As someone who attended the british racing school quite a few years back, it’s nice to see someone showing racing in a good light and the amount of opportunities out there for people wanting to get into the industry. Unfortunately the industry is incredibly understaffed, and videos like this can help showcase the training options available to pretty much anyone if they want to be involved. I do remember minenotyours as i used to look after him haha, although he arrived at the school about 5 years ago when I was doing my course. Nice to see a good informative video about the racing industry!! ☺️
Well said! I think it gets a lot of bad press but the horses I’ve seen are always very well cared for and treated like royalty. The staff do have to work incredibly hard! ✨
Very true. There are good and bad in most industries I should imagine! When I was younger I went to an equestrian college, and we had a day trip to Newmarket this one time, we looked around three different yards I think, it was a very long time ago, (late 1990s) so cannot remember exactly but from what I do remember, the yards were amazing and the horses were extremely well looked after!!
Gosh this takes me back! I attended the BRS 15 years ago! I decided not to pursue a career in it myself. But I have such fond memories of this place. Mainly that I got to ride Decorated Hero, one of Dettori's 'Magnificent Seven' from when he won every race at Ascot in one day. He had a special rug pinned up in the tack room. Do they let them use wheelbarrows now or do they still make you muck out into a sack and then carry it to the muck heap? I once fell down the small verge behind the stables carrying mine in nearly sub zero temperatures! Wow, they must have lost a lot of funding though. When I attended it was completely free. The only thing you had to pay for was sweets & treats from the tuck shop. Accommodation & food were all covered for you.
I don’t really stand by the racing industry, but the racing part in this is actually really good! But still, as I understand from the video they don’t get any turnout or go on hacks to switch surfaces (wich is really important). They don’t really get to be horse. And I think that’s really sad. Yes they are well taken care of but a minimum of 8h turnout a day I think should be a law. (And it is where i live). Horses should be able to live life like horses should, not just being in a stall and being ridden all day! /:
Around where I live in the south west we have loads of racing yards and all of them turn their horses out on a daily basis and they all go on hacks and some even get schooled.
like all other industries, it really depends on the yard. All the stables I've been to have had almost all hours of the day turn out, with different surfaces, as well as all of the extra blood work, training and physio/rehab that other industries dont have. It's just unfortunate that the racing industry has such bad press, cause all industries of course have their awful people or abusive trainers
You don't if you don't want to, it's obviously advised to go to a trainer's yard but some people do go back to their own yards after the course. You have to work so hard training there tho, so if you didn't want to be a jockey initially then it'd be a bit pointless tbh, although of course some people would want to try and then may just not feel like doing it as a career.
Can you please stop saying menage that is not the correct word. It is manège. If you are going to use french terminology at least use the correct word.

Well if you look at other racing vids they do let them out. They are young which explains why they are so frisky.

I love how they weren’t using whips 💕
it doesn't affect the horse coz racing whips are foam from handle down
Hi grassy
What is the weight limit for entry ?
Think it's 9 stone ?
5 hours early
Do you have to own your own horses
No you use the ones at the racing school they have Over 70 horses if I remember correctly
