Thank you for sharing this gem. You can tell by this time Tony was experiencing some pain in his playing. I feel blessed to have been able to listen and exchange with him in the early days on this anniversary of his passing. He was truly one of a kind. God rest his soul. RIP.

Saw a show once in the early '90's where Tony played with four different line ups. One of the coolest sets was when they merged the Unit with the New South and performed: "The New South Unit!" Got a tape of all of that

With out a doubt one of the most amazing performances ever captured-regardless of genres.Whew! Masters one and all. Rice's stories were priceless and reflect the relationships one doesn't usually acknowledge between rock and rollers, Garcia and White, and the tune smiths like Lightfoot and Paxton. Actually players like Garcia, White, Rice transend categories. A real pleasure watching those folks perform. It doesn't get any better.anywhere, any time. Thanks Jorma!

Indeed.... even if the source video IS only NTSC 480, youtube does better audio if its uploaded as 720 or 1080, so transcoding it to a higher res is not a waste. on 480 video, youtube uses a junk audio codec, sound is muddled and mushy with no dynamic range.

I bought a "Tony Rice Unit" shirt back in the 80's at one of his concerts. People would ask me what kind of music they played, and I would answer "Gypsy, Jazz, Bluegrass". Might have created a few fans with that answer. I was so bummed when Tony passed, and when Jorma and Vanessa was talking about him on one of the Quarantine shows, the tears came to my eyes.

Tony's music was some of the first real acoustic I ever listened to, before the internet made it so much easier to find. I find myself wiping my eye anytime I hear a TR song now. It can hit out of nowhere and without warning. Funny for a guy I never met but it is that special to me. I always tell people they're happy tears brought on by good music.

@@WellRoundedWoodsman very eloquently put, I cried like a baby when I learned of his passing and like you it still hits me sometimes and I catch tears rolling down my face. It's amazing to me how one man from Virginia influenced people from all walks of life and countries all around the world. It never ceases to amazes me to see people from Japan that speak no English speaking in a language that Maestro Rice was fluent in.

Thank you Jorma, Vanessa and the FPR family for recording and sharing this, one of Tony's last tour appearances. It's hard to see through the rain that seems to keep falling indoors, but the music nourishes the soul as ever. RIP, Tony. Blessings on FPR.

Tony's hands were already giving him issues, but he still gave a great performance. I always loved his praise to the other musicians while they ripped. Also, the looks at Wyatt. He told me once to go talk to Wyatt if I wanted to see a great guitar player.

That information has somehow become ignored. Fentanyl Floyd did not change the world for the good my friend. I’ve known jorma personally since the early 80’s. He’s fallen in “ line” nicely... I’m glad he’s happy. It wouldn’t work for me. Borderline cringe.
