Like you, I write by longhand, so I'm never sure how many words I have until I type it up (though I edit, add, and cut as I transfer my draft to digital). I like the idea of making sure one gets at least 1,000 word a day. I wonder how Mosley's habits change when he's in a revision or editing stage? This is where I think it's useful to have a routine based on hours or time blocking. Writing at least 4 hours a day is a great way to give your creative side a chance to get into the zone, whether you're hitting that word-count goal or not. Thanks for sharing your writing routine experiment with us!

Loved the cooking metaphors in this video! I might have to try this routine - so simple, but it's nice to have that little bit of extra structure. I feel like sometimes, in an attempt to take the pressure off of my writing, I go too far in the other direction and the words end up not getting written or I get too distracted and don't write as much as I could have. Thanks again for another lovely video - I'd love to hear sometime how you got your agent/what the querying process was like for you! If you're willing to share, that is :)

Haha, I'm glad the cooking metaphors made sense! For sure, I think this routine takes the pressure off and allows you to just get the words flowing, Thank you and good idea for something to talk about!

I know this is a bit off topic, but your meals look amazing! Ever considered doing a cooking channel?

try an exercise called freewriting. it's made to be messy, you can literally write 'i don't know what to write'
