Any idea what happens if you diagnosed with condition in past but you don't have symptoms on day of exam? Like in my case with bilateral plantar fasciitis. As we all know, some conditions come and do throughout the year. Will they give you 0% or deny it?

Good question. When veterans ask me similar questions as “What if my symptoms of XYZ are not as bad on the day of the exam?”, I always mention that most issues have bad days, better days, and really bad days. I’m not condoning lying because that can really bite you in the back down the road but if you really do have the health issue, don’t walk in to the exam like you’re 100% healthy and feeling great. Because in reality, most days you do not feel that way. If the doc asks about your pain, tell him the truth which is “yeah doc I’m always in pain.”. Your exam is not the day to go in saying you’re feeling great. Don’t downplay your symptoms but also don’t over exaggerate. As far as the 0%, if there is service connection for your plantar fasciitis but the symptoms do not warrant a rating higher than 0%, you will end up with 0%. But this can change if you multiple issues that equate to 0%. In that case, they can combine the ratings to equate to 10%.
Also, check out the eCFR for plantar fasciitis. That and the DBQ for plantar fasciitis(can google it) will prep you for your exam day.
      Hope this helps.
