move or walk, I have put on 50 pounds and have been very depressed. Listening to your songs really helped me laugh and feel better. It's going to be a long, slow road, but eventually I will get my weight back down, be able to walk again and have some sort of life in the future. Thank you so very much for making me laugh and giving me that little push I needed.

I wanted a new outfit for my first post-COVID-19 big event. I went to my nearby Macy's (major chain in the U.S.) and found something I liked. At first glance, I thought it was a long dress, but it turned out to be a 3-piece pants outfit, including a shell top and an outer top. And they even had it in my size. But the shell top was missing. So they didn't have it in my size but had the next higher size. I tried it on. The pants did not fall down on me. The shell top was too big, but I decided to take it. And the whole evening when I wore it, I never had to worry about it suddenly becoming too tight! (And since it was a pants outfit, I could wear knee-highs instead of pantyhose!)

I am from a Mormon religious back ground (Agnostic now) so my back up robes, or lounge wear is dresses either below knees or ankle length. It is all in one, comfy and looks put together. But since I am a single mom of three adult children ages 42-22 I work. Usually two jobs; military & federal where I get to wear fatigues practically 24/7. lol. Now I am semi retired driving a school bus for special needs. And unfortunately I get to wear pants unless it is some religious thing. Men's jobs pay more than female jobs so gone are the dresses I used to wear when I was young. Most comfy things to wear in of course warm places. I live in Alaska.
I often wear long dresses, just because I love them! Winter or summer. 💃🏽
