See when they claimed that it gonna be as fast as if not faster than C7 ZR1 I think they were talking about the track performance, lap-time etc. That is what I think they were referring to. If I am wrong which I would like to be in this case and it ends up being as fast as C7 ZR1 in terms of Top-Speed I can bet lot many track records are gonna get destroyed. Which is bit hard to believe based on info of HP and Weight we currently have. It doesn't add up. But Please I would like to be proven wrong in this case.
Didn't they say the top speed was 189mph? I remember cause I was disappointed since my Hellcat will go 199mph

The c8 out now dealerships are charging 20-30 thousand over msrp. The z06 will definitely be around 130k
Sorry to break the news to you, but they’ve been charging 20-30k over since about June of 2020. Dealers will do what they will do, but there are plenty out there that will only charge MSRP.

Interesting how they went a size smaller on the front and one up on the rear compared to the C7Z. 275 vs 285 / 335 vs 345.
I’m pretty sure it all has to do with not needing as much grip up front because of how light the front end is on the mid engine platform.
The 5-50 motor oil it uses is interesting. I don't know of any other car with that oil.
Yep, it’s interesting for sure. It’s also interesting how the engineers said the oil would last forever. It doesn’t get hot or dirty. 😳

If my math is correct it is capable of 210+ mph even with the shorter rear end of 5.56. Not sure if it has enough power to reach that speed but it should be able to exceed 200 mph quite easily.

So I love the Z06!! I will now make some predictions for the ZR-1. More aggressive aero, yes, a roof scoop, about 850hp, more carbon fiber, faster transmission, 0-60 in about 2.2.

200+ sounds very realistic given the base C8 can do 197.

It's funny because I thought this would have been a big bore, short stroke engine to pull off the high revs. F1 engines used to rev up to 20k rpm with that design.
One has to wonder how many $$$ Emilia invested in her build up and over the cost of the C8. One thing is for sure, to get GM's attention the way she has, I'm thinking that it was worth every penny. I bet you GM had made more than just a couple notes on her build. That in itself if priceless IMO. Save the Wave👋

She was offered $200,000.00 USD for it and turned down the offer (it was a real offer from another UA-cam Channel - it’s actually in one of her videos). She did purchase the Ferrari she wanted which is also super cool. Amazing young woman with a HUGE career ahead of her (as well as the many accomplishments she has already achieved).
A very good point! She earned that chair in that round-table discussion. Just think, she's ascended to the rarefied air of CORVETTE OLYMPUS and can parlay with our venerable "Olympians".

My Chariot, albeit old has been maintained and is sturdy and knows the route by heart. I pray the Gods on high will allow me one more epic ride to be among the Corvette Gods.
GM Should have provided radiator protection for all three of the upfront radiators. With three I think they would reduce airflow minimally and keep temps from overheating
I sure hope that the ZR1/Zora will look less busy than the Z06.
The racecar look fits the Z06 very well, but the top trim C8 would look a whole lot better if it takes on a sleeker, smoother form and would embody the hypercar design ethos of less is more.
The red mist z06 seemed pretty clean to me. The yellow one on the reviews is more busy. The Zr1 usually has a more aggressive race look though

My dealer will do MSRP but won't start taking deposits just to get on the list until noon Tuesday and people are camping outside the dealership. I'm worried I'll end up too fast down the list and not get one. That will really suck.
Hey Mike, thanks for the close up on the 06. I love the red mist on that wide body, but the full natural dip on it (though beautiful) may be too much of a good thing. I am getting used to the boomerangs and looking forward to seeing a car with body colored accents. I will probably be opting for the 06 package because I will not do enough with it to warrant the 07. That said, I really love the wheels on that 06 red mist and I love the spoiler. I would imagine that going full spec on an 07 is going to get pricey, as I am guessing the cf wheels alone will be ~ 10K. Then the full cf interior on a 3LZ, etc., I could easily see it getting to or north of 150K. The thing is just a freaking art piece! My two favorite colors for the Z thus far are Hypersonic with adrenaline dipped and the red mist with some variant of the natural. Thanks to you and Clarence for getting the inside info and shots for us. Great video and content as always!

I’m kinda digging the natural dip. Of course it’s not for everyone but still nice. I’m also wondering can we get the carbon fiber wheels on ALL Z06s.
@@meh2199 I really do like the natural dipped, but I am a bit concerned about the wear it may show. Then again, my 2016 Z06 has under 6k miles so it’s not like it should be a problem. The other concern is the reflection off of the wind screen. I have heard that complaint many times.

I'm about 4 years out for a Z06 on the list of a high volume dealership that is not asking for a markup. Expecting my C8 next fall, but also have a deposit on a Lotus Emira to arrive around the same time if I decide to go with a manual. Whichever i go with it will give me a few years to enjoy until it's my turn on the list for a Z06.
On one of the reviews they said it was limited to 186mph max. Maybe is b/c of the Z07 aero package?
They actually said it would put 784 pounds of downforce on it at 186 mph

Thanks for the videos Mike! I haven't heard anyone talk about this yet, except for Tadge in Speed Phenom's video. He mentioned that there was "aero" added under the car to create a vacuum effect that results in greater down force on the car. If you go to the visualizer and select the Z07 package, then rotate the car up so that you can see under the car from the sides, you can see channels that appear to be curved to direct air from under the car and out the sides. At least that's what it looks like to me. Do you have any thoughts on this?
Great shots Jeremy! Man, I made it to the Peterson Museum on Thursday and had a blast seeing the new Z06. For those who haven't seen it yet, that Red Mist Metallic paint must be seen in person, wow. Really wished I could have been there Tuesday to catch you guys there, too. I was just up the street but, the job got in the way. And man, if I had known Emilia had her Corvette there too, I think I would have faked food poisoning or something to get out of work to be there. :D

To say I am excited would be an understatement. When I joined the order queue in Sep 2020, it was all rumors and guesstimates. GM really exceeded my expectations! I recently reconfirmed with my dealer, and they are committed to fulfilling their order queue all at MSRP.
I hear you talking around the smaller wing. Since I will track mine, the difference, if I remember correctly between the 2 wings downforce...the small wing 300+, large wing 700+. Definitely Z07 with the large wing!

Yes, that is what they said. Almost 400 pounds of downforce with the small spoiler and almost 800 pounds of downforce with the high wing.
Great video Mike - like always…I would be very pleased if it’s under 90k for base coupe - my math is C7 stingray and C7 Z06 base use to have a difference of 25k so it’s possible to see 88-89k base price - the 3LT with Z07 package, some options here and there, destination, gas guzzler etc - hopefully stays under 120k….assumption again since loaded Stingrays are going up from base 62k to 95k-100k (What will eff it all up is the hairy beast - - markups!!)
The dealer mark ups will be insane, especially with the chip shortage, etc.

Those tires are about $622 apiece at Discount Tire. It will set you back $2500 per set every 8,000 miles if you’re driving it like it was meant to be driven. Maybe 12,000 miles if you drive it like it’s a baby.
I'm to buy one in the next 2 or 3 years when the mark ups subside. Red mist is the best color. I love 99% of the Z06.. The only thing I didn't like was they didn't provide us with the clear tail lights. I don't like the regular C8 taillights on the C8 Z06 super car with exotic looks. That wasn't a good decision. Other than that.....I LOVE it..

215 mph would be the max the gear ratios would allow if it has the same gear ratios as the C8 Stingray except with the new 5.56 rear end.

@@TheTmat007 I don’t know the true weight or aerodynamics of the car so I can’t say for sure. However, the gearing is mostly known and that indicates that if it has the power then the gearing would allow at least 210+ mph @8,400 rpm.

The Ferrari 488 GTB had similar gearing and power. Yet, it barely does 200mph.

Some dealers will mark it up, others won’t.
You have to look around for deals even look out of state. Do your research.

No they aren’t. The C6Z hit 190 and the C7Z was close. But with the Z07 package it could only hit 185. This is gonna obliterate 200 MPH.

It's already been divulged by TJ Hunt, Schmee, and ThatDudeInBlue the price gap will be consistent with prior Z06 price gaps (+$25k for both C6Z and C7Z). GM staff weren't trying to keep this a secret, just giving that impression to who ever they told (if truly a secret, they'd remain truly tight-lipped). Stingray likely starting $63k-$65k adjusted for 2023 inflation plus $25k = $88k-$90k
I’ll never understand why GM doesn’t ever showcase the Vette in black. They always have to go with some loud, tacky color when everyone knows nothing does a car more justice than black. But at least they had tan interior instead of black interior, which ironically is the least complimentary color when it comes to interiors.

This car is growing on me still prefer the front engine models. The two things I really don't like about this car is some of the paint colors some are nice most are terrible. And the steering wheel needs to be reworked. The minor body changes have helped with the look of this however it still has a Ferrari look.

@@nchellcatbadboy3625 Chevy has never really flooded the market with Vettes, and that's good for owners actually. I've got a strong feeling these things are gonna be $90k+ on average for a loooooong while.
I've got a 2010 3lt 6-speed GS ragtop and it stickered at over $70k back then. C8 prices are getting gouged by dealers doing re-sale. And we as buyers are letting them get away with it by paying it. Thankfully I have a dealer about 35 miles north of me that does things the right way. I need to pay them a visit and see what's up. 🤔

I agree with you. The average going rate for these will be $140k, with a few ultra greedy dealers hitting close to $200k. Those unicorn dealers out there that resist the urge for insane market adjustments will be a tale 95% of Z06 buyers will not be able to tell for the first 2 or so years of production. Chip shortages + the media hype once they're in the hands of auto journalists, will keep these prices near the 2x MSRP range for quite some time.
It is a curious thing for a company to announce the C8 and C8 Z06 for $60k and $80k respectively; while not regulating the dealers to achieve these figures in the end 🤔. Sounds like a win-win for both dealer and manufacturer to me. The performance per dollar is simply too good to be true; and maybe the inevitable hype generated dealer markups are a key part of the strategy to bridge this gap. Dealers and manufacturers are willing dance partners in this game. This plays out time and again with every halo car released in the last 7 years; $50k Civic Type Rs and Focus RS's, $105k GT350Rs,...etc.
Lets be honest..... are we all not over car manufacture's advertising cars for sale to the public that they cant even make!!! I am.

Yeah $80,000 thing never happened with all the markups unfortunately😢 they would have sold so many more of them which would have helped for future longevity and then they could have made some really high in specialty models for exclusivity. But GM let all the car dealerships rape and pillage and take advantage of post COVID shipping issues and the prices are still sky high. But it's been funny watching people sit on a car they thought they were going to resell for an extra hundred thousand

Coughlin is making people bid on Z06 allocations because of what the Corvette Worlds have done for the past 2 years. Chevy dealerships were selling at MSRP and the Corvette Worlds were selling the same car 10-20 grand higher than MSRP. Congratulations on jacking up the Z06 pricing!
@@clevelandbrowns3325 i’m gonna have to Disagree with you. First that’s why Chevy hasn’t released a price to avoid Price markup. The Corvette supposed to be the poor man’s Ferrari so manufacturers are not trying to Spike the prices. That’s on you if you can’t find a MSRP car because you didn’t do your research. Not all dealerships are doing mark ups. Second Chevy stated that if dealers want to do markups and they’re not selling as fast they lose allocations so it in the dealers best interest to sell the Z06 fast so they can have more allocations to sell the car if not they’re hurting themselves. But you pay that over MSRP all you want.

As soon as I first saw Brink of Speed start holding hands with Corvette Worlds used car shark I lost respect. This is what is causing dealerships to now play the games they are playing. This engine had nothing to do with a mustang, trust me. This had everything to do with GM listening to their audience. They finally built a mid engine Vette, now they have the proper engine to go with that mid engine platform.

By spending an extra $5k in performance parts (racing cams and twin 87mm throttle body this engine as per Z06) on $50K mustang GT350 vs $90K Z06 This GT350 engine would easily make 675HP and 475 lb-ft, As far as mid engine sportscar Ford had that way back in 2005-06 with the Ford GT-40. So nice try with the BS

Can you believe the base c8 has a higher top speed than this thing lol and only .2 secs slower to 60. The z06 front grill looks too chessy. Great sound though but it lost a good front end look i cant get over the carved pumpkin face of it. Brlieve me i want to like this car but that front ugggg
They haven’t posted a top speed all they said was how much downforce it had at 186 mph, not that it was the top speed. This will be a 200 mph + car especially without the big wing.

If it doesn't go 200mph it's not because it can't it's because of the gearing used is more for a track setup not for top speed no one is going 200mph on a track

I have a lot of top speed experience in my Callaway C7 Z06. It did 203 (actually 205 deep past the finish) in the Mojave Magnum (1.5 mile) event. C7z stock won’t make 200 mph even with Stage 1 aero. Stage 3 will cost you 6-7 mph on the big end. The fastest top end C8 Z06 will be the non Z07…..the wing and dive planes will be great for the track but I’d bet money the Z07 won’t make 200 mph. The base Z06 will be close….it’s got 175 hp over base C8 that apparently does 194mph and that’s prob without anything on the rear deck. I will wait for a GM announcement or a real test. Not trying to be negative but just realistic!
