The ranking system is not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but I just did a full run on an alt account and S ranked *everything* without the use of Faust abuse on pretty much the first try on most missions (some missions like this one I had to do 4 attempts). On Hell and Hell you pretty much have to play cowardly and not get hit on most missions, with some exceptions like V's missions where you easily can take a hit and still have above 5.5k style points for the S rank. For this mission, I usually get the S rank on any regular difficulty (Human- DMD) by just fighting Griffon, Shadow, styling on the 2 Empusa and 3 Red Empusa, Shadow and Griffon and finally styling on Shadow, Griffon and Nightmare. The way you have to skip certain fights is dumb as hell though, I agree there. However, mission 10, arguably 12 if you don't do the Nidhogg Hatchling skip and 18 are by far the most stingy when it comes to handing out style points.
@@GeneralErlend Yeah I agree, this mission is bad if you aren't capable of styling of Griffon, Shadow and Nightmare, but Mission 10 is outright outrageous. Even if you get 7000 points in the first fight by Royalguarding a bit, after the second fight your average usually drops to 6000 even if you get SSS and keep it for a while, while in Mission 11 a good enough fight easily nets you 5600+ points. Mission 12 is still manageable if you skip unneeded fights with Cavaliere, though if you don't style on the Boss you might end up short on points, although that might just be my problem since I'm not especially good with Dante (I do prefer his weapons and moveset in this game compared to DMC4). I honestly don't have enough patience to do what you did, although I mignt try doing a couple of missions without Red Hot Night and see what ranks I get (I'm currently playing DMC4: SE and I need to finish the Bloody Palace with Lady and Trish, wish me luck since they don't have super costumes lol)
