Thank you for uploading these timeless classics. It is good to see blacks portrayed from this time period as "normal" with all the trappings/blessings of being part of the human race.
If you hate black people and you're a Nazi, then explain to me why you're watching a black film? Is it because of history or because of your stupidity please white man tell me.
Another great film by Oscar Micheaux
Maxine Jarrett yeah can’t wait till he comes out with another one
That 58 minute drum solo is pretty hard to take.
Kenith Devries
I am a collector of silent
cinema. The trick is to dub
in your own background music. It's creative and improvisational.
[@@auntroachkiller6086 At a screening here in NYC next week, they are having a Live piano accompaniment with the film. I look forward to seeing that!
Music was composed and performed by Max Roach.
"We were never immigrants!" --Oscar Micheaux
@Patricia Griffith BINGO!
Thank you for this film. I've seen a number of his films but didn't know about this one.
I am really enjoying watching these classic silent movies. Thanks for uploading them for UA-cam viewers to enjoy!
i love the music in these films! This one has a happy ending. Imagine, a story, with the KKK, that has a happy ending.....
It is all a matter of taste. You like the music and I find it despicable and annoying.
Not "Murder in Mississippi" LOL
Its one of the great jazz drummers , Max Roach! With Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie he founded bebop!
@@f.w.2054 thank you!
@@natewatl9423 hmmm, well, I find your attitude to be despicable and annoying so there's that...
thank you uploader
Great score.
The man who comes in the room at the end favors scatman crothers
Bravo bravo👏👏👏👏
'Puck and the Preacher '
has a simular plot with this film.
Good film; strange music.
Interesting.
Wouldn't go a bundle on the accompanying " music."
I know, right?!
Why no trademark
Max Roach and those who hired him to the terrible disservice to this story. I am going to watch it is a genuine silent movie with no sound whatsoever from that crap composer
I hope you're not calling Max Roach a crap composer! He was one of the greatest jazz legends ever and created the language of modern jazz!!!!
@@f.w.2054 thank you. The man is a jazz legend.
you can't watch these films without a basic knowledge of eugenics and the general panic (among whites) about miscegenation, both of which influenced Americans at that time
lone violist miscenegation was indeed against the law back in Jim Crow days
Miscegenation was commonly factored by
plantation rape, not concentual bound between the races.
Michaux's fans complained heavily
about the number of
racially hybrid characters
in his films.
And what i don't understand about the miscegenation law is why didn't the white men obey? They couldn't stay out of my foremothers shack!!!
34:37 - Tired of the drum so9lo, yet?
Absolutely not. I love the great Max Roach!
10:30
47:38 - Ha! I didn't think those people could write!
What people?
Was that good dude wearing black face? I can't tell
He doesn't look black
I can't watch this, those drums in the soundtracks sound terrible.
The great Max Roach!
