Not everyone who buys (or leases) this thing needs to be able to climb a tree in everyday use. It would greatly expand JLR's potential customer base.
@@gadeane287 Then it wouldn't be a RR. The brand is "off roading across the Sahara"; EVERY RR has to be able to do that. What you are describing is a Jaguar F-Pace.

I've always felt the reviews of the low to mid spec versions of any vehicle are the best ones to watch. The inherent goodness (or lack thereof) is apparent when you have the base engine, the base seats, the base suspension, etc. If all of that is good and you come away feeling like "wow, awesome ride!" then that means a lot more to me. Porsche is like that---base Macan is a joy to drive. BMW, maybe Alfa....not Audi though; for Audi you CANNOT ever bother with the FWD stuff with the base 2.0 engine. If this RR Sport is this good at the base level, then JLR has hit one out of the park.
Mazda’s base-model Miata is the Sport, and nobody even knows it exists. That is just how the dealers want it, because they can then gouge their customers thousands extra for the Club, which comes with a few brand-name add-ons.
I’m enjoying the review of a base model without options. It’s much more representative of how fundamentally good the vehicle is, especially given that most dealer inventories contain only moderately equipped cars.

I had a 2016 diesel sport, only issue was ac compressor went out under warranty. Just got this exact 2024 in this gorgeous color and have to say the interior and ride quality are miles above the 16 (which i thought was amazing at the time). Also I think they knocked it out of the park with the redesign. Gorgeous.
Damn, I like RR for their ride quality and interior feel. For example, Velar is probably the only SUV that I can just WALK inside, without bending or stepping up. But when I imagine the horror of driving to dealer at least once a month, POS infotainment (in Velar at least) and HUGE price drop after 2 or 3 years of ownership - it's just not worth it, even leasing it is not worth the hassle.
I leased the previous gen of the RRS in 2020 after years of BMWs and Audis. At the beginning, I was skeptical and went along with it because my wife was excited about it. After 3 years, I ended up loving this thing and its been the best car I've owned...0 issues amazingly, solid build quality, great audio system, better steering/brake feel than current BMWs/Audis, very comfortable seats, looks great, practical, etc. Despite being a large SUV, it has the feel and dynamics of an old school BMW --think overgrown e39. Plus the local JLR dealer treats me way better than BMW ever did. At the end of the lease, I looked around and didn't find anything that I liked better. Dealers were (and still are) asking for ADMs on the new one so I decided to just buy out the lease and bide my time. But all roads are leading me straight back to another RRS. The Cayenne looks like a suppository, is less comfortable and is more expensive, the X5 is underwhelming with its overly assisted steering, uglified post facelift front-end and all touch screen climate controls and the Q7/8 just seem very outdated at this point. The Volvos also feel outdated at this point and I can't imagine spending 70k+ to get a 4 cylinder. I disagree on the base model RRS not being worth it. It comes with a bunch of stuff that is optional on an X5/Q7 so apples to apples its not as big a premium as you think (and all the extra stuff that come standard on the RRS like surround view, leather seats and adaptive cruise are stuff I would have to add to those cars anyway). Even the base model is still way better looking, more comfortable and just more enjoyable to drive than the German competition. I get that the ingenium is no B58, but I'd say its 90% as good (and way better than any of the VAG V6s used in Audis and Porsches). So yeah, I now understand why people continually go back to this brand even when they have issues....once you drive one its hard to go back to the Germans.

I own the P360 and have to disagree with the aspects related to it being "cheap" or the least desirable option. This one is easily the most bang for the buck AND give you EVERYTHING that's available in the next trim up at $7000 LESS ONLY ~40 horses and ~40lbft torque. If you think a 0.3 second reduction in time in an ultra smooth cruising SUV is worth it then hey, more power to you. Regarding the +30k engine option of the First Edition with the BMW engine, that's when you can about guarantee faults to come with that powertrain. Ultimately, I have a vehicle on the road that next to impossible to get as a result of the current market and it looks BEYOND amazing. The white interior as opposed to black seen here also adds to the opulence and esteem. The only other note I have as a point of correction is that the piano black is THE EXACT SAME through every trim of the vehicle.
I enjoyed how Jack “speaks” to mark by breaking the third wall in a way. Knowing that mark mark is doing the editing and Jack is doing the speaking ofc.
All the German high performance SUVs are going 20-30% more than these "boutique" brands, and they are producing the shit out of them. At this price point, who would want those generic looking boats that show up at every corner... At least the British and Italian counterparts have character, and not a total abomination in design. Really hope Mark and Jack can review the F-Pace SVR before the 5.0L v8 goes away.
Well said. I switched from 2021 X6 40i to 2023 F-Pace SVR (after getting a 2023 F-Type between the SUV). The F-Pace is awesome. Jags have soul and great lines, the Germans cant touch with a 10 ft pole. Also, the interior on the F-Pace SVR is every bit the equal of the RRS and Velar, for lower price
The problem with many youtube car reviewers is that they don’t give a **** about reliability and they don’t even discuss that important issue with such huge investment in high priced cars.
A friend bought a fully loaded Land Rover Discovery 3.0 V6 TurboDiesel 5 years ago. Not only it didn't it break down once, but it's been faultless since the begining. The only underside it's the often break jobs, being a very heavy vehicle, and of course the fuel consumption.⛽️
As a person who has owned many Volvos and has 2 currently, I find this SUV quite attractive. I have avoided JLR products in the past due to reliability issues.
A buddy had a Sport about two years ago. It was gorgeous! They spent more time in a 😮dinky little loaner than the Sport b/c of electrical gremlins. Wound up suing LR and the company bought the thing back.
It looks mint, and the drivetrains are finally competitive! I'm personally glad to see JLR stay relevant in the SUV market. They sell a unique experience that the Germans don't offer.
A benchmark for what? Breaking down? Have you travelled the world a bit? I have and you only ever see two vehicles in the most remote parts of the world, that is the Hilux and Land Cruiser. You never see Range Rovers.

Jack, my compliments on doing a thoughtful job of defining tech terms like rear steer and I6 in the undercar segment for those who don't know them. It's obvious you took to heart that comment when you heard it in the AMA session. While I happened to know these bits, there will be others I don't, and the effort is appreciated.
I recently picked up a new Defender on air suspension. The adaptive shocks had an issue like they were stuck on full hard. The dealer wanted 6 weeks before they could look at it, a brand new car! No loan cars available. Basically they weren't helpful at all in trying to sort it out. I sold it after only a few weeks. I've heard parts are a VERY long wait and in some cases Land Rover are telling customers they have NO ETA on some parts. Have accident? You might be off the road for 6 months+. Lovely cars but I'd avoid them big time if you want to DRIVE a Land Rover as your daily.
It’s a shitbox. Drove a 2022 with 25k miles, and it rattled, struggled to get out of its own way, and the drive was no better than a 5 year old Tahoe. I don’t get it. I see why so many are being repossessed in my neighborhood. ;)
FWIW, the last four JLR products I've owned (a 2015 RRS SVR, my wife's 2018 V8 RR, the 2020 Defender 110 she replaced it with, or the 2023 Defender 130 we've had for 6 months have been in the service department for anything but routine maintenance. Before that, sure, they were nightmares but they really haven't been the same since ditching the generations that were a hodgepodge of Ford, BMW, and other parts.
I haven't verified this but I have a feeling that the infotainment/tech improvement might have something to do with TATA's ownership of JLR. Tata consulting services might have partly or fully developed those systems.
RR Sports do not have terrible depreciation anymore. In 2014, my dad paid $63k for an SE model. In January 2020 he got $40k for it when trading it in for a new one.
the reason i like range rovers and landrovers,is the luxury combined with off road capability, when they work. If land rover was to ditch that, it would lose o alot of their character and clients i think.
Great stuff per usual. Any chance you'll get to review the 7-seat Range Rover? As someone who's never owned a RR, the common narrative seems to be that reliability is awful (across their product line). However, I've met owners who have actually had good reliability experiences, and say that poor reputation isn't accurate. Any RR owners out there who want to chime in?
You are correct. The reliability of a Range Rover is on par with, if not better than its German rivals. If routine maintenance is preformed, the vehicle will last. Service intervals are 2 years, 22,000 miles.

I still think it's crazy that this channel is sub 1mil subscribers. Doug Demuro used to be my favorite reviewer, that's changed. I love your videos and I look forward to each one you put out. Thanks guys!!!!! :)
@@Catuyn17 Cute.
that's right - point on. not sure how these "reviewers" missed all that.
Nice review but this is not a 2024 model, this is the 2023. They made major interior changes for 2024 and you're going to confuse people searching.
You may be the last people to do this vehicle....but you are the only ones I watched. Number three reporting for duty Sir!
I enjoyed how Jack “speaks” to mark by breaking the third wall in a way. Knowing that mark mark is doing the editing and Jack is doing the speaking ofc.
Yes! They dropped the AI skit. The fake out was actually really funny.
83k day one
8.3k day after warranty expires

As an E70 X5 owner thank you for providing me with the jumpscare
The problem with many youtube car reviewers is that they don’t give a **** about reliability and they don’t even discuss that important issue with such huge investment in high priced cars.
You wonder who buys all the lease returns. I’d need an 11-foot pole before going near one of those.
On the contrary, there are plenty of youtube video that do long-term reviews.
Still ranked 31 out of 32 which is pretty much worst of the worst. I wouldn’t trust one of these overlanding.
Its all about maintenance. But as in all things, the more complicated, the greater the likelihood of a fault.
Finally a review without the hideous dynamics package. The base bodywork looks so much better.
As a person who has owned many Volvos and has 2 currently, I find this SUV quite attractive. I have avoided JLR products in the past due to reliability issues.
14:18 shoutout to my two bros!!
A buddy had a Sport about two years ago. It was gorgeous! They spent more time in a 😮dinky little loaner than the Sport b/c of electrical gremlins. Wound up suing LR and the company bought the thing back.
Surprised they are running BMW's V8, they might as well run the B58 for the base engine. B58s for all!!!
Like the ingenious name more then a alphanumeric gibberish likely to soon be forgotten
Somewhere in Korea a Genesis designer is reverse engineering this thing to rebadge it as their 2026 model.
JLR is the only manufacturer that employs a "Check Engine Light Not Functioning" light in their IP's.
Why did they spec the press car with a piano black interior? Also, why offer it at all?
Sending base spec shows confidence 👍
It looks mint, and the drivetrains are finally competitive! I'm personally glad to see JLR stay relevant in the SUV market. They sell a unique experience that the Germans don't offer.
They’re going to have to refresh and get wild because the bar has been pushed towards extremely ugly across the industry
True, but since they own the Boomer market, why compete with cheaper brands?
@@johntechwriter I’m talking about competing with Mercedes and BMW
Can't wait to see these in the Target parking lot or the Starbucks line.
Just like the 70k tundras? Or 50k accords?
Range Rover has always been the benchmark of the SUV world.
A benchmark for what? Breaking down? Have you travelled the world a bit? I have and you only ever see two vehicles in the most remote parts of the world, that is the Hilux and Land Cruiser. You never see Range Rovers.
Benchmark POS. My 4 year old Land Rover Range Rover has spent months in repairs so far. It’s so shit they struggle to even work out the issue. when it does work, it is very comfortable but not worth the hassle
@@electrikoptikpeople that are not so soft don't cry about reliability.
@@electrikoptik REMOTE PLACES Dont MATTER 😂. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT LUXURY SUVS. RANGE ROVER IS JOINT FOUNDER OF Luxury SUVS WITHOUT IT THEY WOULD BE NO LX QX80 And MORE. SO Dont POST DUMB COMMENTS .
@@electrikoptikhave you ever actually owned one?
Your reviews are good, but when it comes to SUVs, why don't you ever tell us how many Velveeta boxes we can fit in the back with the seats folded?
cause that would utterly destroy the "SUVs give you lots of storage space for transporting stuff" argument.
cause a VW passat station wagon has more storage space than this.
@@anonym3017Well yeah cause the Passat wagon is a hell of a lot longer. You're comparing a full size platform to a mid size one.
@@GuyGamer1 we can also look at a skoda octavia. still has more luggage space.
12:51 I’ve heard that noise far too many times before, scared the living shit out of me
Still priced with 20% market adjustments in Boston area. Very low inventory available.
Hi Mark and Jack, can you also review the RR Velar please.. want to know your thoughts of that car
I would love to see your review on a properly optioned Range Rover Sport.
3:07 I saw “transaction machine”, on the screen and that sums it all up.
Great Points. If I had this level of funds for a luxo 2 row SUV, would pick this over a GLE or Q8 for sure.
"This is a base model".
Range Rover: That will be $85,000
1:35 definitely not 118cuft storage capacity behind the front seats. From the website. Volume behind first row (cu. ft.) 53.00
Greetings from Kenya i appreciate your honesty
Excellent review! I am on my second landrover product and I 100% agree with this recent. Very honest, and straight to the point! The sport is truly an incredible value especially with the P400 drivetrain. I love my P400 Defender!!!
Does this come with floor to ceiling weathertech liners? I like my Starbucks but have an irregular colon.
Try jack in the box for breakfast. Your colon will love it. I guarantee.
@@bassandtrebleclef are they still around
Saw one of these being loaded up on a tow truck on the side of the road today lol
Are you guys going to be reviewing the Ineos Grenadier ?
I can't wait to pick one of these up in 5 years with a broken air suspension and 15 fault codes.
Are you using crystal ball or tea leaves?
I already see the older ones in the junk yard 😂
Please review the new GLC, my wife’s boyfriend is looking into leasing one
Can't wait for the EV RR's!
pointless... unless they have B58!!!! MUAHAHAHA lol . but they probably actualy shoudl ave soemthign liek that new 8 cyilnder engine at drivign 4 answers youtueb channel, then have it charge electric drive, so itll be the same experince except much mroe lightweight so everyhting is cheaper and more fun to drive , because why not make it fun to drive as a option? would also like volvo v60 sort of thing, wagon gets best of all car types into a most valueable package. my ideal car would be very different but what im talking about here will convince people who are stuck in their lazy dum ways
1:13 The version that *can* party would be the Range Raver.
4:55 How much more rigid can cars get before they rip a tear into the fabric of the universe?
Jack, my compliments on doing a thoughtful job of defining tech terms like rear steer and I6 in the undercar segment for those who don't know them. It's obvious you took to heart that comment when you heard it in the AMA session. While I happened to know these bits, there will be others I don't, and the effort is appreciated.
East Indians in Canada love this. It will sell hot.
Great content. Where is the promised x7 m50i vid!?
It’s a shitbox. Drove a 2022 with 25k miles, and it rattled, struggled to get out of its own way, and the drive was no better than a 5 year old Tahoe. I don’t get it. I see why so many are being repossessed in my neighborhood. ;)
It's comforting to know that my half-cocked gangster lean will be well-accommodated in the 2nd row!
FWIW, the last four JLR products I've owned (a 2015 RRS SVR, my wife's 2018 V8 RR, the 2020 Defender 110 she replaced it with, or the 2023 Defender 130 we've had for 6 months have been in the service department for anything but routine maintenance. Before that, sure, they were nightmares but they really haven't been the same since ditching the generations that were a hodgepodge of Ford, BMW, and other parts.
great vehicle to own for up to 14 months
What are you talking about there is only one option on RR Sport Piano black....
I haven't verified this but I have a feeling that the infotainment/tech improvement might have something to do with TATA's ownership of JLR. Tata consulting services might have partly or fully developed those systems.
Tata has allowed the Brits to pretty much have it their way when it comes to configuration. But indeed, tech has always been a weak element at JLR.
14:57-15:10 Sounds like a Lincoln Aviator to me 👍
I miss the thing where you mounted the camera to the door, then closed the door
Never thought a measuring tape of out nowhere would make me laugh! Guys are awesome 🤩
Nice crossover.
In the online configuration the physical climate controls have been removed. Even for the larger range rover.
JLR- Why did you give Jack & Mark the lowest end version to review? These guys are the best reviewers out there! Give them your best models to review.
I am guessing Jack has a BMW B85 engine broken down in his living room/den that he is personally rebuilding ....!!!!! And, I am also guessing that he dreams about the double Vanos system everynight...Another nice video guys from my favorite car reviewer channels...
We just got a 2023 Cayenne, will get this next. just to see how the brand is.. hearing the new ones are better on reliability
