Can't tell if this song is a deep metaphor for passing into the afterlife and struggling to say goodbye, or just a song Bill wrote to pass time waiting for his flight.

I thought the same! I thought it had a nursery-rhyme-esque style to it, somehow. But with bits of his very unusual style mixed in and then seemlessly transitioning to the rest. How does he do that
I think the interpretation of 'And I think I'm dying, but I'm just being born.' is that Bill hates the takeoff, but once it's in the air the flight is amazing. Perhaps this is a reflection of his first flight, and it was scary at first, but he came out of it as a new person. In general, I feel like his music contains messages that deal with cooperation and learning from other people.
The airport terminal is a metaphor for how strange life can be. There, all people from all cultures be there, creating an unusual circumstance, giving everyone there an unusual day. The entire song is talking about life, compressed in the metaphor of an airport terminal.

Do you know the scene in Airplane where what's his face is recounting his life's story to the passenger next to him and when we cut vack from the flashback the passenger is dousing himself in gasoline and readying a match. Something like that is probably about right.
I will make a very detailed reviews of Bill Wurtz songs because I have nothing better to do. This song is about trying to let go of your past but being stuck in our unpleasent memories that are constantly leaving and coming back and torturing us. Terminal floor is the place that we are stuck in. Planes represent unusual or unpleasant memories that we try to escape from. Basically, we are stuck in the terminal, which can be considered as an incurable disease that makes us miserable in an unusual way that makes us believe we are fine but we actually suffer. Last but not least, porridge that was heated for a wrong amount of time represents depression and unwillingness to participate in the real life actions, thus being stuck rolling in the terminal floor.
In my opinion, the airport represents death and the planes represent the journey of life. The planes fly around the world, go to different places, then all end up in the airport again. Bill says "through the terminal we all shall go". And Bill says that it feels unusual, because death (and life and being born) is unusual. And a big bit of evidence that this is true is that Bill says "I'm saying goodbye to the world I know". Also, Bill says "at the airport terminal I feel so imagintive; imagining where all the planes are going". People who are about to die think about life, and the people they know, and their lives. :)
WOAH WOAH WOAH! Let me get this straight: You comment something that is unrelated to the fact that I smell like 100 dead orangutans? Considering that I am the unprettiest UA-camr ever, smelling like 100 dead orangutans is really incredible. Yet you did not mention that at all. I am quite disappointed, dear layme
Still come back to listen to this every time I’m at the airport. 4 years of back and forth for college and I’m finally done. I don’t know when the next time I’ll be at the airport terminal, but this song sure carried me through.
Well, this is a really nice example of seemingly easy song being in fact really complex in a harmonical and structural sense. Thanks for delight for my ears, bill!
I've just realised these are basically baby videos for adults Edit: I don't mean to undermine what he does it takes some kind of talent and genius to make this
I like to think of the terminal as the highschool or school in general. The Planes would therefore represent Pupils and especially students in puberty. I don't feel like excruciatingly ex*plane*ing the whole text, just give it another listen with this in mind ~ And don't forget that art lies in the eye of the boholder! I am just having a bit fun with interpreting Bill's videos :3
Bill Wurtz makes songs that never get old, you listen to any normal song 200 times and you get sick of it, but this is my 354th listen and it’s still great

You're welcome.
is this some kind of death or afterlife reference? "the sky is so high and the ground is so low" like heaven and hell, "i think i'm dying but i'm just being born", "it's time to let go", "one day soon we'll all be together, until then the terminal carries me through" like a purgatory?
"Everyone is having an unusual day in an unusual time zone". "When I'm there I'll imagine where i'm going, and when I'm gone I'll imagine when I'm Back". "When will the night return". Yeah so many references...
Technically speaking, most of Bill's songs/lyrics have no "meaning", he just kind of creates them, like: "Well, it sounds cool, so I'll insert this line here, and this one here." However, I think that's what makes them really fucking great to listen to, it's just finding meaning in something meaningless or giving it your own meaning and interpretation, Bill's songs are just cool like that. I like your interpretation, btw
Think of what an airport terminal is. When you’re going from one place (life) to another place (afterlife), you pass through an airport terminal. You don’t stay there, you just come and go. I’m supposing that this song is a metaphor for some sort of limbo or purgatory.
It’s really been a year since “La de da de da day oh”.... wow, where’d the time go? [edit: oh hey, also The History of the Entire World I Guess was May 2017... that’s almost 2 years...]
@@emilyschad902 Are you sure it’s not death? And the reason he loves the terminal is because he’s depressed? And the planes leaving are actually people going to Heaven/Hell, the planes arriving are the ones who recently died?
I see it like the airport is where you are when you're about to die, and every plane is going wherever "Death" might be. So if you have Cancer, you're in the airport.
Can't wait for the Genius video on this one.

I always come back to this song. I work at an airport and this tune gets stuck in my head all the time when the planes are coming and going. XD

Correct.

I like to think of the terminal as the highschool or school in general. The Planes would therefore represent Pupils and especially students in puberty. I don't feel like excruciatingly ex*plane*ing the whole text, just give it another listen with this in mind ~
And don't forget that art lies in the eye of the boholder! I am just having a bit fun with interpreting Bill's videos :3

"Everyone is having an unusual day in an unusual time zone". "When I'm there I'll imagine where i'm going, and when I'm gone I'll imagine when I'm Back". "When will the night return". Yeah so many references...
Holy crap. You’re right.
Technically speaking, most of Bill's songs/lyrics have no "meaning", he just kind of creates them, like: "Well, it sounds cool, so I'll insert this line here, and this one here."
However, I think that's what makes them really fucking great to listen to, it's just finding meaning in something meaningless or giving it your own meaning and interpretation, Bill's songs are just cool like that.
I like your interpretation, btw
Think of what an airport terminal is. When you’re going from one place (life) to another place (afterlife), you pass through an airport terminal. You don’t stay there, you just come and go. I’m supposing that this song is a metaphor for some sort of limbo or purgatory.
Or maybe it's just a *f u n n y* song

Well if you listen to it, the terminal is a metaphor for life
@@emilyschad902 Are you sure it’s not death? And the reason he loves the terminal is because he’s depressed? And the planes leaving are actually people going to Heaven/Hell, the planes arriving are the ones who recently died?
Nah i kinda see the metaphor for afterlife and stuff like that. Some lyrics heavily references that.
I see it like the airport is where you are when you're about to die, and every plane is going wherever "Death" might be. So if you have Cancer, you're in the airport.
Mabye its just a damn airport that can also be used as a form of travel
